I kept raking my brain, on how to start the conversation and tried to pacify myself of the anger which was seeping into me everytime I thought about last night, on my way to office. As I parked the car and came out with my belongings, I saw him entering into his car, and before I could stop him, he was gone with the wind, and all I could do was call his name out loud, "Yazan", with the hope that he would stop, but he didnt.
I entered into the office, but a thought kept pestering me..I think he saw me from the corner of his eyes but then ignored me. But how could that be possible..why would he.. Ignore me?
I sat on my chair and decided to call him, but his phone was switched off. Sighing, then I called Rukhsana, and told her about the breakfast she had to prepare. I had actually left early, in order to talk to him alone, as I didnt knew when he will return. Aunty was still sleeping, so I had sticked a note on the fridge letting her know that I had had breakfast, which I obviously lied. I wasnt in the mood to eat anything, and it actually surprised me that I hadn't eaten anything since last night, still I wasnt hungry.
"Woah..look who's here early. Bhabhijaan" came the annoying voice of Stephen and I shut my eyes. I was so not in the mood.
"Stephen, how many times have I told you not to call me that" I glared at him, while he laughed.
"Ohkayy.. Bha- I mean Sarah. Where is Yazan?" he asked looking around.
"He just went back home" I answered sitting back on my chair and held my head, the only side effect of crying so much and being hungry, was headache.
"What? What do you mean by that? Was he here the whole night?" that made me look at him.
"You didnt know" I asked and he shook his head making me frown.
"Why was he here? What about your date?" he asked making me look away. How does he know?
"I know because, Yazan asked me to cancel all his post lunch meetings of yesterday. He was pretty excited" he retorted as my heart thumped.
"He had some important work. Maybe some new project came up, which you werent aware of" I told him, trying to calm myself.
"Maybe" he whispered looking confused.
"I guess you are having a headache. Come lets have coffee in the cafeteria. And no excuses. There is still half an hour for the office to get started." he said before I could refuse and I had to comply, because honestly, I too badly needed a coffee.
After about two hours, and after calling him a millionth time, I decided to call aunty, as his phone was constantly switched off. She told me that he was sleeping and didnt knew whether he will come to office or not today. That made my hopes shatter once again. I couldnt focus on my work, as I kept doing mistakes again and again, but Hiba mam kept correcting me, not even annoyed for a single moment. Well, that was a first.
After lunch, there was a commotion in the office and I looked up to see him entering, Stephen on his trail, looking all tensed as he listened to whatever Yazan was throwing his way. I stood up hurriedly, but he didnt even glance at me and went towards his cabin. I snatched a file from the table and started pacing towards his cabin when someone grabbed my hand and I turned around to see Hiba mam.
"Where are you going? You have so much work to do. You cant leave your cubicle today" she said sternly and I felt like punching her with all my might.
