Sophie squealed. "I can see a bit of--"
"Yeah, you too," I say, interrupting Sophie's squealing.
We went our separate ways and I followed Sophie to class. It was a government class, which is called Social Science, and I can assume that I'm going to be bored.
The teacher was a dude, a Caucasian dude. He was tall, and muscular. Sophie told me that he's a cool teacher and gives out work that you can understand to. She also told me that he stands at his door for students to come in. If the door close, you're late.
"Well, we're late," Sophie informed. "Sorry about that."
"No, it's cool. In the future, I would probably be late to his class anyway."
She opens the door and I see most of the students in their seats, doing work that was on the board. The students looks at us, and of course I saw Will smirking at me.
"Ladies, I can see that you're late," the teacher said when he came towards us.
"I was showing your new student, Jasmine to your class," Sophie responded.
I waved awkwardly. "Hi, I'm Jasmine."
"Well, I'm Mr. Kels, and you missed some things. But, you can catch up."
"I can call you, Mr. K, right?" I asked him.
"Sure. No one calls me that before." He gave me pieces of paper with writing on it. One of the papers is the syllabus. The syllabus tells you all of the class rules, the grading system, and so on. You need to keep that." I checked the papers and it's filled with lesson plans and assignments.
Great, a hard ass teacher.
"Also, there will be a Do Now on the board. Every twenty do nows, I'll be collecting them. Don't worry, you'll catch up with the assignments."
Sophie moves to go to her seat, talking to one person.
"Mr. K, where do I sit," I asked him.
"Oh, you're right behind Lea. Lea, raise your hand." The girl, which I now know it's Lea, raised her hand. The seats are in rows so, I'm sitting in the back.
I walked towards Lea and went to my seat. Sophie sits near the blackboard on the right.
"Okay, guys. Let's do the--" The door opened loudly, and of course the dumb ass by the name of Will comes marching in.
"Sorry that I'm late to class, Mr. Kels. I have to--"
"No excuses. I'm taking points off your participation," Mr. K said. "Will, answer the do now for me."
He reads the do now on the board. "The Declaration of Independence means that everyone should know why the colonies are separating from Great Britain. Basically, everyone wants independence back in the day." He walks to his seat, but first touched my hair. "Nice to see you, Sparkle." I rolled my eyes and he walks to his seat near the window.
"Well, that's correct. Does anyone else want to add?" Mr. K looks at me. "How about you, Jasmine?"
Shit, why me? "Um, I remembered that they should have rights or natural rights, which means rights that you're born with. Also, they should have unalienable rights, which are life, liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness."
Everyone looks at me in shock. "What? I know answers."
"That's ..." Mr. K looks at me in shock. "How did you--"
"I paid attention in my other Government class before I came here. For a delinquent, I'm smart."
The class chuckled. I feel good that I can still make people laugh after all the shit that happened in the past.
