That Friday morning I woke up early to ran at our school field to get rid my nervousness. I was trembling because that day was my audition for Juilliard. It came so fast that I don’t know whether I am now ready to compete with Sohee. She’s one of the best ballerina in our country so that makes me more uneasy. While walking back to my dormitory my phone rang. An unkown number was calling me.
“Hello. Who is this?”
“It’s me Chanyeol. I just want to cheer you up. Be confident and enjoy that moment, okay? Don’t be nervous because you’re competing with Sohee just be proud because it seems like you’re in the same level right? Fighting!”
“Oh thank you for comforting me again but yah Chanyeolssi! Why are you using other number?”
“This belongs to my closest senior. Just disregard this number okay because he might kill me if he found out that I used his phone.”
“Oh….”
“Goodbye!”
“Eh? Oh goodbye.”
Through that simple conversation with him my confidence lifted up. After having my breakfast at the canteen I headed straight to our practice room there I saw Sohessi warming up. I came close to her and gave her a friendly smile. She pinched my cheeks and said that I am cute.
“Am I cute, really?”
“Yeah! Don’t be timid again if you don’t want to be called cute. Goodluck.”
“Thank you Soheessi.”
Ahyoung came in the room right in time because I felt so awkward with Sohee that time. Ahyoung volunteered to be my hair and make-up stylist. She brought with her a huge plastic bag containing her make-up and accessories then she immediately dragged me to the nearest comfort room.
“Okay here we go. I’ll make you the prettiest ballerina today my friend.”
“Stop it. My face wouldn’t change at all. I’m still ugly and tan.”
“If pessimistic is a crime, I guess you’ll be in prison now. I don’t know what to do with you!”
“What did you say?”
“You should be in jail!”
“And why?”
“Because of your personality! You should change now Jang Woori!”
“Whatever.”
After dressing up, Ahyoung left me in the comfort room. She told me that professor Ahn was looking for her because she did not inform him that she will cut his class. My hands started sweating while waiting. I am very sure that time I was not anymore nervous but just a little it. However it seems like something was wrong that day. I felt troubled it’s like my instinct tells me that a bad luck will come. Suddenly Ms. Lee knocked on the door and asked me to come with her in the dance theater. I found Sohee already dressed up in the waiting room. She was having a nap. I sat on the chair beside her. Then she whispered something.
“Nervous?”
I nodded. All along I thought she was sleeping. Sohee told me that she still have butterflies in her stomach every time she is competing. I asked why she still feels that isn’t it weird because she is a now a professional. Sohee added that she is not afraid at all to the judges neither the audiences but she is more afraid of her parents.
”I hate them whenever they put their eyes on me while I am performing. It seems like I am always lacking something. I am only doing this for them. At first I thought this is my passion but as time goes by I became sick of doing this and it just a hobby to me now. “
