"And it will be." I told her, she smiled, and I leaned in to kiss her lips. "We will make sure of it." I whispered against her lips as I pulled away from her. "I promise."
"Shay, I must tell you something!" Evie spoke turning to stare at the ground. I took her hand in mine and she turned back to face me. "I fear how you're going to take it." She was about to tell me what the news was instead she pulled back.
"Lass, what is it?" I asked. "Evie, what is it?" I asked again when I didn't get a response. "Evie tell, me!" I begged she closed her eyes tightly, folding her lips in the process.
"Shay, I'" Evie once again paused and got up, wiping her tears away, I followed suit of getting up.
"Evie?" I asked I tried to pull her in for another hug, but she only kept pushing me away. "Don't you want me?" I asked, she looked sad after I asked her that.
"Don't say that! I want you more than anything! I'm just trying to find the right words." She spoke, walking away from me. I watched Evie run away from me and back towards the ship. Only to feel a blunt object being slammed against my head.
Evie
Telling the man you love, that you carry another man's child is a lot harder than I thought. "Just tell him, Evie." I told myself, but I just couldn't find that strength. "It's Shay!" All the thoughts of what would happen if I told Shay about Louis's child. "I haven't got long before I start to show." I complained about my fear of losing him again. I knew I won't but in this day and age, I don't have that luxury.
I leaned against the door of the Morrigan. These times don't make it easy for women. It's 1757, I can't own, work, or do anything a man can. I'm meant to be the obedient, submissive property of man. So, I'm fearful that if he leaves I'll have nowhere to raise my son.
I'm the clear example of what a wife isn't meant to be. I've had a child with two men, meaning I wasn't a virgin with my first husband and that's a violation of the loyalty and purest. I laid with a man before marriage, resulting in a bastard child another sin. Finally, I've left my husband for another man, also a sin. I've done these things without caring about the consequences because it was just me. Now, if he leaves, Patrick is without a father.
"I need to tell him." I told myself as I looked at myself through the window's reflection. "I'll tell him tonight." I placed my hand on the window where Patrick was and let out a breath, thinking that this could go sideways.
"I fear I might have made this situation worse son." I whispered turning around and as I saw who stood there, my heart increased its beat.
Liam stood there leaning against the wall. "How on earth?" I asked, looking shocked!
"Surprise! Now, let's make this easy." I shook my head and leaned against the window, I turned around to see if Patrick was still ashore.
"You taught me never to go down easy." I told him, flicking my wrist to engage my blade. Liam saw what I was doing, before he could defend himself I rushed over to him.
"No Evie!" He spoke holding his hand out for me to stop walking towards him. "I guess you haven't told Shay about the baby." I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came.
"No! You won't, you don't get to choose what I do with my life not anymore." I told him, warning him. "So stop thinking you can control me! You never will hold any effect over me?" I cried, hoping that my brother still had some good in him, and just leave me, Shay and Patrick alone.
I suddenly felt a hand tug on my hair. "He might! But I'm always gonna be a constant reminder." I turn and see Chevalier. He had an evil glare on his face, I knew what would be coming from Chevalier.
