Ch.10: The holiday spirit

"Thank you Todoroki. I will make sure to thank the others as well. I owe you. And you are right. I haven't told you the whole truth about myself for your own protection. But i ask that you trust me,"

"I see. Thank you for our honesty. And you may call me Shoto now,"

"Sure".

~time skip to when you arrive to UA/ author's POV ~

"(Y/N)!!!!!" everyone shouts as you step inside the common room. Tears of joy and happiness, hugs, smiles, greetings are everywhere. The whole room has been decorated. Christmas songs are playing in the background.

A big Christmas tree stands in the corner of the room, encircled with presents. On the middle table are various types of snacks and drinks. On the side table are different sweets, mostly Sato baked them. Moreover, everyone is wearing a Santa clause outfit except Bakugou.

"I need to put the bags in my room. You guys wait for me," you say as you break out of your last hug.

"Let me help you," Momo suggests as she takes the bags from your grip. "I have also made you a Santa Clause outfit; it is on your bed".

You and Momo get to your room. She unpacks your bags while you change into your Christmas outfit. Once you finish, you join the others back downstairs.  

~time skip further into the party/ author's POV~

Everyone is now sitting enjoying themselves.

The door opens and a small girl run up to you. Being caught up in all the fun you are having, Eri's hug startles you. However, you quickly return to normal when you hear her small voice, "i am so happy you are back Gensou. I missed you so much".

As she lets go, you turn around and crouch down to her level. "Hey Eri. I missed you too. A little birdy told me that you have been making progress with your quirk. I am so proud of you," you cheerfully tell her and hug her quickly.

"I have a present for you. Dad can you give it to me?" she asks as she extends her tiny hands to Aizawa. Your eyes widen when you realized that Aizawa has finally adopted Eri. You start to feel happy on the inside knowing this girl finally has a place to call home. A red color snaps you back to reality.

"Here. I hope you like it," she nervously says.

You thank her and start unfolding the gift.

"Oh! It is amazing! Thank you Eri!" you exclaim as your eyes start to water.

You are holding a small ceramic-shaped heart, written in red the following words: "Guardian, you are everyone's hero". No one has ever been as kind to you as this young girl has.

Everyone start exchanging gifts. You start feeling guilty. You have been spending the past two weeks in hospital because you let your quirk out of control. However, the only person who notices your unease walks to you and makes a move that surprises everyone. He hugs you. Katsuki Bakugou hugs you for mere seconds then he lets go of you. He offers you a small package, "Merry Christmas (y/n)," he says in a calm voice. You unwrap it and open the box. Bakugou got you a necklace, sun and moon necklace. 

"My old hag thought it would be a good gift since you hold the power of light and darkness," he mutters so only you can hear. You nod and thank him.

~time skip to the end of the party/ Shoto's POV~

I cannot stop thinking about (y/n). Bakugou was able to comfort her so quickly. He got her a necklace that symbolizes her quirk. This guy has style! However, i need to talk to (y/n). Ever since i ... we almost lost her on the island, i have been having this strange urge to always be with her and protect her. I need to know what kind of feeling would prompt someone to have this urge. "Hey Todoroki, can you help me with the trash?" Midoriya's question interrupts my thoughts. I nod and we head outside. The snow is covering the ground. The scene reminds me of my mother. I smile at the memory. My mother once asked me if i have any love interest but i denied telling her that i need to focus on becoming a hero. He laughed and told me that it would be nice to have someone walking with me the path to my goal. I did not understand what she meant with the word 'nice'. But i might do now.

"That's it," i say to myself. I forgot that Midoriya is around, "What's what Todoroki?" he asks.

"It's nothing Midoriya," i say as we throw the trash.

"Are you sure? You have been zoning out a lot during the party and now, especially after Bakugou gave (y/n) this necklace".

"You are as observant as ever Midoriya. You needn't worry. I am completely fine. For the matter of fact, i have never been better," i say and smile lightly at my concerned friend.

"Okay," is all he replied.
