chapter 14~ protection

" What if the other kids Don't like me?"

"Well then they suck cause your the coolest person I know.  But in all seriousness you don't need to worry about that because your there to learn." I tell her

She gave me a little grin.

" You'll be fine ky, don't worry" I reassured her.

She nodded and continued eating her breakfast.

I looked up violet who was cleaning up the kitchen.

"2 p.m" I warned her and went back upstairs and headed to the shower.

it's cute and all to see kenny being fatherly about kyler. I know he just wants to protect her and be the best future step dad and he is doing a great job with it.

After cleaning up and kyler eating I picked her up and carried her to her room and picked out her outfit.

She wore a white top with her blue jeans jacket, icy blue skirt that stopped to her ankles and some white sandals. I flat ironed her hair and placed a white headband that even made her outfit look cuter.

I looked at the clock which read 8:45 a.m

I quickly slipped on some clothes and we both headed out the door and into the car.

It wasn't hard at all around Paris.  I know my way now, especially because kenneth showed me.

When we arrived to the school house, i said a quick little prayer to god because this is the first time i was going to have to let kyler be away from Me and kenneth.

I grabbed kyler hand and we walked into the building.

We had to wait at least about 15 minutes due to her being enrolled. Kyler have to be in kindergarten because pre-k is too young for her

The counselor guided us down the hall where kyler class was going to be at.

"Just whenever your ready,  school ends at 2 o clock" she says as she walked off

I pulled kyler hand but she refused to move.

"What's wrong baby? " I crouched down to her

"I dont wanna be away from you mommy.  I wanna go home" she frowned

" Aweee baby it's just a couple of  hours,  I promise your going to be fine"

" You promise your going to come get me mommy? " she asked

" Yes baby, just be good and follow what the teacher says" I said

A tear dropped from out her eye and so did mines

I hugged her tightly and shortly after that we walked in the classroom.

" Hello, is she new ?" A nice young lady came walking towards us.

She looked very young certified.  Her accent wasn't strong but you can tell she is mixed.

" Yes, this is my daughter kyler" I said

" Well hello kyler,  I'm mrs.thomas, I'm a little a American so if you need anything , just ask me "

Kyler nodded but still held tightly on to my hand

" I tell you what sweet heart you can sit right here in front of Me, so I can keep a close eye on you since it's your first day"

Kyler hesitated a little then followed her up to the front.

" She'll be in great care mrs....-"

"Jones" I said

" Yes nice to meet you. Kyler will be in Excellent care. School let's out at 2 p.m so  make sure your here to get her"

" Well about that mrs.thomas,  kyler has been through a rough time with family trouble and I just want you to understand that I don't want anybody to come pick her up except for me or my fiance kenneth.  If someone else tries to, then please contact me immediately" I said giving her my phone number and kenneth.

" Yes oh most defintly" she assured

"Ok baby, mommy is going to leave now"

She nodded and hanged her head

" Smile baby, give me a big fat smile! "

She cheesed hard and kissed my cheek as i hugged her

" I love you"

" I love you too ky" I said

" Be good and brave"  I tell her

And with that I blew a kiss at her and walked out

"She'll be fine ms . Jones! " mrs.thomas says.

I waved goodbye and walked out the door. I stayed for an extra 5 minutes to make sure kyler was fine.

She was coloring and even talking to her partner next to her

I said another prayer and then left.

I arrived back home and found kenneth working out in the basement

"So this your way of , 'handling him?'" I asked

"No... but trust me violet I'm going to do it" he says

" Okay when??" I questioned

" Look violet I can't do anything if the man isn't around physically, but I can prepare" I tell her

" Well I'm going to call the cops then,  my daughter shouldn't have to live in fear because of a psychopath" I said

" OUR daughter" I corrected

"Kenneth"

" She is my child too now. Look baby  I know slim. He is the type to make himself known before he attacks"

"Well he already has made himself known!  The pictures remember? "

" That's not what I meant.  Slim likes to tease and play with you.  But I know his weakness.  I know how to stop him, and trust me the Last thing I'm going to do is be scared. Slim is a Dead man walking. " he says getting up and going up the stairs

I sighed

I hope he is right
