chapter eight

Emily doubted. She didn't want to give it but on the other side, she couldn't let someone else die because of her. Could not. Her hand moved to her necklace and touched it lightly. Thanos' face became more happier.

,,Bring Mantis closer to me." She said, trying to dilly-dally.

Thanos moved his hand a bit and the creatures brought Mantis so close to Emily that she could've touch her.

She squeezed the necklace.

Breathe.

Then, suddenly, one creature ran past Emily to Thanos and said something to him in a language Emily couldn't understand.

Thanos nodded and Emily saw how he became angry. Something was wrong. Her heart started beating faster.

He waved something to the creature and it ran away. Thanos turned to Emily and sighed deeply.

,,He's going to regret it."

Emily frowned. What did he mean with 'he's going to regret it'?

Suddenly, she heard sounds. It sounded like someone was trying to free him or herself.

Thanos' eyes moved somewhere behind Emily and the girl turned around to see what he was looking at.

Her heart skipped a beat.

Four creatures held a person who was trying to get free.

And the person was Stephen.

Emily didn't have time to realise what was happening when she heard a gasp and turned around quickly to see Mantis falling on the floor, blood covering her neck and chest.

Emily gasped and felt her eyes filling with tears. Her eyes moved to the creatures standing next to her. One's claws were covered with blood.

No, no, no! NO! She screamed in her head. It can't be possible!

,,Emily..." She heard a silent whisper and swallowed loudly while turning around.

She saw Stephen, still held by the creatures, who looked into her eyes. He wanted to say something to her but Emily couldn't understand what exactly.

Then, she understood.

Run. Stephen mouthed.

Emily nodded slowly.

Then she created a whip, threw if quickly towards the pipes above Stephen's head. The whip reeled around one big one and Emily jumped up and landed behind the creatures who were holding Stephen.

,,Don't let her escape!" Thanos yelled and sent few creatures to catch Emily.

The girl ran as fast as she could but the creatures were catching up quickly.

The gear ended and Emily saw the big opening.

She turned around suddenly and punched one of them onto face. It fell on the floor. Emily created a circle and sliced the second one into two pieces.

The other creature got up and wanted to attack Emily but one yellow arrow shot trough it and it fell on the floor.

Emily raised her head to see who her saver was.

It was Stephen.

Obviously.

,,Thank god, you're alive." Emily sighed in relief and wanted to hug the sorcerer but was stopped by a thump.

At first, she didn't understand what it was but when Stephen started walking hardly, everything became clear.

,,No!" She yelled and wanted to catch him but he stepped over the opening's edge and fell down.

,,NO!" Emily screamed and wanted to jump down but was, again, stopped by one voice.

But this time, it was Thanos'.

,,How sad." He said. ,,But, there are many happy things in the world. Like that." He slowly pointed at the necklace.

Emily got up and wiped the tears away. Then, her hand moved to the necklace and she touched it.

,,No." She said. ,,You killed Mantis and Stephen! Why the heck should I give this to you?!"

Thanos started to say something but before that, Emily pulled the necklace off and throw it on the ground.

,,NO!" Thanos shouted. ,,No, you idiot!" He looked at the necklace and then at Emily and then at necklace again. ,,What have you done?!"

Emily saw how he became very angry and started walking towards her, hands formed into fists.

,,You. Are. Going. To. Pay. For. That." He pressed trough teeth.

Emily backed. She was terrified.

But suddenly, remembered something.

How did Stephen teach me that...?

Emily stood still, hands crossed, two fingers  on each hand touching and others pointing out. Then, she divorced them and like she and expected, the Time Stone pieces started to glow.

Thanos stopped. ,,What...?"

The stone pieces raised up slowly, still glowing and started moving around Emily. The girl felt how she raised up and a gentle breeze touched her.

She created two circles but they were green this time. The green circles with symbols started appearing around her hands and spinning.

Emily put her hands together again and turned them a bit, creating a big circle and then turning this.

The Time Stone pieces became brighter and the wind too. Everything around Emily started moving even though she felt the time stopping around her.

Thanos looked around, eyes widened. ,,No, no, no! It can't be possible!"

Emily closed her eyes and released the power inside her, moving the hands next to her.

,,DON'T!"

A loud crash.

Then, a light green air appeared around her and moved slowly away, taking everything with it.

Everything, including Thanos and his ship and the filthy creatures.

,,No!" Thanos yelled while trying to stay in place but failed. The wind took him with it and the last thing Emily heard, was him screaming.

,,This is not over!"

Then, slowly, everything calmed, the wind left and so did the green circles.

Emily was still in the air but not in the ship anymore.

No.

The ship was gone.

The air was clear.

Her hand moved to her neck and Emily felt the necklace. When she looked down, she saw the Time Stone necklace there like nothing would've happened.

Then she looked down and saw her friends.

Suddenly, she remembered something.

Something that wiped the winning happiness away from her mind.

Stephen.

And BOOM! I honestly love SO MUCH how the part where Emily used the Time Stone came out and I'm so proud of myself!
