“And this is what I am too you?”

“I don’t want you to be angry; you must understand that this is an involuntary bond that was created between the two of us. Sometimes it is automatic but in our case as our emotions grew for the other the bond was created. Very few wolves actually find their imprint, many wolves die before finding them.”

“Sweetheart, what you have just explained to me is a natural thing that your kind go through, the same as a blood bond is for mine. Why should I be irate over something that you could not prevent?” Eric soothed, as he grazed at the skin on the back of Robyn’s hand. “Technically an imprint is very similar to that of the blood bond I share with you. You are mine and I am yours. You may not relish in the healing properties of my blood but on the times we have shared blood a deep psychic bond has been formed between us.”

“From what I understand our blood bond gives you the ability to sense when I am in trouble or in need of aid and you can also feel my emotions. An imprint is where I have unconditionally become bound to you for the rest of my life. I am gravitationally pulled towards you and am left with a deep need to do anything to please and protect you. You are deemed to be my ‘perfect match’ and I will become anything you may want or need. If anything should pull us apart or you should ever reject me the pain I will experience is very much the same agony a child feels when they are pulled from a parent.” Robyn explained with such sincerity and solemnity Eric could not pull his eyes from her; his attentiveness to her words vibrating over his form, as he understood what she was trying to explain to him.

Complete understanding washed into his features. His face was overcome with such love, devotion and kindness Robyn could not help but look away, embarrassment shining on her features as her lover continued to study her with adoration. However, he couldn’t ignore the emotions that he could detect as she cowered away from him, hiding the grotesque scars that run from the ridge of her nose to her collar bone, two other smaller marks moving to her jaw on her left cheek. How could she feel so inadequate? All of her scars; the ones on her face and the others that littered her body told a story, a mark left behind that detailed the horrific past times that Robyn had lived through and survived. She was beautiful, her scars only enhanced her beauty and they were an attribute that originally drew her to him.

But the ancient vampire knew why she worried. Eric’s lifestyle was very different to the one he lived now. He did not care for the feelings of others, he did not worry about sleeping with any woman he could get his hands on and he certainly couldn’t care less about who he murdered. That recklessness was very much in check now for Robyn was shaping him into a Vampire that was worthy of the respect he rightfully deserved; he knew it was time to stop ruling his subject with them fearing him, now was the time to start respecting them and gaining their trust and loyalty the regal way.  However, it was not just this attribute that Robyn had changed. For the first time in his life he knew how it felt to be in love and to be loved in return. Robyn meant more to him than life itself, and with her sharing her life with him everything seemed a little brighter.

“My darling Robyn, you should not fear me leaving you, as I said before; you bring out the human in me. How could I leave someone so exquisite and charming?” Eric voiced with a soft smile, lifting his hand to her chin. Robyn couldn’t help but watch him, feeling his cool skin against her jaw as he moved her face to the right, exposing her scared cheek and placing one of the softest affectionate kisses to her deforming scars. He was comforting a woman who had remained strong for too long; it was obviously the time for her to show him her true emotions and qualms. “You are protected by my vow and authority. You need not fear any vampire from hurting you for I will always be there to defend you.”

“You in turn have a protection against my kind. If a wolf is to harm you in anyway, it will result in their death.” Robyn whispered fondly, enthralled by his gentle touches as his cool skin caused the Goosebump trail that displayed the path his fingers had travelled over her side.
