"Okay, thanks," I replied and entered the house. The whole house was dark but the disco lights allowed me to see. The house was as big as it looked from outside and there was a grand staircase which led to the second floor. A red tape was used to block the way upstairs and loud music was blasting my ears. Gods, there were a lot more people in this house than I expected. Courtney really was popular. Most people were dancing or rather chit-chatting while standing in groups and talking to people while some were just sitting.
I scanned the room for Kay and Lee but I couldn't find them. I pushed through the crowd and I finally spotted them.
They were sitting in a circle with some people that I obviously do not know.
"Syd, you're here! Come on over, we're playing a game! You can join!" Kay yelled on the top of her voice to make sure I could hear it over the music.
"Nah, I'll pass," I replied.
"Come on! It'll be fun!" Lee joined.
I'm glad the music was loud that it was overpowering our voices. Our discussion was only heard by us.
"What are you playing anyway?"
"Hey you, girl with the shorts, are you playing?" A girl asked me.
"Yeah sure," my mouth had replied even before I knew it.
"What are we playing?" I asked her clumsily.
"STB. Drake spun and it's pointing towards you."
What the heck! Why did I even agree to play. I had learnt by now that STB stood for spin the bottle and I hated that game to the core.
"You and Drake," she informed me.
Drake? I looked up and saw Drake, the same Drake I met in the morning. Why was he here?
Leah pulled me down to sit next to her and pointed towards Drake. These guys didn't know me well yet, that I don't play such games, nor have I ever been to a party like this. I know, I'm 17 but, I wasn't popular in my old school to be invited to a party like this. People were really different there, over here, they don't even care who comes to their parties. It's weird.
Hells, no way. I wasn't going to kiss a stranger! Especially not for the sake of a game.
Drake moved into the circle and since everyone realised that I wouldn't move out of my place, he came even closer. He stared at me and I stared back like it was a staring contest. I was one of those people who stare back rather than looking away. Anyway, he came closer, and closer.
I couldn't do this. I knew I couldn't. I immediately stood up and walked out of the circle. Let's say I didn't just walk, I ran. I ran for my life. Just before I ran, I informed Lee and Kay that I'd be outside. I wasn't planning on walking or taking the underground alone. I preferred being with other people. I had never been asked or rather told to kiss someone I only met (although I had met him a few hours ago).
This was why I hated parties. You play stupid games and do stupid things like drinking. I waited outside the gate for Leah and Kaycee. I took out my phone and started reading. How can someone not love reading? (Referring to Kaycee here). I mean it's awesome. Just 26 letters can form billions of books.
