XVIII • THE DEVIL COMES HERE AND SIGHS

Start from the beginning

"I don't mean to pressure you, but we're running out of time." Monique said.

"A sigil is a complicated magical symbol, weaponized and condensed to its most potent form. If I combine the right elements, we'll have a chance at stopping Lucien, and if I don't..." Freya trailed off, just as the loud, distinct sound of panicked knocking is heard from downstairs at the main door.

Freya and Monique share a relatable alarmed look as they, led by Elijah, rush to the courtyard downstairs, though Hayley beats them there, in which she rushes toward Cami and Marisa with a deeply concerned expression.

"Hayley." Marisa, who's undeniably horrified by Lucien's doing, called out.

"What's wrong?" Hayley averts her worried gaze between the two cousins.

"It's--" Marisa cuts herself off mid-sentence as she looks away, teary-eyed.

"It's Klaus..." Cami frantically informed her, "...Lucien has him." After the violent fight the two young men had earlier at an alley near the apartment.

"What?" Uttered Monique after she shares an anxious look with her lover.

Hayley quickly turns to shout for the trio, who are walking up to them as they speak, alarmed by this dreadful news, "Freya! Invite her in!" ASAP.

Freya, seemingly overwhelmed, slowly nods, "Yeah, come in, you're invited." Especially when something concerns her own family about a huge threat.

"Thank you." Marisa, whose invitation isn't necessary for being a witch, quickly steps inside past the threshold first, sincerely grateful for their aid.

Cami seems nervous as she takes a step forward with her left heeled boot, and once she crosses the threshold with no problems after her cousin, she rushes toward them. Hayley takes a look outside to make sure no one else is coming before trailing after the group in the spacious courtyard.

"What do you mean Lucien has him?" Monique questioned frantically.

"Tell us what happened." Elijah Mikaelson sternly added on.

Marisa shakes her head a little, "They got into a fight, and Klaus lost."

"Lucien ambushed him. He knocked him around like it was nothing."

"Oh no. Did he bite him?" Hopefully not; a horrified Monique asked.

Cami shakes her head, "No. I think he wanted him alive. I followed them. Lucien took Klaus back to the penthouse." Aurora's probably there.

Just then, a phone vibrates, and a scowl comes upon Elijah's face when he sees that he has received a text, "Lucien is demanding my presence at the Whiskey Cask-- alone and immediately. He says if I delay, Niklaus will die."

"That's because you're the one he wants, considering you were the one who compelled him, and Aurora, and took a hundred years of their lives. If you go there, he's going to kill you." Monique shakes her head in denial by this.

Just like what he did to Finn. A bite with no cure. She can't lose Elijah, her own best friend and one true love, she can't even bear the thought of loss. Although what other alternative does he have but to rescue his brother?
