NEW FACES
Dragging the map out of my back pack I start looking at Texas State and trying to remember which towns aren't any were near the Blood Moon Pack territory.
Lets head to Laredo, it's close to the Mexican border. If the need arises we can head over the border and seek asylum in Mexico.
Aries had a valid point, if she doesn't get us killed first.
Our biggest problem is getting from Oregon to Texas. Firstly we have to get through Nevada which would be a little difficult seeing as most rouges love the State. If I hope on a bus I can travel from Oregon to the border of Arizona, but the big problem will be when I have to change busses. From Arizona to Dallas Texas will be easier seeing as I will be on a bus and only have a little over 20minutes to get on the next bus that leaves to Laredo.
22Hours Later...
Finally we reach Las Vegas as I get off the bus I quickly make my way to the bathroom to freshen up and try and mask my scent. I come out coughing and spewing thanks to the $0.99 perfume container I purchased at a local Wal-Mart in Portland. Running to catch the Laredo bus almost ending up as road kill and while getting a nasty look from a granny I finally fall into my seat and stare at the landscape outside as we start travelling to Phoenix, where I unfortunately have to change busses.
Waking up from my slumber I realise I'm on my last stretch of this journey.
4 days of non-stop travelling and minimum food I eventually reach Laredo. Tired and weak I start heading to the Motel in hopes of finding a room for the night before I search for a long term apartment or room to let.
Scoping out the motel entrance I finally decide to enter and walk right up to the friendly looking lady working at the front desk.
"Hi, I'm looking for a single room for one night please" I say in the happiest voice I can manage.
"Good day, sure no problem. My name is Jessica, let me just check which rooms are available at this moment......um......great! Room 24 is vacant and It's $68 for the night. Her shrill voice breaks through my already tired mind.
I flinch and begin digging through my wallet, I'm going to need to find a job soon to be able to afford an apartment and food.
Room 24 wasn't the best room but after having a proper sleep and rest in a bed I won't complain.
Waking up after 6 am and having a soak in the tub I start packing my bag and head down to reception to book out. Thank goodness Jessica wasn't working so I just handed the keys over to a young boy and started walking down the street.
Looking through each window until I spot a "Help wanted" poster, not being a picky worker I walk into the Cake shop.
"Hi, I'm looking for the owner or manager please?" I ask in a friendly tone
"Goodness, you gave me such a fright, Hello dear I'm Mrs Stevens the owner of Cake delight, how can I help you?"
"Hi Mrs Stevens, My name is Sienna Willows. I've recently relocated to Laredo and happen to see your 'help wanted' sign. I was hoping you still have a position available?" Mrs Stevens looks me up and down while a small smile slides over her face.
"Oh my goodness, Yes! I haven't had a lot of interest in the sign seeing as our little town mainly gets tourist. Lets head over to the back table and I'll grab us some coffee and a slice of my famous lemon cake while we discuss this"
Feeling comfortable in her presence I start walking to the table she pointed out, and wait while she gets the refreshments for us.
'This is amazing, not only is she so friendly but she is prepared to employ us.
Sienna do you think we can stay longer in this town' Hearing Aries in my mind I start smirking, she tends to always love small towns.
Feeling eyes on me I look up and see Mrs Stevens moving in m direction with a tray filled to the brim with assorted cake slices and steaming coffee.
"Here let me help you Mrs Stevens!" With a flick of her grey hair she declines my offer and places the tray on the table while walking to the front door and pulling it shut while hanging the closed sign in it.
"Lets have some coffee and cake and talk about the job, I also have a few questions for you." She says while passing me a cup of coffee and a slice of cake.
"Sienna, I have owned this store for the last 30 years but due to my health I cannot keep working here for 8 hours a day. I need someone who can run this store for me. Handle sales and customers as well as do all the management parts that will be needed! Work starts at 8 am and we close at 4 in the afternoon, that still gives you enough time to head to the shops before they close. Salary will be $380 per week and you will work Monday to Friday."
Staring at Mrs Stevens with wide eyes, I cannot accept this job, it pays three times as much as my previous job.
'Mrs Stevens, that is very generous but I'm prepared to work for $200 per week. I will be more than happy to receive that, I don't want to take advantage of your kindness and generosity"
"No no Sienna, that is my rate and with the job comes a little 1 bedroom apartment behind my house. Its included with the job. I don't want to make you uncomfortable but that's my offer."
Tears start falling silently down my cheeks, How can a random Human care this much about a little girl even without knowing me.
"Why are you being so generous Mrs Stevens?" I ask with a slight tremble in my voice.
'My girl I am 65 years old and have seen a lot during my lifetime. What are you running from?" She looks at me with a raised eyebrow her kind eyes showing nothing but compassion.
I know I can't tell her the truth, seeing as she is a human, but I can get her to watch my back in case Nelson ever comes to Laredo.
"I'm running from a guy, he abused me and tried to lock me up and I can't seem to run far or fast enough. It doesn't matter where I go he always finds me. My life has been anything but easy, I can't stay in one place to long....I'm tired of this life, I'm tired of running and I don't want to go on like this. I'm sorry for putting you in this situation, I don't want you to end up in his path, he will destroy anyone who helps me."
I can't keep the tears away anymore and break down. I haven't cried for the past 8 years but today in this ladies presence. I cannot seem to grasp my emotions. I need to get away, I need to protect this human and the only way to help her is to leave this place and never return again.
"I'm sorry Mrs Stevens, I cannot stay here and risk innocent people, he will find me. I need to leave, I'm sorry for wasting your time" I get up and start walking towards the door only to be stopped by a hand gripping my arm.
"You will not run away Sienna, you have done enough running to last you a lifetime. I have a confession too. I'm not a normal person and you my dear cannot hide your scent. Don't be afraid I won't harm you and I won't let him get near you,"
Who is this lady, what if she is working with Nelson. Will I be able to fight her and get away.
'Don't be afraid Sienna, I can feel her magic, she is special and I can sense her good intentions' What magic is Aries referring to?
Why do I feel so empty and scared.
I starting turning to the door but before I reach I started feeling light headed and black invades my mind...
