"Excuse me?" She asked sarcastically. She was thrown off by the unsolicited advice.
"There's a Senate seat opening up next election. If you play your cards right, it's yours. You need to be married, settled in the city and fundraising before you announce. You can't do all of that in one year."
"I was gunning for Mayor."
"Nah. Senate." He responded as more of a demand. "I know for sure it's a seat opening up next election and it could be yours, if you take care of home." He continued, "you need to be married. When you leave LA, you need to be scheduling trips down here, public trips, looking at homes, purchasing real estate and him being spotted out down here or in Atlanta at industry events and so on. You have two years to do that. I'll handle the rest."
"I don't need you to handle anything. I want to do this on my own and the clean way."
"Oh, it will be clean." He chuckled. "I can promise you that."
"You're asking me to marry this man and I'm not even sure that he wants to move to the South, at all." She responded only acknowledging part of his response.
"Ah, the real reason you called has surfaced. You need me to make a visit?"
"What? NO!" She responded immediately. "I guess I'm just admitting that my life is a little fucked up right now." She admitted causing him to chuckle.
"Nellie, find you somebody to play with." He laughed a little more before continuing. "Its a stripper, assistant, random, and a dog, right?" He asked earning a strong sigh from Casey.
"Yes." She said softly.
"Cool. Get your affairs in order Nellie. And don't call me."
"Don't call you. Got it!" Casey said at the same time as him earning a chuckle from him before he hung up the phone.
Casey slipped the phone in her pocket before making her way back to her girls. They were out having dinner and drinks at Bubba Gump on University City Walk. G and Mac were here with Casey but ducked off to the side. Casey was allowed to slip way to make a very important phone call but G and Mac kept their eyes on her the entire time. From her demeanor, they had a feeling what call she was making and they both knew some drama was headed their way.
"You good?" Bree asked as Casey reclaimed her seat.
"Yeah. Just stressed the fuck out." Casey said taking a sip from her Tennessee Iced Tea through her straw.
"My girl came knocking on my door early this morning talking about "this nigga just forever engraved his spot in my uterus as he fucked my mind, body, and soul out of me while I'm sitting here doubting our future. Does that sound fair to you?" my girl was pressed but we couldn't even finish the conversation cause Mr. Wrong came walking in ready to go." Bree said with a smirk.
"This shit is mad complicated." Casey said while shaking her head and taking another sip from her drink. "And I know I want forever with Gabe. But I also want this Senate seat and I also want him to be faithful this time because it aint no more next time." She said while twirling the straw around in her drink. Her face was flushed and her hair was thrown up in a messy bun on the top of her head. She wore a simple shirt and distressed jean shorts with a pair of all white Air Max 95s. Her frustration was evident in her face, simple clothing and offset vibe.
"Talk to him." Ashleigh said.
"I am, as soon as we get back. I'm just fucked up because I aint tryna lose him when I just got him back." She said with a smile as she tried to fight back the tears. She refused to cry. She was already being too vulnerable and shedding tears would only be a sign a weakness.
"Case we all know that mane aint tryna lose you either. That nigga will go to Timbuktu if you asked him to. Just talk him. I promise you, we will all be moving back South in a few months and I cannot wait. My edges are frozen and dried out up here. I need to get my edges back at home where they're comfortable." Ashleigh responded.
"My girl said where they're comfortable. I can NOT." Michelle said causing everyone to laugh.
"In other news, the 85 South Show will be in LA on Sunday and I'm trying to go so Case, get us some tickets." Bree said causing every at the table to laugh.
"Nigga I'm tryna go too. Fuck you mean?" Case responded.
"Guess its a field trip then. Ayeeee, going on a trip & we about to wreck some shit or whatever Little Einsteins said." Michelle said doing a little dance causing the table to laugh more.
The jokes shifted the vibe and mood at the table. Soon their food had arrived and they continued laughing and joking through dinner and a few more rounds. Casey's mind was at ease for now and those four Tennessee Iced Teas most likely had a lot to do with that. Before they made their exit to the parking garage for the cars, Casey rolled up a Runtz and Skywalker for the girls to smoke on the way back. As soon as she was done, they were on their way back to the house, calling it a night.
