"Talk about corny." Tommy said but his smile was wide. Just the thought of her thinking about him enough to do this made his heart beat a tad faster.

"I hope you didn't bring me flowers because I kind of took care of that." Anna was staring at her work, wondering if she had overdone it but the moment she caught his smile she knew it was just enough.

"I wanted to, but then I realised I wanted to give you something that would last a lot longer. Something you would see and it would remind you of us." He replied.

From the driver's seat, Gary rolled his eyes.

Tommy finally removed his hand from behind his back to reveal a small box. Anna stared at it, knowing it couldn't be a ring but hoping it wasn't anything too expensive. She took it and held it to her heart.

"I don't want to open it now. At least not in the school parking lot."

"But you gave me my flowers here, you might as well open it." He shifted his feet and rested an arm on the open door.

"This isn't your gift. This is just to romanticize the drive. Now let's go." She climbed in before he had even moved.

"Wait, where are we going?" He was still standing while Anna had made herself comfortable amongst the paper petals.

"I owe you a date, remember?" Her smirk was enough for him. Tommy laughed and closed the door. He made his way to the other side of the car and climbed in next to her.

Gary muttered a few words, most likely about them finally leaving, and put the car into drive.

They arrived 5 minutes later in front of the coffee shop they had gone to on their first date. Anna thanked Gary and walked Tommy to the display stand. She pointed at the chocolate cake they had spotted the first time. It still glistened with a covering of rich, dark ganache.

"I noticed this cake the first time we came. I also noticed you noticing it. You looked at it like it was something you could never have. I hope you aren't on a diet because today, I want you to have it."

Tommy turned away from the drool inducing sight and looked at Anna with glistening eyes. He stuffed his hands in his pockets and looked down at his shoes, swaying slightly.

"You've had the cake already, haven't you?" She was worried now, had she over thought it?

"No, it's just-" He ran a hand through his hair with his head bowed. After a moment, Tommy looked up and smiled at her. "Thank you." He said. Anna smiled back but a drop of concern had it made its way into her thoughts.

They entered the booth filled coffee shop. Anna spotted the yellow one first, remembering how uncomfortable it made Tommy and her eyebrows scrunched in thought.

"You're kind of cute when you do that." Tommy was looking at Anna, the yellow booth out of mind.

"Sure I do." She smiled at him, knowing he only thought so because of his growing affection for her.

"What are thinking so hard about?"

"That booth." Tommy followed her line of sight and his steps slowed a fraction of a second when he finally noticed the yellow booth although it was slow enough for Anna to tell it had an effect on him. She led them to the booth they had sat at their first time there. A red one with two two-seaters that faced each other separated by a wooden.

"I was wondering why that booth had you acting weird last time, and why you're acting weird about it now."

Tommy simply scoffed and said - "I'm not acting weird."- in a tone that was meant to be calming but only served to prove to Anna that something was off.
