Luther stared at five blankly, trying to process everything. "So... (Y/n) will grow up with us?"

Five nodded, "Yes. It's a flimsy plan, but it's the best shot we've got to saving the world."

"But are you really okay with that!? I mean- you'll be stuck in the future by yourself."

"If things work out, I won't have to spend 45 years alone. Do you understand now?"

Luther pursed his lips together and hesitantly nodded. "So what do we have to do?"

Reader's POV

I walked myself back to the Academy, which, of course, took forever considering that in my current form I couldn't get anywhere without being stopped by some creep or an adult asking if I was lost. At the very least, I was getting my exercise in. By the time I actually arrived back, I was reasonably exhausted. I threw off my shoes and plopped down on the stairs.

Pogo was the first to discover me and offered a cup of water. I took it from him gingerly and gulped the cool liquid down.

"Have you seen any of the others?" I said as he took the cup back.

"It appears only Miss Allison is here at the moment. I'm afraid none of the others have returned since yesterday." Pogo answered.

I nodded and thanked Pogo for the water before heading into the kitchen.

"Al?" I called out. "You in here?"

She looked up from her spot at the table and offered a small smile. She was dressed rather nicely, with a white top and her signature dark pants and heels. Her coat was draped over her chair and her purse sat on the table next to her.

"Heya (Y/n), where've you been this whole time?"

"Out with your idiot brothers." I answered plainly, "What are you all dressed up for?"

"I'm gonna surprise Vanya with breakfast. Y'know, Petrola's bakery? You took us there once when we were younger."

I laughed, "Yeah, I remember that! How Vonnie was too shy to order on her own."

"Geez, it's been forever since I've heard any of the nicknames you gave us." Allison said, suddenly overcome by bittersweet nostalgia.

"Why's that?"

"Well... It was really hard on us- when you left, I mean." Allison began hesitantly, "But, well, one brother in particular just couldn't move forward."

Flashback

3rd POV

Diego wasn't perfect.

That was a well regarded fact that everyone knew. It certainly didn't help that he was constantly reminded of his flaws by his father and, on occasion, his siblings too. He was sick of it. He hated never being anyone's first choice. Not as a son, or a brother, or even a friend.

However, that all seemed to change whenever (Y/n) was around. She never played favorites with them. Sure, maybe she babied Ben a little more, but Diego knew she had her reasons for it, and so he didn't mind. She still made time for him and was always quick to make sure he knew she cared. Sometimes the roles were switched, and it was Diego who (Y/n) depended on.
