The Unusual Events In The Life Of Chance Lively (Jasper Hale - 1)

Chapter one - Birthday Girl

Chance liked Jessica and Angela and therefore joined them, but seeing the camera in Bella's hand, Chance's eyes widened and she shook her head. Bella nodded with wide eyes and forced Chance to get in the photo, so she crouched in front of them and made Bobby stand on his hind legs beside her. Bella grinned happily and snapped the picture before Bobby flopped back into all fours and Chance praised him wordlessly and fed him a treat proudly.

They all turned and left when they saw Edward and Jasper approaching. They didn't have a problem with Jasper - they barely saw Chance before Bella joined - but Edward stole their friend from under their noses. In Chance's opinion, they deserved to be mad.

"Good morning beautiful." Jasper signed to the girl, watching as her cheeks filled with blood, he gave her a cute smirk before wrapping his arms around her and leading her into the school with a Bella and Edward still standing there talking.

They met with Alice and waited for Edward and Bella to enter to Alice could present her gift to the birthday girl.

It didn't take long and Jasper kept his distance from Bella, Chance knew why, his thirst, but he didn't know that she knew and wanted to keep it that way.

Jasper used his empath powers to convince Bella to go to the birthday party that Alice was throwing for her before they walked off, Jasper trying to convince Chance to go, but she couldn't, they had a pack meeting tonight and Chance was not allowed to miss it.

"Please!" Jasper tried desperately, but Alice simply rolled her eyes.

"Jasper, calm down. If she's busy she's busy." Even Alice was visibly upset, but understood that Chance couldn't miss this - she was happy to come until Alice told her that it was actually on Bella's birthday.

Once they reached art, Jasper left Alice and Chance, placing a soft kiss on Chance's head, causing the girl to blush slightly before she composed herself and followed Alice in who was squealing.

At lunch, Bella joined them and listened to Alice as she discussed the plans with her, whereas Rosalie and Chance passed notes together so Chance could eat.

Rosalie let out a puff of air and leant precariously onto Emmett who wrapped his arm around her and kissed her head softly, Chance watching in awe as Rosalie let out a small smile. A smile showing their open love and adoration.

Chance pushed away her food after a couple more seconds, feeling full and slightly sick at the putrid smell she smelt, she glanced at her phone, hoping Calculus would come quickly so she could leave, luckily, she only had fifteen minutes left.

"I'm going now, I need to go to my locker and take Bobby to the nurse so he can do his business." Chance signed over before quickly lifting herself from her seat and leaving. She didn't realise that Jasper followed until she smelt him. He smelt like the rest of them - like her enemy - but there was a scent that came along with it, so sweet so adoring that she didn't mind him tagging along.

Once they reached Chance's locker, she passed Jasper her bag and Bobby's lead before putting in the combination and opening it. Once she had opened it, she emptied her bag of the books she didn't need before going through the locker and pulling out her advanced calc book along with her biology book.

With a small smile, Jasper watched her as she placed the books into her bag and zipped it up. As she pulled the bag onto her back, Jasper caught sight of something on her arm beneath her sleeve and moved forwards to get a better view of whatever it was, but he wasn't able to as Chance had turned to close her locker and fixed the leather jacket's position.

She carefully plucked Bobby's lead from his hand and began trekking towards the nurses office, stopping slowly when she noticed that Jasper was still standing at her locker.

Sighing, Chance picked up some screwed up paper from the floor and launched it at his head, shaking him from his thoughts. He gave her a sharp look before rolling his black eyes playfully and jogging to catch up with her.

"Done thinking?" Chance joked lightly, giving him a look out of the side of his eye. "You looked concerned." She pointed out, Jasper looked up at her face, trying to read her emotions but coming up short.

"It's fine, just worried about how Jordon's going to react.. Alice didn't tell him about the party because he would make her stop." Chance rolled her eyes at him, before realising he was probably being serious. Then, she remembered who they were and realised why he was really worried.

"It'll be fine." Chance signed over, trying to convince herself too. "Just relax and have some fun. I'll check in after." She promised, sparking Jasper's curiosity, he was confused at what she meant by he would be fine - she didn't know of his situation.

"What are you actually doing tonight, how do we know it isn't an excuse to not go?" Jasper teased as he leant in the nurses door to open it.

He watched as she rolled her gorgeous brown orbs before greeting the nurse with a wave and leading Bobby to an area set up for him.

He couldn't help it, Jasper stared lovingly at Chance's crouched figure as she placed a bowl of water onto the floor for Bobby.

At the end of the day, Chance sat on a log beside Paul Lahote. They were waiting to meet the newly shifted shifter who was going to join their pack.

A boy they all knew as Embry Call approached them with Harry Clearwater. He had cropped hair with the Quileute copper skin. He was tall and slender with some nice muscles in Chance's opinion.

"Embry, meet the pack." Harry announced, "Sam Uley, Alpha. Jared Cameron, Beta. Paul Lahote, Third. Chance Lively, Spy." Embry greeted them all with a nod and then they all dispersed to shift, Embry looked slightly uncomfortable at this but still shifted.

Chance sat in between Jared and Billy Black during the ceremony and howled proudly along with the others as they opened the links int heir minds and welcoming him fully onto the pack.

After they all howled, Chance was the first to approach Embry and she nuzzled him softly in the neck, which he copied in relief, knowing that he was accepted. "Welcome, Embry Call, to the pack." She greeted in the link, moving out the was so Jared and Paul could welcome him, followed by Sam.

They all couldn't help it, they had five member of the pack, they all felt the need to let out loud howls in celebration.

That's when Chance threw herself onto Paul's back and they rolled, bumping into Sam who joined in along with Jared. Embry watched in amusement as they grew each other and snapped playfully at each others heels before rolling his eyes and joining in.

Embry was a unique wolf, he was silver with black patches covering his fur. His snout was pure white and his nose was a rare dark grey. He was much larger than Jared, but still smaller than Sam.

For the first time in a while, Chance let herself relax..

Back at the Cullen household, Esme and Carlisle Cullen stood outside listening to the wolves celebratory howls, frowns on their faces. "Danger must be near if they've welcomed yet another wolf.." Esme sighed sadly.

Carlisle agreed, "two in the space of two months, somethings wrong definitely.." he sighed and ran his hand over his face, "in going to clean up the glass.." he left Esme standing there, watching as Edward's car pulled out, Bella in the passenger seat with a frown..
