They stared at each other, never leaving the sights of the other person. The last time they had looked at each other is when Cassian made Rita cry. When she gave him a look of feeling betrayed.

"Severe third degree burns were seen on her leg as well as parts of her torso, but after cleaning and disinfecting the wounds throughly, she should make a full recovery within a few weeks." The medical droid spoke waiting for a response.

"May I please speak to her in private?" Cassian wondered not sure if the droid would allow it but surprised when they droid confirmed his request before leaving.

Rita's eyes glanced over Cassian, looking to see that he was heading towards her. He didn't stop at all until he was directly in front of her.

Looking up at him from her medical bed, she watched him close the space between them. His hand slid under her back preparing to help her sit up slightly.

She groaned in pain but allowed him to continue to where she was now sitting up. He then gently hugged her, not wanting to leave her side. Rita laid her head on his shoulder motionless while he held her closely.

Eventually he broke apart from her now staring into her eyes, but also seeing that her cheek was cut with a bruise surrounding the area. He seemed hurt.

Rita could feel it. He was uneasy and saddened by everything that had happened. Initiating first this time she leaned back in again towards him, kissing him gently.

When she pulled away, is when she knew something had to be said. She was about to speak, but he ended up speaking first.

"I heard it all." He whispered looking down, seeing her wounds that were completely bandages up.

"What are you talking about?" Rita tried to meet his eyes again. Yes she was upset with him but the sadness he gave had a much more powerful effect on her.

"Your screams. The pain you went through, I heard it all." Cassian laid his head in his hands beside Rita, combing through his hair trying not to relive it again.

"I stayed out there waiting until it stopped. They wouldn't let me in before it was over...then I couldn't say anything because you were sleep for two days. Rita I'm sorry." He slowed his words not waiting to see what she needed to say, knowing that there was more to be said.

"Cassian...I have been physically hurt before, and it's going to continue to happen. Sooner than later. But what hurt more was the feeling that you couldn't trust me. I have let you in to my past. The losses of my friends and family. I have told you things I have never told anyone, and yet you still lied to me. Compromised our mission instead of just talking to me." Rita laid everything out to him, seeing his eyes glance at the empty floors. He was unable to face her. The look of disappointment in her eyes hurt him deeply.

"I know. I just- so many have died already and it feels like we are running out of time. We've been in this fight for so long. I just don't want this to be for nothing." Cassian shook his head trying to make her understand which she did.

"It won't be-" Rita grabbed his face forcing him to look up at her. He felt her soft hand against her face feeling overwhelmed with emotion.

"Because we will win it together. You don't have to make decisions on your own. Especially when I'm there. We are a team. You have me, and you will always have me. Please believe that." Rita slid her hand from his face down to his neck where she noticed his necklace. Touching the necklace gently, she stared at the familiar piece of jewelry.
