All Those Words Mean Nothing

Walking in the school entrance always made Alycinn nervous. Maybe it's because the kids she's known since first grade became her bullies and mock her in the halls. Maybe because the lively haired punk she's been in love with for as long as she could remember stood with his even scarier looking friends, eyeing her like fresh meat.

Maybe because she had a Chem test she thought she was going to fail...

Yeah, it was definitely Chemistry worrying her.

She silently walked down the halls, avoiding the burning stares of her former friends. Her hand was shaking as she turned the knob on her locker when she felt heat behind her.

Someone slammed the locker door shut and snickering was heard. Alycinn slowly made a 180 turn to see Kaylee and two surgically conformed, more like deformed, friends surrounding her. Aly's back was to the shivering cold metal door as the girls stared at her menacingly.

"What's up, Whale Blubber? Squeezing in those jeans made you late again?" Kaylee sneered at her.

Alycinn hated that she was big. No, she was fat, plain and simple. She never harmed anyone, especially the most popular girls in her grade, so why was she being used for target practice now?

"No, I had car troubles and no ride, so I walked." she mumbles out, not making eye contact.

Kaylee slammed her hand against the locker and says, "Look at me, Edward Cutterarms! When I'm speaking to you, you answer me and make eye contact. Got it?"

Alycinn jumped at the sound and tears trickle down her brown cheeks. She sees Michael eyeing the sight, an angry look on his face. Why would he care?

The bell rings, signaling the beginning of first period, and students are rushing out of homeroon to their next class. Kaylee smirks at Alycinn and saunters off, her Barbies shuffling behind. She looked to see if Michael had still been there, but the crowd was too large to see through. She wiped her eyes and walked to her own first class.

Little did she know Michael had followed Kaylee and her silicon friends to their next class.

----The Next Morning----

Aly walked through the double doors, prepared for her daily verbal abuse. She felt their eyes burning into her back. She makes her way to her locker again, hoping that Kaylee and the Barbies won't try and approach her.

She made it with no issues, and she smiled slightly. Maybe the bullying had finally stopped, even if it had only been for a moment. Aly begin her trek to homeroom when Kaylee and her wenches separated between both sides of the hallway, eyeing her like fresh prey.

Alycinn was confused. What did I do now? She continued to walk down the hall.

Kaylee called out, "Fatso!"

Aly halted, not fazed, but it stung a bit.

One of her minions yelled out, "Cut deeper, you psycho."

Now, that hurt like a bitch. She still walked away, tears rimmed her eyelids.

More hurtful words passed their glossy lips. Tears fell from Aly's chocolate eyes.

"But guess what? I think she's beautiful." a voice spoke out of nowhere.

All the girls turned to the bathrooms and saw the now fiery red haired Michael. The three bitcha-teers gasped and Alycinn stood there, dumbfounded. Michael had never shown any interest in her before, so why now?

"She's beautiful and talented and very good at making a boy go crazy. Alycinn's pretty amazing," Michael continued, waltzing up to the nervous girl.

"I-I'm not, really." She stuttered out, staring up the six-foot tall boy.

"What sucks is that you can't see it because girls like them," he says, pointing at the shocked trio joined together, "try to make you feel inadequate and worthless. You're perfect to me, though."

Astonished, Aly stepped closer to him, leaned up and kissed him. He pulls her closer, basically lifting her off the ground. Her arms around his neck, his hands gripping her so tight, you could see the bruises forming. This was the perfect moment.

"Whatever. The emo geek and the guitar-playing punk can have each other." Kaylee sauntered off, a bit miffed, her two minions following closely behind.

The bell sounded in both outcasts' ears as they separated. The plethora of teens connected to their phones shuffled out of the classrooms as the two looked awkwardly at each other.

"Well...I should go to Chemistry." Aly says, starting to walk away, but Michael lightly tugged her arm to get her attention.

"Can I take you out? Like, on a proper date?" he asks nervously.

She smiled up at him, then frowns, "I-I-I don't think so. You'll probably ask me and then never show up. I don't wanna be a laugh for you and your lads."

He slides his hand into hers, and leaned down to kiss her again. It was softer, more passionate, yet meaningful. They part again.

"I wouldn't--no, I couldn't do that to you. You're...so intriguing. I think I'd beat myself up if I stood you up." he says, rubbing his thumb across Alycinn's knuckles.

She gazed into his eyes, searching to see if what he was saying was true. Maybe it wouldn't so bad...

"Then yes, you can take me on a proper date. I'd...really like that." she beamed.

He smiled, conjoining their hands and running off to get to their next classes before the late bell rang.

Let's just say...the date went very well.
