“This place doesn’t seem safe.” Said by a very nervous teenage girl, who looked around her to make sure nothing was there. She heard noises that sounded like trees, and she also heard something break; maybe it was a branch. “Isaac, could we please go back.” She asked her friend, who seemed annoyed with her request because he rolled his eyes as soon as that question left her lips.
“Stop being such a scaredy cat, Eve. Learn to live a little.” Isaac said with not much care in his voice. In all honesty, Isaac finds Evelyn to be too clingy to him. He came into the woods to really get away from her, but she still followed blindly after him. Why must she have a crush on him?
Evelyn and Isaac are just two sixteen year old high school students who have been very close since elementary school. They grew up together and lived next to each other. No one can separate them from one another. They’re stuck like glue. Even though Isaac is displeased with Evelyn’s personality; he loves her merely as best friends. Just one night, this night; Evelyn thought it was a good idea to follow her crush- best friend into the woods. At night, Isaac finds the area very beautiful and exciting. Evelyn finds everything outside, in the pitch blackness scary; even a flower she likes to look at in the daytime.
“Isaac, can we please leave?” She asked again, but this time she reached out and held on to his arm. She wanted to stay close to him. “This nightmare is scarier than I thought. It's much more horrifying.” Evelyn tried her best to convince Isaac to listen to her and turn back, but he wouldn’t reason with her. He doesn’t care if she’s scared. If she didn’t like the dark, she should have followed him in the first place.
“Stop being a baby. If you want to leave, then I won’t stop you.” He said, pushing her hands off his arm, which now slightly hurt because of her cobra snake like grip. “Go back by yourself. I’m not leaving just yet.” Isaac glanced at her for a minute to see her panicked face. He rolled his eyes.
“Y-You want me to go back by myself?” She shook her head and stomped her foot on a tree root. “NO! Not by myself.” She shouted, hitting Isaac’s back. She was too frightened to walk to her house alone. However, all her pleading to Isaac to come with her failed. None of her concerns of her safety and his didn’t seem to make Isaac think any differently. “Fine! Whatever! You’re such a jerk!” She shouts before pointing her camera phone light in the direction of their neighborhood. Isaac sighed out, finally able to relax now and actually enjoy his walk.
“She’s so annoying.” Isaac continued on his walk while Evelyn angrily made her way home without looking back. She is fed up with Isaac’s attitude. However, Isaac knows she’ll get over it the next day. Evelyn stomps through the door, not caring how late it is.
“He’s such a jerk.” She huffed out, and her mom, who was sitting on the couch, looked over at her with a raised brow. She knows who her daughter is talking about, but she’s not too worried about it. What she is worried about is the fact that Evelyn is late coming home.
“Evelyn why are you getting here so late? It’s 2 AM, and it’s a school night.” She said, but Evelyn seemed too annoyed to care about what her mom just said about school. Mrs. Welch sighed and set her book down so all of her attention was on her daughter. "Who's a jerk?" Evelyn smiled a bit before she went over to her mom, who was willing to listen to her.
"Isaac is the jerk." She started. "We were walking in the woods when I started to get scared and wanted to leave; but Isaac was being a fat jerk and was telling me to go home by myself, alone." The dramatic teen finished her short explanation. What she wasn't expecting was her mom chuckling afterward. "What's so funny?"
"I just realized what's going on. You're upset that he didn't walk you home like a date would." Her mom spoke, and she wanted to laugh more when she saw Evelyn get all flustered with what she said. "Am I right?"
