"We need to talk," Alec spoke up, Kiara finally dressed walked up to him, while brushing her hair. Alec finally turned to face her, no trace of embarrassment left but something was wrong about the way he looked at her. Like he was dying to tell her something.

"So, let's talk."

"Alone," Alec watched his sister who was clearly listening in, "I need to speak with you alone and give you something." Isabelle tired of Alec staring at her significantly, huffed and made for the door.

"As long as he's not giving you his virginity, yet-"Alec pulled his little sister's hair like he did when they were little to make her shut up but Isabelle grinned and had her own way. "I completely approve that the two of you, should have as much 'alone time', as possible." With that she shut the door behind her.

"Um...sorry about Izzy...I" Alec stuttered, unsure what to say. Kiara laughed lightly.

"That's quite alright, I don't mind and as for you, liking me..." For a moment alarm passed across Alec's face but Kiara barely saw it. "Doesn't everyone?" Alec rolled his eyes and smiled. "So, what did you want to tell me?"

"I'm sorry." He blurted abruptly, Kiara looked down at her feet, which were bare, she saw this coming but she wished he didn't apologize.

"Alexander," Alec perked up at the sound of his full name but he didn't want her to interrupt him. He grasped Kiara's arms, in contrast to the last time Alec did that, he was gentle. He pulled Kiara closer to him and she was forced to look up at him. Kiara didn't need to hear him say it to believe. His blue eyes were filled with regret and he looked so...vulnerable? Kiara didn't think what he did was that serious and she was in the wrong too.

"I'm sorry, I let my emotions-" Kiara cut him off by pressing a simple kiss on his cheek, it was meant to be a peck but she found herself straying for a second too long. "What was that for?" Alec asked her, confused and wondering why he held his breath when Kiara kissed him.

"The best way to shut someone up, is by surprising them."

"But I'm trying to-"

"Apologize? I don't need to hear it, Alec. If anything, I need to apologize." Alec furrowed his eyebrows, "I shouldn't have said all those things because..."

"Because..?" Alec cocked his head to the side and searched her grey eyes, as if they held the answers.

"Because you were right, I'm a liar. Not for the reasons you thought- or still think- but I am. More importantly, I know exactly how you feel." Kiara paused and checked Alec for his reaction. Sure enough, though he didn't try to stop her, his defenses have gone up and his face held no expression.

"How would you... of all people, know how I feel?" Alec asked her softly, "How would you know, what it feels like to have the burden of taking responsibility of a wayward sister, a parabatai with a death wish and a little brother who's not even around much." Kiara listened and let Alec continue, "Always trying to prove to your parents, that you're capable of more than they think you do but somehow it will always be Jace. "Keeping a secret for so long, hiding yourself, being afraid of how the people, even the ones closest to you would feel about it and... if it weren't for Isabelle. Well... I don't think I give her enough credit." At this point, Kiara wasn't sure if Alec was aware that she was right there.

The more he spoke; he seemed to become freer. He was not angry, bitter or jealous but sad. " Kiara placed a finger on his lips so he'd stop talking. Alec glanced down at her, his eyes were glassy and once more his hair fell over it. Kiara no longer ignored the impulse and brushed them away. Alec felt his eyelids grow heavy and flicker, he found himself leaning into Kiara's touch. Kiara stood on her toes and spoke softly.
