He was now in the parking as he mounted his bike. It was a Hero. Sadly in his life he was never someone's hero but his bike Hero was really his Hero. Riding on it cleared his mind like nothing did. He liked biking and once a year he would always go visit Coimbatore to his school friend Chirag and they'd race madly. He had taken Jessica there too and she'd shit scared him with her stunts. What girl did that type of thing! Jessica drove him so mad sometimes that he'd leave her alone and ride in the city to calm down. It was his kick.

He turned the key and released the breaks riding into a Saturday that was going to be more eventful than he thought.

Star light, star bright

The first star I see tonight

I wish I may, I wish I might

Have the wish I wish tonight.

The sky was clouded grey against the dark night, the wind swirled alike any spanish dance style and the weather was poking it's finger in the icetray.

It was a regular October night in Mumbai, the streets buzzing with traffic lights and noises. She’d heard lights always guided one home but the lights she wanted directions from wasn’t the ones on the ground. She wanted the stars, galaxies and the whole universe to guide her home. But what was really her home?

I’m a Phoenix in the water,

A fish that's learned to fly

I’ve always been a daughter

But feathers are meant for the sky

Naina was walking on the footpath, her shoulders hunched and her stance forced as if it was taking her a great effort to complete every step. She was dressed in a turquoise halter neck evening dress that she’d worn out on her date with Sameer this evening. Her curly hair surrendered to the wind kept getting under the chain of her sling bag she tried resting on her shoulders. It slid to the ground and she just stood there staring at it under the golden light casted by the streetlight above. She considered leaving it just where it was and walk over. She was tired to bend down and pick it up. She was tired of trying to be someone she was not. She was tired of the life she was living from last six months. She was tired of her relationship with Sameer.

Six months back when Sameer had proposed to her, he was so sweet. He had always been, so breaking his heart was hard for her. Instead she asked for some time and he said he’d been giving her that and he would again if that's what she wants. Simran, her elder sister, had assured her Sameer would never break her heart if only she could give him a chance. She knew Sameer, he’d always been there for her in her black life when she couldn't see at all.

But a relationship with Sameer was something she was finding it hard to get into. It was like an unknown force detaching her conscience with all the sensible labels she’d put on. Sameer sure was a good guy. When her grandad, Bobby shroff died of a heart attack in April, Sameer was the one who took care of Nanu’s restaurant business down at the beach. The shroff family took time grieving for their loss. Sameer and Simran began teaching Naina’s mother to manage the café.

Naina on the other hand was lost. She was the closest to her granddad and his demise had totally changed her adventurous life. Her recklessness had sobered up and she couldn't focus on one thing. Sameer was there for her all the time and that’s what lessened some worry her mother felt.

After a month again when Sameer proposed to her and asked her to come with him to Mumbai, Miz. Shroff and Simran encouraged her to go with Sameer. Naina no more questioned herself on this. She did what was expected of her. Besides Sameer really cared for her so she had accepted his love and they’d began their journey together.
