"Hopefully. After your encounter with the keyless mole the fifth key may be on Nebularis' moon. No one knows those things better than the Lunese." She hands me three bottles of water, and I placed them inside my small backpack.
"I don't remember you being able to sense keys? Or was I wrong?"
"After I used the keys to defeat Ceria, they formed some kind of magic bond with me. Its incredibly faint, but sometimes they pulsate strong energy, so strong its like I'm holding it in my hand." She explains. This probably means that the keys have a mind of their own.
"The keys don't always choose to bond with those it comes into contact with, but I feel that due to the keys held inside your earrings, they may be drawn to you. If you try hard enough, you might feel the energy they release."
"Concentrate hard enough..." Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath. I try to imagine what a keys pulse would be like; a heart pumping blood to all parts of the body keeping the circulation in check as its host breathes, in and out.
At first there's nothing, but then I find that I can feel the energy of something tiny, but strong. "I sense it, I think." Next I see the faint image of the key in my mind. I begin to hear tiny whispers saying, "Come find me, I'm dying." Opening my eyes, I gasp not realizing that I had been holding my breath the whole time.
"I saw it...and heard it...do all keys possess the ability of speech?" I ask Lena.
"Only the keys of the Sun, Moon and Nebularis speak. But the one with the most presence that is like a person is the infinity key, Orion." Her eyes are closed like she's remembering good times, I guess it was, seeming as she had to use them to defeat ceria over a hundred years ago.
"When you meet him, you'll love him too." She says in a sing-song voice, and I gave her a weird look. Love him too? That might be the most weirdest thing she's ever said to me.
"...Anyway, are these enough?" I move my hand in the air around all the many snacks and water bottles I packed for me and Aleri.
"It's perfect, I'll just grab the towels and-"
She was interrupted by a knock on the door, my breathing hitched as I walked to our front door to open it. An appearance I was most definitely not expecting to ever show up at my door looked at me with dissatisfied eyes. "Oh Sam, such a pleasure to see you here. What could you possibly want to do with this house?" I say through a plastic smile.
"I came to advertise a party that I'm throwing, I decided to be generous and invite people of the less fortunate." He stuck out a hand, a flyer in it with his face plastered on it with a big smile. I felt my irises travel to the back of my head.
"This looks like a cheap slumber party for little kids." I scoff, "Why are you even inviting me? I thought you and Ramona didn't like me."
He adjusts his collar and clears his throat. "I would appreciate your company, as I am not well acquainted with many people in this town."
"Is that fancy talk for 'I need friends'?" I smirk, his face goes a little pink and looks away. I smile even more, so he is looking for friends. "You might not want to say "For the less fortunate" while handing out invitations to people you don't know." I laugh, Ramona's posse isn't enough fo him I guess.
"Anyway, it is a week from now on Sunday. Will you be there or not?" He stares down at me with great hope in his eyes.
"Who sets up a party on a Sunday? Seriously?"
