Jaebum bolted out of the library as soon as he saw Mark kissing Jinyoung. He stared at the roses in his hands and dumped them on top of a trash can. Whatever someone will clear it away later. Jaebum questioned himself. "What was I thinking? This is not even my style!" He scoffed at the thought that Jinyoung would ever like him back. Jinyoung had gotten what he wanted after all.
When he confronted Jinyoung he admitted that he liked Mark and was only going to be friends to get closer to Mark. This explains why Jinyoung kept visiting him so regularly...he was making use of him. But what puzzled Jaebum was the fact that not once did Jinyoung bring up the topic of Mark during any of their conversations. Jaebum cursed as his mind was in a mess. "Seriously, get out of my head Jinyoung. What kind of game are you playing??" He wanted to hate Jinyoung but he knows that deep down he can't. Not because he was his saviour but because he had fallen for that raven-haired beauty and he knows that he will never fall out of love with him.The next day, there was already news being spread that Jinyoung was dating Mark. Apparently, someone had seen them together. It was the biggest news since the new term started and it had hit the campus by storm. Jinyoung was surrounded by people asking him whether it was true and he had to ask them to mind their own business for the umpteenth time. Some had congratulated him while some were quite bitter that two of the hottest guys on campus were taken. Jackson was suddenly back on campus and he ran towards Jinyoung and squealed when he saw them. "JINYOUNG!! IS IT TRUE THAT YOU ARE DATING MARK???" Jinyoung nodded his head. "Oh my god?!! I was only gone for a while and this happened? Congratulations Jinyoungieeee!" Jackson squeezed Jinyoung into a suffocating hug. "Jinyoung I can't breathe" "I can't breathe either" Jackson pointed at the flowers Jinyoung was holding. "I am allergic to pollen, ACHOO" Jackson started sneezing and Jinyoung pushed Jackson aside and quickly checked the roses for any damage. "Hey, that's disgusting, stay away from my flowers" Jinyoung inhaled the smell of the roses. They smell lovely.
Jinyoung brought the flowers back to his room and placed them in a vase he found. Jinyoung had found them on his way out and he thought it was such a waste to throw them away as they were still rather fresh. It stunned Jaebum when he visited Jinyoung's secret club room and he found himself staring at the familiar roses on Jinyoung's desk. They looked like his!! Jaebum was starting to panic. "When did you get those?" Jinyoung must have picked it up. That's not possible, it should have been cleared away. Did he know that he bought them for him? Did he or did he not??
"Oh...I found them outside the library yesterday. Aren't they lovely? I thought that they were going to die but I think they might survive for a week under my care." Jinyoung sprinkled some water onto the roses and sat back down. Jaebum heaved a sigh of relief. Luckily Jinyoung doesn't know it's his.
"Is there anything you need?"
"Nothing I was just bored. I thought I might come here and annoy you." Jaebum automatically replies.
"Well you are lucky I am in a good mood now and I don't want to argue with you"
Jinyoung was glad to see Jaebum again. "Wait why aren't you surprised by the news of Mark and me?" Jaebum shrugged, "I knew that this was bound to happen, Mark has liked you for a long time" Jinyoung blushed at that. "Ah well, I am just going to see if things work out not that it's anything serious..." Jaebum didn't need to know the details but was pleased with the information. This means he stands a chance.
"Is that all you have to say to me?"
"Thank you for visiting me" Jaebum finally blurts out. To which Jinyoung could not stop himself from grinning. "I can't believe the great Jaebum is thanking me right now, so he finally admits that he likes my presence? I am flattered."
"You have to stop speaking like you are some prince and I am just some royal subject..."
"You know usually the right response is to say thank you and leave. But of course, what do you know about etiquette?"
And just like that the two of them start bickering again.
But Jaebum finds that he enjoys this, even if this is maybe the only way he gains his attention.
"Seriously Jinyoung I am thankful," Jaebum says again. Jinyoung's heart warms at the gentle tone Jaebum was using. He feels happy hearing that.
"I thought you were just tolerating me" Jinyoung admitted.
"No, and would you wipe that smile off your face, I like your company...so don't go assuming things like I dislike you which I don't." Jinyoung's heart warms further hearing that. He knows that instance that Jaebum could be his true friend, the kind of person with who he could be truly free.
Jaebum took a final glance at the roses and left. At least Jinyoung had received his roses in the end and he seemed to like them a lot. Even if he has no clue they were actually from him. He was still happy that he liked them.
