She smiled as she gathered whom remained of the group, disregarding her mate who stayed behind to complete Pack work and 'rally forces' as he said. Mila, Clyde, Will and Avery set off for the lake. This time, determination and love for one another echoing in their linked hands. A love unlike any other.

Before long they had reached the lakeside and each sighed a deep breath or relief after spending so long couped up in a village. Then the Portal spoke.

"When did you figure it out?" Its essence brooded by a tree as humour marked its features.

"It just made sense. You've mentioned your powers before and I reckoned if I took the chance to find out if it were true or not, either way, I'd be benefited. Either I'd have you as a friend or as an ally who can aid me magically," Avery replied.

It stayed hanging by the tree as it 'smirked'. Ah, the tree. Of course. How typical. She should have known.

She smirked slightly and looked to Will as he quietly demanded to know what in hell they were talking about.

"Do you remember teleporting from that clearing, the day the Queen's guards were chasing us?" Will nodded and the rest of the group listened intently, eager to hear the rest. Avery said no more and gestured to the Portal. The group barked out curses as the stood awe-struck.

"He teleported us," Mila confirmed.

Avery nodded. "We need look no further than it for magical assistance. I finally know the way home." She didn't crack on any sob as she let the tears fall down her delicate face. "It will help me go there..." She had to pause as she took a steadying breath.

"As long as she does a final task for me." Avery looked to The Portal as spoke for her. "Find and kill the Queen responsible for damning this world." It chuckled as it slipped away from the tree and moved to bask nearer the group. The tree followed the Portal, walking on strong roots. She saw it coming but Clyde. He just stood watching. Waiting.

"It uses magic," Mila exclaimed, too baffled to say anything else.

"So dramatic, the lot of you."

Mila gasped, "It can speak."

"Yes, it can speak. But please, for the love of everything perky and bright, stop calling me it. I have a name."

It was Clyde's turn to gasp, albeit jokingly. "It has a name." Mila glared at him, flipped him off, nodded at Will who then sent him barrelling him into the lake.

"Well deserved," muttered Will, once again with a look of boredom. Nice to know he valued their friendship so well.

"Ahli. Please call me Ahli."

Avery smiled at the name. It had been a while since she had smiled so much.

She missed it.

The world faded, joined by the wisping and whirling of the Dark Creature. Surrounded by swirling phantoms and shadows of a kind, Avery basked in its presence, away from the busy world. For a moment, she experienced a taste of the Creatures' peacefulness. Why the being always seemed so collect. Because even when everything in the world began crumbling down, it had somewhere relaxing to escape and calm. The magic lasted several more seconds, a flash that Avery would remember forever. She'd never fully appreciated the small moments, had thought they were meek and unnecessary. She couldn't help but start now.

Too soon, her friends and her were snapped out of the capturing day dream, falling on the ground, gasping for air, all frowning at the familiar location the Dark Creature had teleported them. Only this time, it was intentional.

She picked herself up, wiping her hands on her pants before putting a hand out towards Connor. In return, he placed a hidden hammer from his bag in her hands, smiling as Avery wandered the Throne room. She swung the hammer between the thumb and pointed finger on one hand and though they ached in protest, she continued for effect. Perhaps she overdid the scrutiny of the room, knowing indeed what her prey awaited, and the consequence it would have.

She really didn't give a damn as she let out a battle cry so loud it shook the mirrors hanging high above the tall ceiling, and sprinted towards the glass Throne. Bringing the hammer down, she shattered it into pieces.
