Chapter 21

We had just got comfortable as the clock chimed on the wall and the portrait while burst open. Me and Hermione quickly sprung apart as Ron and Harry appeared from under the invisibility cloak. They told us they'd been down to Hagrid's hut, helping him feed Norbert, who had now moved onto eating dead rats.

(A.N: Watch out Scabbers lol)

"It bit me!" Ron exclaimed, showing us his hand which was wrapped in a bloody handkerchief. "I'm not gonna be able to use a Quill for a week. I tell you, that Dragon's the most horrible creature I've ever met, but the way Hagrid goes on about it, you'd think it was a fluffy little bunny be rabbit. When it bit me he told me off for frightening it. And when we left he was singing him a lullaby."

"That's Hagrid for you." I said with a small chuckle.

"Guys look, it's Oswald!" I said, motioning to the owl that was now on the window sill. The four of us crowded around as I took the letter and read the response Charlie had sent.

Dear Ron,

How are you? Thanks for the letter, I'd be glad to take the Norwegian Ridgeback, but it won't be easy getting him here. I think best thing to do is send him over with some friends of mine who are coming to visit me next week. Trouble is, they mustn't be seen transporting an illegal Dragon.

Could you get the Ridgeback up the tallest tower at midnight on Saturday? They can meet you there and take him away while it's still dark.

Send me and answer as soon as possible.

"We have my invisibility cloak so it shouldn't be hard." Harry shrugged. "It shouldn't be too difficult, and I think the cloak is big enough to cover two of us and Norbert."

Originally, Harry and Ron were the ones to go but because Ron has to make a mess out of everything and get bit by the Dragon, he's ended up in the Hospital Wing due to his hand swelling up.

"It's not just my hand," he whispered, "although that feels like it's about to fall off. Malfoy told Madam Pomfrey he wanted to borrow one of my books so he can come and have a good laugh at me."

I laughed when he said this, earning me a slap from Hermione.

"Ow, seriously Hermione, I don't appreciate this abuse."

She simply gave me an innocent smile as Ron continued.

"He kept threatening to tell her what really bit me. I've told her it was a dog, but I don't think she believes me, I shouldn't have hit him at the Quidditch match, that's why he's doing this."

Harry and Hermione tried to calm Ron down, me however, I was enjoying the sight of Ron panicking.

"It'll all be over at midnight on Saturday." Hermione said trying to soothe Ron, but happened to do the exact opposite.

"Midnight on Saturday!" He said in a hoarse voice. "Oh no, oh no! I've just remembered, Charlie's letter was in that book Malfoy took, he's going to know we're getting rid of Norbert!"

"Ron you bloody idiot! You had one god damn job! Make sure the letter doesn't get lost or fall into the wrong hands!" I was fuming, he had one stupid job and now Malfoy has the chance to start even more trouble.

No one else got the chance to speak Madam Pomfrey ushered us out, saying Ron needed to sleep.

"It's too late to change the plan now," I told the other two, "we haven't got time to send Oswald back to Charlie with another letter, and this could be our only chance to get rid of Norbert. We'll have to risk it. And Harry has his invisibility cloak, Malfoy doesn't know that."

I was silently praying to Merlin that luck was on our side.
