"I don't get why you're defending him." She said, pouting. He just had to steal a quick kiss from her.
"Believe me, I'm not really defending him, I'm defending you." He said. "I just don't want for him to create trouble, it's his daughter... he should be able to see her."
It had been more than a month but still hurt in his core to say or even think such a thing — he would almost forget sometimes, but then something would come up to remind him that she wasn't his daughter.
"Just think about it." He added. "Alright, little angry thing?"
She smiled, relaxing a bit. "Fine. I'll think about it."
"That's my girl." He gave her another small kiss. "Now, I gotta go home now."
"What? Noo." She begged, pulling him by the hand.
"Kaycee..." He said. "It's been four days, I need clean clothes and to at least give a hello to my apartment...."
"Bu-"
"Besides, if I ask Julian to feed my fish one more time he will kill me." He added.
She sighed. "That's not fair, Jia isn't even here to help me make your stay... you can't say no to her."
"That's true, but for your information, it's pretty hard to say no to you too." He said, before placing a kiss on her forehead. "But we will see each other later for our class, right?"
She nodded as they shared a long kiss, and then he was gone from her house.
Classes, that was another thing for them now. After such a long time without even dancing with each other, now they were going to teach again in Sean and Julian's studio — the studio was just a dream to Sean, and to be able to teach with Kaycee in it was more than he had ever dreamed of.
The studio had been open for two weeks now and it was a complete success, of course. People were coming from all over the place to have classes there. Up until now, only Julian and Sean had given classes and Kaycee was the first no-owner to teach there — but they had plans to open for others to teach there too.
Sean walked inside his apartment after four days of staying at Kaycee's and it felt exactly like he thought it would: empty and lonely.
The apartment was great, it had an amazing view and all of the appliances or furniture was top of the line, and it meant absolutely nothing at all for him.
He did some laundry and cleaned his fish tank before tossing himself on his couch to scroll through his phone — he answered some business emails and then started to look through his phone's gallery.
A gallery indeed, a collection of photos, videos, and moments from Kaycee and Jia, and good it was everything he could ever want — part of him was still sad because the baby girl wasn't really his... but another part of him was really glad that somehow she was.
"Oh, you are home." Sean was caught off guard by his best friend walking himself into his apartment — the other had a key.
"Hey man." Answered Sean, locking his phone.
"Didn't know if you were coming so I was going to give food to your fish." Said Julian, tossing himself at the couch beside Sean.
"Sorry, forgot to text you."
"Decided to finally get your stuff so you can move in together?" Joked.
"Don't fucking start, Jules." He said, walking to his fridge to get some water.
"What man? It just makes more sense for you to live together." He argued.
"It's too soon."
"It's you and Kaycee, considering you should have been together since you were 16, I don't see it as it too soon." He answered.
"Except that we are not together since 16, we are together since last month or so." Said Sean, opening a cabinet to check his laundry.
"Still..."
"Imagine how Gabe would flip if Kaycee and I decide to live together, I mean he doesn't even know we are a thing yet." Said Sean.
"But it is something that will happen eventually, for you guys to live together, he'll have to deal with it." God, Sean really wanted to be brave like his friend imagined him to be, except that he was too scared — he was constantly afraid that something would make him lose his girls.
"No, man, can't do that. I have to play it cool, can't risk." Answered Sean. "It kills me to be so low-key about everything, but it means staying with them that I don't care. I'll pull the bandaid slowly as hell for him if it means he won't create trouble for Kaycee."
Julian chuckled while tossed his clothes in the dryer. "You know that no matter how slowly, he will be throwing a fit... he won't make it easy."
Sean takes a deep, closing the machine. "I'll try everything with peace, but if he comes not up for it then I won't be so nice... are you going to the studio?"
"Yep, wanna ride?"
"Yeah, just gonna take a shower... keep an eye on my clothes please." He said walking the hallway.
"This dumb really thinks I'm his maid." Julian joked to himself.
Sean took his shower and made a new backpack with fresh clothes so he could go back to Kaycee's house after their class — then he took Julian's ride so they could go to the studio together. He was surprised at how packed the place was, they had some sold-out classes before but the studio was different this time, it had a different vibe in the air.Or maybe it was him, maybe he was the one feeling different and nervous and excited, 'cause he was going to be teaching bay her side once more and with something they created together.
As he walked inside the room she was already there, in front of the class laughing and being her bubbly self — the room was packed and there were people outside the windows to watch everything, so they started it pretty fast.
It hit different, teaching together, I mean. It was somehow even more magic — they've spent one hour teaching the choreography and used the last half an hour to record some people. And at the very least, they danced to everyone one more time. The energy in the room was ridiculous and incredibly good.
When they ended, it felt as if a magic breeze had run throughout their bodies — her eyes found his in the middle of all of the claps and she flashed him the sweetest smile, and it lasted just a second, but oh boy, how he loved.
