For watching out for this book. So far, he's been a great reader, even offering an OC.

Book is based off the game Unturned on Steam, with my twist added to it. A/N End.

Selena rejoins the three. "Who's this kid?" She asks. "Charlie James." Jack says, as Charlie looks over. "The sniper had a crew. They're returning now, and soon they will know you will've attacked him." Edgar sighs, and only Jack nods. "Correct. But, upon that fact everything will end out with us winning. There's four of us, and nobody knows how many of them, but we have experience." Jack says, the group looking at him. "Nothing is that simple, Jack." Selena says with an annoyed sigh. "Nothing. We've handled many things before, but something like this.. We might have to leave town. Or, we can play in a defensive strategy for the city, we could possibly find more loot that way." Edgar says. Charlie nods, and begins to walk off to the fire station. "That kid.. He's officially the most silent guy I know. Even Walkers are noisier than him." Edgar says, and the three of them chuckle. "So, possibly, we could try and focus upon the setting that the apocalypse is bringing to town. Thirty soldiers, at least, and maybe forty walkers in the town. The noise will attract them, and possibly make them more dangerous. Let's focus on the fact that we now have a new sniper, and soon the focus will turn from loot to surviving." Selena says, and looks to Jack. "We need to prepare."

Charlie opens the fire hall door, which has been removed from its hinges. It fell, but Charlie had made sure to leave a pillow on the floor so it made no noise. Having worked at the grocery store before it all went down, he knows the local area. Entering the stairwell to the roof, Charlie sighed. He missed the noises of the cars, and the chatter. Local soldiers had been fighting an unknown virus at the town before everything happened, and it had spread too far. Soldiers across the globe had been fighting for the cure, and soon, most of the soldiers were infected. Quarantine zones were opened for protection against the city, but this city had been the last to attempt it. With no local protection, he knew they had to leave. Opening the roof door, Charlie sat down. The sun was beginning to rise over the horizon. He looked down the edge, and sighed. The fire hall was always the place for local chatter, and he would often sit on a nearby bench just to listen. Now, the silence is what keeps him wondering this, 'What started this whole thing?' The military must know, but in reality, the military is just a spec of what will fall. Standing up, Charlie sighed once more, going to the ladder on the fire hall tower, for lookouts. He climbed to the top, crawled into his sleeping bag, and nodded off to sleep.

Jack kicked a door. He didn't need to, because the door was open. It broke against the power of his foot, and Edgar walked in. Selena helped Jack out of the door, and closed the door behind them. Edgar opened a can of beans, while Jack and Selena shared a soup. Edgar watched the two, smiling. "I wonder where Charlie went off to." Edgar said, attempting to start a conversation. "Probably the fire hall, I smelled dim smoke from the roof. He was probably camping out there, and then got trapped in that store." Jack said, Selena nods with annoyance. "Charlie probably knows this town like the back of his hand." Edgar replied dimly, noticing how Selena nodded. "Well, our focus could be primarily on getting what we need for the raid.." Edgar offers. "Right. All focus will be on that. For now, let's get some sleep." The group murmurs agreement, and they lay down, nodding off to sleep on the hard floor.

All Charlie can see are dark faces leaving him at the orphanage. The faces stare at him with anger but sadness. Charlie is drawn into the orphanage, and he's all alone. Then, voices. "Look at that kid! He looks stupid!" Laughter emits. And then, Charlie jumps awake. The sun is high in the sky, the distant hills covered in trees silently waving. He stands up, and jumps down the tower, sliding down the ladder. He rushes to the stairs, and slides on the rail. Dangerous, but he does it. He lands, and runs out the door. He looks around for Jack and the others, unable to find them. Drawing his gun, he looks at the body of the sniper. Patting his head, he pulls the radio off. He changes the radio frequency and is relieved to find a station nearby playing music. He sits down, the classical music playing. Opening a bottle of Pepsi, he takes a long drink. Throwing the empty bottle aside, he sighs. Only after he sighs, his stomach rumbles. He opens a box of Ritz, and munches on them. Laying the gun down beside him, he looks around. Memories haunt him, threatening to end his chances of survival. Making the last of the Ritz last, he throws the box away. He stands up to hear a groan. Grabbing his gun, he turns around quickly, popping two bullets into the zombie. It drops dead on the spot, leaving Charlie to holster his gun.

"Jack! I heard gunshots." Jack wakes up to Edgar shaking him. "Okay.." Jack yawns. "Lead Selena out to where you heard them. If it's Charlie, bring him to the police station. I'll be setting up camp. If it's anyone else, do the routine." Edgar nods and runs off, Selena following close. Jack sits up, groaning. He rubs his head, and pushes himself to stand up. Grabbing his bag, he walks outside. Looking at Edgar and Selena as they run, he focuses on walking to the police station. As he's walking, he hears a can move. Behind him is a zombie. Drawing his gun and popping a bullet through the zombies head, Jack holsters the gun. Before he can turn around, Jack is grabbed from behind, and a blade slashes his side. Groaning, Jack drops to the ground. The assailant grabs his bag, and tears his machete off. Jack trips him quickly, causing him to drop the blade. Jack grabs it, and tries to drive it into the side of the attacker. He scores a hit, but in the leg. The attacker screams in pain, cussing. He tries to punch Jack, and hits himself in his pain. Jack pulls the blade, dropping it. His side is covered in blood, and Jack clutches it, trying to stop the blood. The attacker stands up, just to fall. Kicking at Jack, he crawls away. Jack attempts to follow his attacker, but his vision fades. As his sight turns to black, Charlie drives his knife through the attackers throat. That was the last thing Jack saw, before he blacked out.

Charlie quickly applies a bandage to Jacks wounds, working quickly with worry in his eyes. Edgar was holding Selena back, trying to fight against his own emotions. Charlie looks at Jack, and continues to work. Edgar sighed and stopped holding back Selena, and she ran over to Jack, crying. "J..Jack.." She chokes out the words. "Jack will make it through.. He will." Edgar says, nodding. Charlie looks at the two. "He's suffered severe injuries. His machete was used against him, and machetes are dangerous." Charlie says, turning back to Jack. Charlie knew that Jack might not make it, and he might make it. Soon, though, would be the ultimate judgement. If he doesn't make it, than they're doomed.
JACKS MEMORIES
" Edgar, I need your assistance." A younger Edgar nodded. In this memory, they were still young. 15 and 14. Jack hopped onto the edge of a small house, and Edgar pushed his feet up. Jack pulled himself up, turned around and helped Edgar up. "Great. Okay, so we need to focus on getting our stuff back." Edgar nods. "Right." The two boys jump off the building, landing in the fenced area. Proceeding, they slipped by the guards and stayed silent. Opening a door, their stuff lays in the middle of the room. Jack walked in, and grabbed his bag. "Jack Zachirias and Edgar Futoshiga. Come back for more, have you?" A man steps into the room behind them. "Yeah, but I'd appreciate a fair fight, right Edgar?" Edgar chuckles and nods, drawing a combat knife from his pocket, charging towards the man. He draws a Katana, and slashes at Edgar, who jumps back. "Jeez! Jack, grab your stuff while I distract him." Edgar charges at Nameless again, and Jack grabs his bag. Rummaging through it, he grabs his gun, points it, and fires. Edgar drops to evade the bullet, and it pierces Nameless' chest, ripping right through. Blood spills from the wound, with Nameless gasping for air. He falls to his knees as Edgar stands back, smirking. "Jack, wake up.. Please.." The voice was familiar to Jack, but only Edgar and him were in this room. Alive, anyway.
