I layed in bed and watched the sun rise up into the sky on the morning i was to be married because i couldn't sleep at all last night. My stomach felt like a pot of water boiling and on the verge of spilling over. Was it nervousness, excitement, or pre wedding jitters? Who knows. After a few minutes there was a soft knock on the door before Alan peeped his head in
"Hey Kells, you're already up. This is great. We are on schedule for once. " Alan started.
I nodded my head and got up to pee and brush my teeth. When I got out of the bathroom, Alan was waiting with an outfit for me to wear. I quickly put it on and sat down in the chair Al had pulled into my room from the kitchen.
"Woah, woah, woah, where did you get makeup and why do you think you're gonna put it on me?" I shrieked as he came closer with a bottle of concealer and a beauty blender.
"I'm gonna put it on your face because your dark circles look like the pits of Tartarus that Annabeth and Percy fell into, and I got it at CVS this morning. C'mon, you don't wanna look like you're auditioning for the Walking Dead on your wedding day do you?"
"Well, no I don't. *huffs* Alright work your magic. And try not to pull too much of my hair out if you can help it."
Alan just giggled as he neared me with a malicious glint in his eyes that might have been madness. After almost an hour he was finished with me. My hair that was now about three inches shorter than it was yesterday, had been straightened and brushed to silky perfection. I coulda been a Loreal spokesperson. I flipped my hair and appreciated the way my skin looked so smooth and not like i hadn't slept or drank water in a month.
I slipped on my Toms and got in the car with Alan behind the wheel. Though I'd have preferred to drive. I'd like me and my unborn child to make it to the wedding alive. Another hour and a half of moving ten miles an hour through San Diego traffic we arrived at the courthouse. We parked and walked up the kajillion steps to see Vivian, Victor Sr. and Mike waiting in the shade for us. Viv hugged me and Alan and led us inside to the courtroom.
"I was just on the phone with Vic, and he's on his way he's just running a little bit late. He's coming from L.A. He should be here in another thirty minutes." Mama Viv told us.
I nodded and sat on a bench to wait, knowing fully well the hell that is traffic in L.A., it's worse than the traffic here. I played on my phone, checking tumblr, instagram, facebook, playing a few games until my phone was about to die. I looked at the time and it had been an hour and a half. I looked at Alan and then Vivian. All either of them could give me was reassurance that Vic would be here and awkward smiles. I tried to be as positive as they were, but in the pits of my stomach I knew he just wasn't going to show up.
I counted the lines in the armrest of the wooden bench, I counted the tiles on the floor and the ceiling until I started to lose track of where I was. Then I counted up all the seconds that I had been waiting. I got here just before noon and it was now 6:52 and the courthouse would be closing in about another hour. I stood up with tears fighting to escape the corners of my eyes and stormed out of there and to the car.
A few minutes after I made to the car and started breaking down, Alan got in without saying a word. He opened his arms for me and i leaned into him and let him hold me until i stopped crying. He started the car and began driving, but just before we got to the exit to get home Alan stopped at a gas station. He quickly ran in and came back out with two large brown paper bags.
After we got home Alan dumped the contents of the bags on the couch and gave me a smile.
"Get your jammies on cos we're gonna sit here and eat all this ice cream and drink all this wine and watch Supernatural until we pass out from it."
I hugged him tightly, holding him for a minute or two before going to change.
