The Return of Us

Chapter 1

“Four years ago, I guess.” Junu’s answer surprised Minguk and Minyul. They knew it had been a long time, but not that long. Junu’s look was not that bad. He was known to be popular among the girls though. He could pick any girls he liked if he wanted to.

Junu’s mind went back to his previous relationship with his classmate in highschool, Soojung. They lasted for quite a long time, 3 years. But those relationship feels empty for Junu. He just acted like a good boyfriend, did whatever an adorable boyfriend would do, but actually he didn’t feel that much for Soojung.

He even wondered if he ever loved her at all.

Maybe it was because Junu already closed his heart for a particular person in the past, even though he didn’t know if that person thought of him the same.

 “I’m not really that concerned though.” Said Junu lightly, and then sipped his coffee. “How about you and Jiah? Still going strong?” Junu diverted the question to Minguk. The target’s question blushed in an instant.

“Yeah, we’ve been together for 3 years. It’s funny to think about. Jiah and I did DWYAG show and went on vacation regularly for a year, and I thought nothing of her, only as my little sister. When I meet her again 3 years ago, I was surprised. She had become a very beautiful woman. You could say it was love at another first sight.” Minguk blushed and laughed to himself. “When I decided to move here, we had a huge fight and she cried a lot…”

Minguk’s story distracted by Minyul’s action mouthing “He did too.” behind Minguk’s back. “What’s with this kid?”  said Minguk after hit the back of Minyul’s head. Junu laughed while seeing the brotherly bond in front of him, reminded him about Junseo, his brother.

“…but eventually she accepted this. If the job and career, and also our relationship is going stable, maybe she’ll move here in 2 or 3 years.” Minguk continued.

“I got a feeling you guys could make it. You both are great partner. I’m happy for you.” Junu patted his best friend shoulder.

“Hyung, you need to meet a girl also. This reminded me, there is a girl on NYU Korean Student Community that you might want to meet. You should have known each other.”

“Really? Who? I don’t remember knowing any girl studying to NYU though.”

“Are you sure you don’t remember her? You both were casted The Return of Superman. Her name is Lee Haru.”

“Lee… Haru?” Junu stuttered when he said the name.

Lee Haru he said?

How could he ever forget her?

The particular person of his past that keeping his heart locked, and only that particular person held the key.

 “Yes. She goes to NYU too. She took music major, focusing on composing. Like father like daughter, huh? She’s still in her freshman year, but she’s already popular among other Korean students.”

Junu lost in his mind, thinking about what Minyul said earlier. Haru was in New York. They both were under the same sky. He could meet Haru again.

“Hyung, are you okay? You seem lost?” Minyul woke him up from his daydreaming. Junu was surprised and reassured the brothers that he was okay.

Junu, Minguk, and Minyul finally said farewell to each other after talking for a few hours. Minyool had some things to do in the evening, so he had to go. Minguk also had to tidy up his new apartment since he just moved yesterday, there was a lot of things to do left. They decided to said goodbye at that time, and promised to meet again some other time.
