Trixie stood in the kitchen, making the night's dinner. She hadn't really thought about anything other than the short phonecall she shared with Max. Why now? Trixie was happy after all the bullshit that her insecurities had put her through. Part of her wanted to just block Max while some other part, that is way less smart, wanted to meet up with Max. She didn't expect them to be friends or anything but she wanted answers. "Trixie, did you not hear the freaking doorbell?" Farrah came stomping down the stairs, annoyed. Trixie blinked a few times, trying to bring herself back to reality. What was she thinking? There was no way she could see Max. "Trixie?"
"Huh?"
"I said you have a package."
"Oh, thanks." Trixie wiped her hands on her apron and put on a smile, taking the box from her sister.
"What's gotten into you today?"
"What do you mean?"
"Don't play dumb. You are acting like you are just stuck on space mountain." Trixie sighed and sat at the table, putting her head down.
"Max called me."
"Wait, what?"
"I said Max called me."
"I hope you didn't answer." Farrah crossed her arms, staring at her older sister. "You did didn't you? Why?! Why did you answer?"
"I didn't know it was her. She got a new phone."
"Well."
"Well what?"
"Don't play dumb. What did she want?"
"She was telling me that she will be in town."
"And?"
"And she wants to see me.."
"No."
"I don't really think that's your say so Farrah."
"Well, I'm sure as hell not letting you decide on your own. Did you forget how bad she hurt you? How much you cried and just how you lost yourself because of that..that bitch!"
"I don't need your preaching Farrah."
"I'm not, I just don't want to see you hurt again. Did you forget about Katya?"
"What about her?"
"How do you think she's going to feel about her girlfriend meeting up with her ex?" Trixie stared into Farrah's eyes, before looking away.
"I don't have a problem with it." Farrah and Trixie turned to see Katya standing in the doorway of the kitchen.
"Katya.."
"You can't really be fine with her seeing Max."
"Why wouldn't I?"
"The better question is, why the hell would you?"
"Listen Farrah, Trixie needs closure. I'm not going to stop her from getting that and neither should you. Trixie, you can go see Max if you want. I'm not going to get in the way." Farrah huffed and stood up from the table, walking to the stairs.
"I think this is a stupid mistake." And with that, Farrah disappeared up the stairs to her room. Trixie sighed and walked to the oven, checking on dinner.
"Katya.."
"Yeah?"
"Why?"
"Why what?"
"Why are you so comfortable with the idea?"
"Like I said, I trust you. And I know you are looking for closure. Yeah, you have moved on from it but I know there are still things that don't make sense."
"Is it that obvious?"
"What do you mean?"
"That I am still kinda hung up on it?"
"I wouldn't say that you are hung up on it, you're just hurt and that is understandable. If you were hung up on it, we wouldn't be dating. You pushed yourself past the pain from that relationship and gave yourself a chance to be happy." Katya stood behind Trixie, holding onto her girlfriend's waist.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
"Um if I go, will you go with me?"
"Sure, but why?"
"Because I don't want her getting the wrong idea." Katya chuckled as she kissed Trixie's cheek.
"If you want me to come with you then I will."
"Thank you baby."
"Of course. Now, when can we eat because that smells amazing?"
"In a little bit."
"Good."
***
"Do you think Farrah will stay upset with me?" Trixie stood at the foot of the bed, drying her hair.
"I don't think so."
"Hmm, I hope not."
"I'm sure she is just worried, she doesn't want to see you hurt again."
"I get that but still. She could have been a little more supportive." Trixie sat on the bed and covered her face.
"Hey, hey it will be okay. She will get over it."
"I want her to understand, not just get over it. I know she thinks I am stupid for even dating Max in the first place."
"Why do you say that?"
"When she first met Max, she told me that she was no good. Said that she had a way about her. I didn't listen and well we know how it ended."
"You can't beat yourself up about that."
"I can and have."
"Trixie, we all make mistakes."
"But I could have looked at the signs and listened to my friends and family. I didn't though because I wanted them to be wrong. I want to have something good for once, something that wasn't just given to me. I was so happy when Max and I started dating, but some things just aren't meant to happened." Katya kissed the top of Trixie's head as she hugged her.
"I will never hurt you like she did okay? I won't say that I'll never hurt you at all because I don't think that is possible but I will never do what she did."
"I know."
"Now, let's stop with all that sad stuff. I have to beat you in Mario Kart."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yep, I sure do."
"If you say so."
