Miles nods slowly taking in her words. "Well, my dad is supposed to pick me up too. But he might be late since he's a police officer and all." He said, also glancing at the heavy traffic. Katie winced shrugging up her shoulders close. "That reminds me heard about the daddy story too. Yeesh, how are you not popular?"

Miles shrugged, suddenly the freckles under his eyes appeared in the sunlight casting slowly on the building corners.

"I don't know, maybe it's just a thing. You know how something happens to a kid then the rumours start to spread like wildfire and then another situation like the first only different happens to someone else and just like the first one, rumours spread again?"

Katie nods, and Miles continues. "Well, I don't want to catch people's attention like that. I don't want them to see me as the police son or a kid that has a problem with girls, which by the way I don't. I just--wanna be on the down low."

The girl snorts, "Down low?" She grinned, finding his words spoke truth but found his last comment to be so baffling that she had to point it out.

Miles grinned back. "Yeah, down low." He replies, glancing into her green eyes, his gaze soft and lashes long. The words she wanted to say were long forgotten by the look he gave her, her lips parting slightly by reflex making him flicker his eyes there only for a second.

A car honked loudly in the background, making Katie break eye contact first. She blinked a few times before glancing to the side to see her Aunt Mj in her small green car, the front passenger window half down. Mj held up her hands-doing a couple of motions with her fingers.

"Katie, let's go. Time to go home-" Her aunt signed. Giving her a look that could only sum up to exhaustion.

Katie bit her lip. No one except Sung Hye and a few teachers at the school knows about her situation. She hates to admit that she's deaf--people think she's unable to protect herself and talk commonly. Katie didn't respond to her only grabbing her suitcase and turning to Miles.

When did she let go of her case anyway?

The redhead smiled softly at the boy in front of her. "Um, I gotta go now Miles, it was great talking to you. I hope you have a nice weekend." Miles grinned in return, his cheeks tinged with red. "Bye Katie, It was great talking to you too. I hope you also have a nice weekend." He said, still grinning.

The girl suddenly blushed remembering the eye contact they made a while ago and slowly climbed down the steps, facing the green car her aunt was in and carrying the suitcase beside her as she made it to Mj's car.

Her hand touched the cold surface of the car door when she remembered something and sighs, turning her head to Miles again and cupping her mouth for the world to see.

"By the way dumbass!" She yells out, completely catching Miles off guard. "You know your shoes are untied right?"

Miles smiled wholeheartedly, cupping his mouth as well.

"Yeah! It's a choice." He responds back. Again, for the millionth time that day, throws her grin.

Katie laughed as Mj came out of the car and headed towards her niece taking the suitcase from her and putting it inside the trunk.
