"You don't have to," I said. "Adrien can sit next to me on the way to New Jersey and you can sit with me on the way home."
"That's a good idea, sure," Luka agreed.
Le Time Skip
I woke up at two thirty in the morning to drive myself to the gym. I grabbed my bag, my phone, and my purse. I gave my mom and dad a kiss before I got in my car. I arrived at the gym at two fifty to see that almost everybody was already on the bus. I put my bag under the bus in the designated area before getting on. I looked for Adrien to see him in the very back across from Alya and Nino. I walked over in their direction before plopping down on the inside of the row next to Adrien.
"Hey, Marinette," Adrien greeted.
"Morning," I yawned in response.
"I got you an iced coffee if you want it. I thought you might need the caffeine," he smiled.
"You are too sweet. Thank you so much," I smiled at him before grabbing the coffee.
I took a few sips of the coffee. He had it just like I liked it; almond milk with three packs of sugar. I finished the coffee almost instantly, but it didn't seem to quench my sleepiness. I found sleep trying to drag me into it's abyss. It had a good grip on me.
"You can go ahead and sleep, Marinette," Adrien moved my head so it was on his shoulder. "I don't mind."
I blushed at the closeness.
"Goodnight, Kitty," I muttered.
"Goodnight, M'Lady," he replied with our newfound nicknames.
So with that, I let sleep take over me.
"Adrien," I said.
"Yeah, Marinette?" he asked.
"I wanted to tell you that I have had the best season. I can't believe that we made it all the way to Worlds," I told him.
I looked around at the huge arena in Florida that we'd be competing at in a few hours. It was such a beautiful venue that I was honored to even get to be in, let alone compete in it.
"Marinette, my season was amazing partly because of you," Adrien exclaimed with a blush.
"W-what?" I asked confused.
"I-I mean," he began, "you are amazing. Not just amazing as a cheerleader but as a person. I fell for you this season. I can't wait for next season with you."
I was shocked, "D-did you just a-admit that you have f-f-feelings for me?"
He began to chuckle, "I guess I just did, didn't I? Are you disappointed?"
"What," I screamed, "if anything, I'm ecstatic. I fell in love with you this season too, and I can't believe that you feel the same way about me."
"Well then, would you be my girlfriend?" he asked.
"I thought you'd never ask," I replied with tears in my eyes.
With that, we leaned into each other—
"MARINETTE!" Somebody screamed.
I jumped at least twenty feet into the air. I looked at my surroundings to see that we were still on the bus, but we stopped at a rest stop. There were a few food places at the rest stop. I then looked at Alya who had awoken me from my nap.
"Why the hell did you feel the need to wake me up from my beauty sleep?" I asked.
Alya replied, "You can't fall asleep on an epic road trip!"
I smirked, "You just watched me do that for the last two hours."
The two of us laughed at my comment. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes.
"But really, what possessed you to wake me up from my nap?" I asked.
Alya was about to say something but was interrupted by Adrien and Nino laughing like mad men.
"I can't believe she actually gave you her number. She was so hot," Nino laughed out loud.
"I mean, who wouldn't want to give their number to a sexy beast like myself," Adrien replied with a loud laugh of his own.
I blushed at the compliment Adrien gave himself. I listened intently to try and understand more of what they were joking about.
Nino nudged his friend as they made their way to their seats, "Are you gonna call her?"
Adrien sighed, "I don't think so. Besides, I already have a certain somebody who I've been thinking about."
My heart shattered. He was probably talking about some super model from Sweden. How naive was I to think that somebody as good looking and kind as him could like somebody like me. That dream was just that, a dream. There was no way that that could ever be a reality for me.
"Looks like sleeping beauty has awoken," Nino said as he saw me.
Adrien blushed as he looked at me, "Hey there."
"Hey," I replied.
Adrien handed over a white paper bag with the Chick-Fil-A logo on it. He sat down and opened up one of his own. I sat there holding the fast food like an idiot.
"Do you not like Chick-Fil-A?" Adrien asked after a minute.
"No, I love it actually."
He smiled at me, "Well dig in. It's my treat."
And that was how the amazing road trip started.
