Jasper had dressed on the down low with a grey hoodie, the hood covering his eyes, and ripped jeans, he just looked like another festival goer.

Omega on the other hand, had dressed in a flame red flannel so bright it might burn out someone's eyes.

Neither looked like they did in their mugshots, Tye was sure even she might not recognize them herself.

The three of them slipped inside, careful to avoid the direct line of sight of the other bodyguards that wandered the streets.

"We'll split up, if you find anything, use the ear comms to tell the others." Tye says, eyes frantically scanning the surroundings for anything that would give her a clue about her suspects.

With quick nods to each other the three of them parted ways.

Tye ran through the crowd avoiding the festivities as best she could. She dodged stilt walkers, fire breathers, sales people and everything in between.

Her ear comm-a little invention Omega had made-buzzed with static as someone established a connection.

Omega's muffled voice could be heard.

"I have eyes on the lady in red, I'm not going to engage until I know what her objective is."

"I just saw Cheshie, I'm going after him." Jasper chimed in.

Tye bit her lip. She now had to go after the worst of the three in her eyes. Before she could sulk over the unfairness of the situation, a white top hat bobbing through the crowd caught her attention.

"I think I found the last one," Tye says triumphantly.

She followed it, jumping from time to time, keeping an eye on the hat and hopefully it's master. Tye's eyes widened when she noticed where he was heading.

Governor Ali's house.

They wanted to steal from the most esteemed members of their society, not that Tye minded, but it would cause an uproar and distrust with everyone.

Governor Ali's mansion was all marble, the walls gleaming with an impossible shine.

She never got to admire the gothic architecture, as she frantically tried to find a way to get the Mad Hatter away from the mansion without raising suspicion and panic.

The moment she stepped over the threshold into the mansion, all her senses were on overload.

Colorful fabric worn by everyone burned her eyes even more than staring right into the sun. Every. Single. Person. Was wearing an overpowering perfume and all their aroma's combined were enough to send Tye's head spinning.

She almost lost her white lead in the sea of people-the cause-a hoard of young operatives.

She had completely blocked out their squeaky questions and childish squeals.

"I don't have time for this." she snarled a little too forcefully. She would have to apologize later when she saw them again.

She began pushing through the crowd again, stopping dead in her tracks when she met the bright green eyes of her prey through the sea of people.

Tye's heart was racing as she backed up, putting distance between her and Mad Hatter's unhinged smile.

Someone passed in front of her line of vision and when they had passed, Tye had lost sight of Hatter.

Tye had forgotten all about her first objective and was now set with getting away with her life.

She turned tail, bolting down the first hallway she saw. The drum of footsteps that followed her shot her heart into her throat.

She skidded around a corner, ducking into the first door she saw.

Tye barely took in the room as she dove under a desk covered in a tarp.

"Now now what kind of greeting was that?" Hatter purred coming through the door.

Tye could already see that unhinged simple plastered to his face.

"Oh a game of hide-and-seek? Interesting choice." he says a little stream of giggles spilling out of his mouth.

"Where oh where could you be my dear?"

Tye hears his footsteps approach her hiding spot. She clamped her hands over her mouth to stifle her fast breathing.

The footsteps stopped in front of her spot, and Tye could no longer breath.

After what felt like hours, they slowly retreated.

Tye let out a little breath of relief.

The next few moments were a blur.

Hatter pulled up the tarp of her hiding spot, grabbing the collar of her shirt and throwing her against the opposite wall. She saw white dots circling her vision and had the vague notion of being picked up by the collar. Once her mind had cleared slightly she felt her heart stop.

She was being held a little above the ground by the collar of her shirt by Hatter's gloved hand. With his other hand, he pressed a switchblade to her throat.

"Now that was just pitiful. I know you could do better. I have half a mind to let you go and give you a second chance." Hatter says, tilting his head slightly.

She had been in worse situations than this, the thing that made her heart stop was that something was missing, something important.

She could see out of her peripheral vision. Her mask was gone.

The overbearing tightness in her throat and the fuzz of her brain stopped any coherent thoughts from forming.

Plague would have been fine, she would have found a weak spot and made an escape, but she wasn't Plague. She was Tye, a nobody who came from nowhere.

Her panic induced state made sure she didn't notice the slight furrow in Hatter's brow as he looked at the panicked woman. This wasn't the same person he had met back in the alley. She had been fearlessly baring her fangs and sharp words, while the woman now was panicked beyond belief. Hatter was sure he could feel her body shaking in his grip.

Taking the knife from her throat, he used it to lightly push a strand of loose hair behind her ear, the cool metal acting as a silent threat as it traced her skin.

"Though those aren't my orders. I will apologize in advance for any discomfort."

Before Tye could panic more, he pulled her off the wall, then slammed her back into it with so much force, her vision went black.
