It had been a peaceful day so far, she'd just come back from work because she was let home early, so she'd decided to just relax. The week had been extremely busy for her and her mother wasn't making it any easier for her, she finally got a day of rest. That is, until her mother walked in through the door.

"MADELINE!"

Madeline groaned as she glared at her door, knowing her mother would burst through it any moment.

"Yes Mother" Madeline cringed at how irritated her voice sounded when she answered. Three seconds later and her door was viscously opened. She looked up at the angry face of her mother and inwardly sighed already knowing what her mother was going to tell her.

"Madeline Chambers, what are you doing in bed?. You should be in the library, reading, like a proper elegant lady"

"Mother please, I just came back from work. I'm tired" Madeline didn't want to argue with her mother. She was not in the mood and she was extremely tired, she hadn't gotten enough sleep for almost a week.

"I don't care, no one forced you to work as a waitress" Her mother snapped at her.

"It's my job" Madeline whined, she hated it when her mother brought up her job. It was true she didn't need the job, her father was very rich and provided her with the necessary things she needed but she wanted to work. To do something. Afterall she wasn't going to feed off her parents money forever.

When she had presented her problem to her parents, her mother suggested her working as a secretary in her company but she refused saying she didn't want their help. She wanted to do this on her own, without their money.

She,at first, wanted to be a photographer, she loved taking pictures of things she considered beautiful but her mom told her she wasn't to use anything bought with their money to get a job. She decided to start as a waitress in order to earn money to pay for a camera, then she'd pursue her real passion.

Madeline turned to her mother who was glaring at her. "It's your job" she mocked her "You're pitiful, you know?" Madeline cut her off, already getting tired of her mother.

"Mother, I Know what I'm doing, I just want to be independent" she got up from her bed and busied herself with making her bed.

"No. You just want to be ungrateful, you don't appreciate your wealth. You're from a decent and powerful family, why not accept it?" Her mother made a disgusted expression.

"A waitress, so disgusting. This is why you'll never be like your sister"

Tears welled up in Madeline's eyes but she refused to let them fall, it was always like this . Her mother would always compare her to her sister, Maybelle.

"Mother, please just leave" Madeline removed her top. "I want to shower...... please" Her mother's eyes raked over her body, lingering on her stomach.

"You're getting fat" Her mother finally left the room.

That was the last straw, her tears fell. She was hurt. She had always been a bit self conscious about her body. She was anorexic in her highschool days for a while. She had recovered, but it hurt her that her mother didn't even care about her health.

She sighed, she felt like going out now. She was going to try and forget what her mother said. So she called her best friend Kimberly, the one person she could trust.
