"How was I supposed to know that?"

I got out of the car and slammed the door shut. I ran off towards where Grayson and Ethan were going to their cars. Why they did just drive together, don't ask me.

"Hey y'all, wait up." I yelled after them. They both stopped and turned around.

"What's up?" They said. I looked at them and blinked a few times, still not used to them doing that occasionally

"My cars dead." I said, looking back to where Melody was sitting. She noticed us starring and she waved. "Either of you have any jumper cables?"

"I took mine out the other day." Ethan said scratching his neck.

"Yeah. I don't have any." Grayson said.

"Damn it. Okay. I'll just call a tow truck." I said, staring to walk back to my car.

One of them grabbed my hand and stopped me from walking. I turned around and it was Grayson.

"I can give you guys a ride home and then we can come get it tomorrow." He suggested.

"Really?" I asked, raising my eyebrow at him. "You do that?"

"Of course." He said smiling.

I signaled for melody to come over and she grabbed her stuff and walked towards us.

"What's up?"

"We're leaving." I said. "Grayson's gunna take us home."

"But the car-"

"We're going to come back and get it tomorrow."

"Oh okay." She said, and started to walk in front of us

"Uh, Mel. You know where you're going?" I asked, me and Grayson also walking towards his car.

"I mean, it's the only baby blue Porsche in the parking lot. I'm sure it's not going to be too hard to find."
........

"Give me the keys." Melody asked, getting out of the back seat. "Hurry up. I'm about to piss myself."

I rolled my eyes and handed her my keys, not really sure what she did with hers. She probably lost them.

"7 more months." I mumbled under my breath. "Just 7 months, you can do this."

"So she's going back home after the baby is born?" Grayson asked, turning his car off.

"Babies." I corrected. "But no. I'm just trying to get through this one step at a time."

"I really wish I could say something encouraging but I've never really had anything this bizarre happen in my family." Grayson said, trying to make a joke.

"It's okay." I says, laughing. "I mean what could you say? 'Hey, good luck being an aunt while raising your sister and her kids.' You know, saying it out loud is kind of ridiculous."

This caused me to laugh harder. And it took me a good five minutes to start, especially after Grayson started to laugh took.

"Wow my life is fucked up." I said, leaning in toward the middle of the car to prop myself on the armrest to catch my breath. Gotta love asthma. I wiped my eyes from where the were watering from the lack of oxygen.

"Well you seem to be handling your fucked up life pretty well." Grayson said.

"I guess you could say that." I said, looking up at him.

And then I realized how close we were and got an overwhelming feeling of deja vu; because we, in fact, have been here before. But this time there was no melody or Ethan to interrupt. This time I knew that he talked about me to other people. This time he knew I was jealous that I thought he was dating someone. This time I knew he wasn't dating anyone.

So this time when he leaned in closer, this time when I leaned in even closer, there were no interruptions. This time, our lips touched. This time, I felt peace.

Eww gross I'm cheesy. Wtf I'm going soft. I legit started crying writing this. Why am I like this?

Anywho
