The Accidental Star

SNOW

" Stop. I don't blame you, " I told her honestly. " If anything, I should be thankful to you. At least he knows that I'm leaving soon. "

" Right, " Rachel agreed. " But I still feel bad for  blurting it out like that and for causing a rift between the two of you. "

" I said stop it, " I said in a firm voice. " I'm just glad that it's out in the open. "

Rachel continued to apologize for what happened earlier that night until we finally placed the phone down.

Without unmuting the TV, I pulled the fleece blanket up to my neck again and shut my eyes. Forcing myself to empty my mind, I tried to sleep.

I was just about to doze off when I heard the front door open. I held the blanket tighter around me when I felt the cold breeze coming from outside.

" Close the door, Rach, " I muttered under my breath clenching my eyes shut. " It's freezing. "

I heard the door closed and I relaxed as I drifted back to dreamland.

" Anne, " a voice said softly and I could see Chang standing in front of me, on top of a thick cloud, as he opened his arms wide for me. " I'm sorry about what happened earlier. "

I hopped on several clouds until I reached him and crashed into his arms. He grinned at me and lightly kissed my forehead before engulfing me in a tight and warm embrace.

" I didn't mean to ruin your night, " he said softly as he gently stroked my hair.

" You smell so nice, " I murmured as I took a sniff of his shirt and wrapped my arms around him. " You always smell nice. "

He chuckled as he tightened his grip on me. And then, he lifted me off my feet. One arm behind my knees, the other arm supporting my back. I snuggled closer to him and sighed contentedly.

And then, we flew. We flew off the cloud that we were on and landed into another. And another. Then he flew farther away from the clouds as he held me tightly in his arms.

I watched the drifting clouds in amazement as I felt the gush of wind against my cheeks. I thought it was the best feeling in the world and I didn't want the dream to end.

Finally, we landed on what looked like a piece of land. He gently dropped me to my feet as he held on to me.

" I love you, Anne, " he whispered as he placed his hands on my shoulders and looked at me earnestly. " You know that, don't you? "

" I do, Chang, " I nodded as I stared into his dark brown eyes. " I love you, too. I hope you know that too. "

He flashed me that megawatt smile that always took my breath away. " I do, baby. "

I wrapped my arms around his neck and tiptoed for a kiss. He dipped his face to meet mine and our lips met in one sweet kiss.

" Anne? " A voice echoed through my head. " Baby, are you awake? "

My eyes shot open and I almost screamed when I saw Chang laying on his side on my bed, watching me in amusement.

I quickly sat up and realized that we were in my bedroom. I looked around in bewilderment trying to recall why we were here.

" You were freezing on that couch, " Chang sat up beside me and gently rubbed my back to calm me down. " So I carried you here. "

I snapped my head to look at him. He was wearing the same jeans and sweatshirt that I saw him wore in my dream. I looked down at myself and saw that I was wearing the same pair of pajamas that I saw myself wore in that same dream.
