We had been traveling for about two days. During this time no one really spoke to one another. Most likely because of the whole thing with Issac, Sora, and me. Honestly I'm surprised that the two of them didn't ask too many questions. Sure there were quite a few of them but not as many as I expected. They probably just didn't care about anything other than the basics.
"Looks like we finally made it." I said as a high walled city came into view.
"About time." Bella said with a sigh, can't blame her the trip here was exhausting.
As we were about to enter the city two guards stopped us. Apparently tensions were higher that I had previously thought. They asked us for our reasoning for coming. Not being prepared for this I froze, trying to come up with a excuse that would get us in... fortunately we had Bella. Bella walked up to the guards and handed them a card of some sorts. He observed the card before handing the card back to her and clearing his throat.
"Due to mostly unforseen circumstances, as well as some recent... events we cannot permit more than to of you into the city. We apologize for any inconveniences..." The two said in complete unison.
Mostly unforseen circumstances? Yeah right...
"Sora and Issac should be the ones to go. After all out of the four of us the two of you know Arron better." I suggested, turning around to face them.
"Y-yeah but wha-"
"I say we just listen to her..." Sora said cutting Issac off, while glaring at me... if looks could kill.
After that Issac didn't say a word more, and the two of them entered the city. We tried to keep an eye on them but there were so many people that we lost them in the crowd. When we had lost them Bella and I decided to look for a place to stay while we waited on the two. We had found an inn and were currently in a upstairs room.
"So what exactly did you give to the guards?"
"A merchant guild pass."
"Your average person doesn't just carry one of those around... so how did you get your hands on one?"
With the threat of war looming overhead people have become more paranoid, with merchant not being the exception. In the past being a member of the Merchants Guild would grant you a merchant guild pass. The pass allows you to get into all the major cities of every race. Now however you have to be an elite members of the guild are permitted to have them.
"That slaver woman who was after you and Issac. I found it on her, figures it could be of use in the future... so I took it." Bella said as she continued to stare out the window.
"Your worried about them aren't you?"
"No... it's just a bad feeling nothing more, nothing less."
"At this point we can only hope that's the case..." I said joining her at the window.
Spoiler... it was more than just a feeling.
