I hesitated for a moment before walking over to him. I gently placed a hand on his shoulder, but he only flinched at my touch. I quickly pulled my hand away.
"We should.. go."
"You go; take the ship. I can't leave it this way." Mando replied, tightening his grasp around the helmet. He shifted his head a little to the side to face Greef. "Did you know about this?"
My eyes widened, "Don't--"
"Was this the work of your bounty hunters?" Mando spat out the words with hatred.
"No..!" Greef scoffed. Cara looked at him suspiciously. But I knew Greef was innocent.. he had to be. He continued, "When you left the system and took the prizes, the fighting ended and the hunters just melted away..! You know how it is -- they're mercenaries. They're not zealots!"
"Did you do this?" Mando shouted, placing the Mandalorian helmet that was in his hands back on top of the pile. He stormed up to Greef, placing a finger on his chest angrily. "Did you?!"
"No!" Greef yelled back, stabbing a finger at Mando's chestplate. I shoved the two away from each other and stood in between them, glaring.
"Stop it! The both of you..!" I raised my voice. I turned to face Mando, "It's not his fault."
"Oh, so you're on his side now?!" He snapped. I rolled my eyes.
"I never said I was." I growled. Mando snickered, taking a step towards me. "You're upset; we both know he wouldn't do this--"
"So we're trusting our feelings now, are we? You're too soft for this world..!" He yelled. I stood my ground as he hovered over me. "You need to harden up -- learn to just face the truth!"
I took a step forward, drawing my face dangerously close to his helmet. I clenched my teeth, "Don't you dare tell me what to do."
"That's enough." An unknown voice emerged from the shadows. "Listen to the girl, it was not the man's fault."
The figure that stepped into the room was a female Mandalorian armorer. She picked up a few of the armor from off the floor and placed it inside a nearby cart.
"We revealed ourselves. We knew what could happen if we left the covert. The Imperials arrived shortly thereafter." The Armorer said. Once I heard the word 'Imperials', my heart dropped. She pointed at the pile of armor, "This is what resulted."
".. Did any survive?" Mando asked, his voice low and vulnerable.
"I hope so. Some may have escaped off-world."
Mando paused for a second, thinking to himself. "Come with us."
"No." She spat, picking up a Mandalorian helmet and organizing it inside the cart. "I will not abandon this place until I have salvaged what remains."
The Armorer began pushing the cart to another part of the enclave. Mando followed her. I looked over at Cara and Greef, then went along behind him. Soon after, the others followed after us.
We were now inside of what seemed to be a smelter room. The Armorer began melting some metal to forge armor. We all scattered inside the room, mostly standing around Mando and the Armorer.
