Ajsa

Slate and I haven't talked in seven days; in those seven days Darce has been keeping me company and always keeping me on my toes. She diverts me away from Slate and causes a ruckus to my neat organized routine.

She moved gracefully throughout my room touching various furniture that I made sure were clean of dust and debris.

"Your room is so..." She looked around the small standard room everyone gets "Plain, you never wanted to redecorate?" Darce asked me her crystal blue eyes pierced at my brown ones.

"I never found the time" I lied, I didn't think I would stay here for this long so I never saw the need to redecorate.

"All you have is time in this place-don't lie."She picked out my lie easily but didn't further push it. "We have to do something about these walls" She distastefully ran her eyes along my plain walls. I liked them plain.

Darce walked out of my room and I wondered if I should follow her or not. She made no motion to so I stayed put.

Two buckets of pale blue and pink paint made their appearance through my doorway; Darce following not too far behind.

"No, no way. I like my walls!" I exclaimed and Darce ignored me "Darce! I'm serious don't you dare." I sternly told her as I saw her uncap her paints "Darce!" I shrillingly screamed at her unbothered expression

She held her paintbrush up to my walls "What are you so afraid of? Change is good" She calmly told me but I didn't like change, I liked my white walls, I didn't want a mess splattered on my walls, is this even allowed?

I pried the paintbrush out of her hand and stumbled backwards, the paintbrush reeled and pale blue splotches ended up on my walls.

"See? It looks good" She stood with her hands on her hips "Well, we have to finish what you started." She grabbed another paintbrush and I stood there staring at the splotch. My eyes darted towards Darce's elegant hand moving across my wall making small flowers with the paint.

I held in my breath but nonetheless my hand followed to replicate Darce's flowers.

"Look at you go, I knew you hated your walls as much as I did" Darce quirked up the corner of her lips and soon we covered the bottom half of my right wall with various flower splotches.

"It looks like a garden" I remarked

Darce nodded "Flowers are my favorite thing in the world" She set her paintbrush down. My hands were covered in blue and pink smudges but I wouldn't dare wash it off, it reminds me of Darce.

Her white t-shirt was soaked in various colors so I guessed this was her painting shirt.

"Now if only we could change this hideous decor" Her mouth frowned "Add a few plants, get rid of this furniture" She was already making plans in her head before I stopped her.

"Let's save it for another day" I suggested as she plopped down on my bed. Her tall almost six foot frame made her lay awkwardly sideways. Although I was quite tall Darce was about two inches taller than me; but I could sense her annoyance with the small bed frame from where I was standing.

"What's your favorite thing in the world?" Darce asked me as I strolled over to my desk, leaning against the wood.

"Space, it fascinates me."

"The girl afraid to paint on her walls wants to explore space? Interesting." She sarcastically joked as she lunged forwards and grabbed the paintbrush which was resting on the table behind me. As she pulled the paintbrush towards her the bristles softly brushed against my shirt leaving a streak.

She stood atop my bed and her long slender arm reached for my ceiling, she drew a few blue stars and what I guess to be the moon with small craters on the circular shape.

She sighed "I should've made it pink"

I chuckled "Why?"

"Because it looks semi-normal but if it were pink people would stop and ask 'hey why are there pink stars on your ceiling' and you can be like 'oh my friend Darce painted them'" She hopped off my bed and put the paintbrush back.

"I like them either way, and I'll tell everyone who comes down this hallway that Darce painted my ceiling" I sat on my bed and she came over and took the seat next to me.

"Hey don't forget the wall garden" She jutted her thumb to the right

"I won't" I smiled and she rubbed her hands over her face in tiredness.

"So Ajsa, what's your story? Why are you here?" Her blunt questioned startled me and I looked up to the stars she had painted.

"What's yours?" I asked defensively

"Schizophrenia" She shrugged her shoulders "Although I don't really believe it" She whispered to me

"Why not?" I leaned backwards and rested my upper body on my palms

"These doctors walk around this place with a stick up their asses- like they're better than us; the little fuckers don't know shit." She shook her head and pulled it towards mine

"And you?"

I uncomfortably shifted "It's not that interesting"

"An boring story can always be interesting; it just depends on how it's told" She remarked and I smirked
