Maya is up above!

"Please Maya, just eat a little bit for me." I pleaded with my 4-year-old daughter. She turned away, shaking her small head making her vibrant curls to bounce as her frown remained.
I huffed, dropping the spoon. Life has been rough these past few months, especially since Damon stopped helping out, claiming he was 'too into the game' and he'd 'help as soon as he could'. Bills kept piling up and Maya got needier, which is expected, she is a child after all. My child. I couldn't keep up anymore.
Thankfully my landlord and I were on good terms so I could still provide a semi-stable roof over Maya's head despite the small pay I got from McDonald's every 2 weeks.
Knock, knock, knock
"That should be auntie Diamond." I smiled at Maya whilst getting up to go answer the door "When I come back I want that oatmeal finished!" I said to her before leaving the kitchen and making my way towards the front door.
I looked through the peephole. My smile dropped when I saw it was my landlord on the other end. I begrudgingly opened the door.
"Good morning Alexandria." My landlord greeted me. I twisted my face up as his hot breath hit me, some people don't know what good a 99 cent toothbrush can do them.
"Hi, Pat," I replied nervously playing with the ends of my hair. "You look vibrant this morning. That shirt really um.. slims your figure." I lied.
He chuckled. "Thank you, can't say the same about you though." He reached for his back pocket pulling out a few sheets of paper. "You're 4 months overdue on your rent, now we both know I've been very patient with you but I can't do this anymore Alex, I'm giving you 3 more weeks to get my money to me or else."
"Or else what? You wouldn't actually evict me would you Pat?" I stared up at him nervously awaiting the 'of course not' I always got. This time all I saw was a cold stare.
"You have 3 weeks." He handed the papers over to me. "Have a nice day." He said before walking off. Once the door closed I sunk to the floor feeling the hot sting of tears coming to my eyes. I only had about $1,500 left and that wasn't even close to what I owed. I still needed to think of feeding Maya and myself.
I only had one reasonable choice. I pulled out my phone and went to my messages, scrolling down until I clicked on Damon and I's previous text thread. The last time we talked we got into a fight because he hasn't bothered to visit in months.
We need to talk Damon.
Baby Daddy: Wassup ma?
I rolled my eyes when they landed on the word 'ma'. You'd think he'd at least call me babe or something considering we were technically still together and I did have his first child.
I'm a few months behind on rent
Baby Daddy: Fuck you talking to me for? Pay ya rent.
That's the problem, I need money.
Baby Daddy: I ain't giving you shit Alex, what happened to last month the child support?
