The breakfast bell chimed and Valor startled awake. "Crap!"
She practically ran into her closet and chose a dark blue top with a shiny black jacket. She brushed her hair quickly and put it into a ponytail. After, she put on black skinny jeans and her worn-out sneakers, tying them in a rush. A servant stopped her in the hallway.
"Hello, Lady Valor!" she said. It was Jenna but she was wearing a red robe with silver ropes, a wide grin spread across her face.
"Jenna?" Valor asked, squinting to make sure she could see correctly.
"Mhm! It's me!"
"Wha- Wow! What are you doing here?!"
"Well, I'm a servant... and I don't want to be one... BUT I'm stuck working here."
"Hmmm..."
"Anyway, you MUST go to breakfast right now! Lord Phoenix doesn't like it when people are late, though I'm sure you're an exception."
"Right! Stop by my room again, and we can talk more later."
"Sounds good! I'll pretend I'm serving you tea!" she called out as Valor rushed past her.
"Okay!" She hurried down the hall, once again pausing to look at the photo of young Phoenix, his handsome face grinning at the camera with an eyebrow arched surrounded by countless adoring stares. He was covered in a red tuxedo, his perfectly smooth hair resting on top of him waiting for anyone to fall at his knees. She moved on again and made it just in time.
"I'm sorry I'm late!" she said, quickly taking her seat. Who am I kidding? Why should I be sorry for this... weirdo?
"That's fine, amica mea," Phoenix said gently, putting on a dazzling smile. "I can never be rude to a guest. Especially you." He reached for her hand and kissed it delicately like before, the simple kind gesture making Valor flush madly.
What the-?!
"No," Valor blurted out before she could stop herself. Phoenix looked at her with a questioning expression, crossing his legs and sipping adrial. "Let me make it up to you." What am I saying? This isn't necessary... Valor thought, disappointed in herself. But she decided to keep on going. "Is there... anything, you'd like me to do?" Valor held onto her napkin fiercely. Ugghhhhh I hate myself! I overslept and was only an hour late!
"Well... I'd like you to come with me somewhere... Even more beautiful than where I took you last time."
Even more beautiful than the place where you stupidly accepted his question of STAYING HERE FOREVER! Valor said to herself.
"Uh." She knew she had to say yes. "O-okay. Where is it?"
"Near the beach. But I'm taking you there in the evening so we could both watch the beautiful sunset together." He lightly snapped his fingers, and dahlias appeared in his hands. Valor's eyes widened.
"Will you come with me?" he asked, flashing his teeth at her. Valor, too stunned to speak, was fidgeting with the tablecloth. "I would very much appreciate it if you say yes, darling." He batted an eyelash at her and leaned forward.
"Uhhh," Valor murmured. Smooth Phoenix, very smooth. Well, two can play at this game! Her eyes sparkled livelily and she smiled, smoothing her natural dark brown waves. "Yes, DARLING, I would absolutely love to go!" Phoenix stared at her, dumbfoundedly. It was a little bit more enthusiastic than what she was going for. She stood up, extending her hip outward, regretting the whole situation. "If you'll excuse me, I'll be heading to my room now."
