"We're racing each other, but for now let's team up and form a path" A student called, and explosion sounded as Bakugo quickly lifted himself up through the air with his quirk. Soon to be joined by other of our class members. We had set off together, 'Why aren't we using me?' he picked up a bit of robot that Todorki had managed to break off "Because I need to show I can do something!" Suddenly he hit one of the robots behind us with it, I didn't even sense the robot was there. He kept hold of the piece as he continued running, suddenly robots were exploded and I moved my gaze, Momo had formed a canon that had shot them all down. The path was clear, and we began to run again, the next obstacle was a bunch of small islands connected by thin rope. We cleared it by Deku crawling from it hanging upside down, as I crawled on top of the wire, making sure not to step on his hand 'It would be quicker if I-'
"Ember I got this!"
We were running once again, and listened to an announcement of the next obstacle 'land mines' "Someone's already reached the last obstacle"
'we would too if I could just help' he stopped and looked out at the field the metal scrap still in his hand. "This isn't over yet" He dug the scrap into the ground "Hold on ember" He moved so I was on his stomach, one hand protecting me the other holding onto the scrap. Suddenly he slammed us down and we flew through the air, I cheered as we overtook Bakugo and Todoroki. "I flew over them like how I planned, but I don't know how to land" the two both moved to catch up to us. He held onto me tightly as we began to spin in the air, "You've gotta hold on" I looked at him and nodded, turning into my human form I clutched on. He used both hands to bring down the scrap as he slammed it to the ground, taking out both Bakugo and Todoroki. He rolled where I pushed him to his feet, moving to sit on his shoulders again as we ran, Todoroki and Bakugo both fought to catch up with us again. I watched from behind the wind blowing through my hair 'This is way to close Deku' he grunted pushing himself more.
"The winner of the race is!" There was a pause "Izuku Midoriya! And his quirk Ember!" the crowd fell into an uproar of cheer, as Deku fought to catch his breath, I moved my gaze up tapping him. He looked up to see All Might clapping at him fighting to hold in his tears the pair both smiled at each other, he began to cry, and I moved my tail to cover his face. As the class all began to pile back into the arena, we heard a familiar, yet worn out, voice "Deku" it was Ochaco "That was amazing! You got first place, I'm jealous!" he covered his face hiding his blush.
I stared down at him squinting my eyes, what's the deal with him? We could've been winning that from the start with me, but he refused to use me every time. I moved my gaze up to All Might, his gaze moved to mine, did he say something? My gaze moved to Aizawa who was beat up badly and bandaged, my thoughts going back to when I was being smashed into the concrete, the look on Deku's face when I was. I moved my gaze to him, is he worried about me?
"The first challenge for the first years is over!" Midnight announced, "Let's take a look at the scores" The scores played on the screen, revealing where everyone came. I smiled as we stood at the top of the leader board. "Now the real fun is about to begin, a chance to move yourself into the limelight" she smiled "The next challenge" The screen appeared behind her again "Cavalry battle!" she began to explain it, explaining the scores. "The score value for a person in first place is! Ten Million!" Deku was listening intensely till then. "Ten Million?" He muttered his voice high pitched and laced with fear. Everyone gazed at the two of us like we were prey, and them the predators, I shrunk behind his shoulders as he had to endure it all. 'Deku' he nodded his head 'We're gonna die' He nodded his head once again.
"You ready? Now make your teams!" Everyone all seemed to move away from us in an instant, Deku moved to try to make teams but ultimately, we failed "Hey Deku!" Uraraka called out "Lets team up!" We both cheered in happiness
"Are you sure, everyone will be after me and my ten million stupid points?!" He cried out, Ochacco simply smiled up at him "If we run away the whole time, we'll be fine right?" she beamed a smile "Anyway it's better to team up with people you like!"
"Actually I wanted to team up with you too, thanks a lot" he explained "For a game that needs a lot of team work its good that you find people you communicate smoothly with" she nodded her head at his words "In fact if we had your quirk, and one other person" he paused "You know what I think we might have a solid plan" the pair both walked toward Iida "Iida!" he turned. We all began scheming a plan "A good strategy but I'm sorry" we all looked up at him "I'm afraid I must refuse your offer"
"Huh?"
"Since this all started I've been loosing to you, please don't take this as an insult you're a great friend, but if I continue to follow you" He pushed his glasses up his nose "I'll never get stronger" he moved his gaze to Deku's "Bakugo and Todoroki have challenged you already, but they're not the only ones who see you as a rival" he began to walk away "Midoriya, I'll try my best to defeat you"
"Woah, Iida" Uraraka spoke. Our gazes moved around at all our class-mates glares.
"Oh, perfect your still alone" A voice spoke from behind us, a girl with pink dreadlocked hair stood behind us "Team up with me person in first place!" She shouted her face merely a inch away from Deku's face "Woah too close who are you!" she let out a chuckle
"I'm a student in the support course" she lifted her glasses "The name's Mei Hatsume"
"Oh, you're that weirdo from the obstacle course" Uraraka explained
"We haven't met, but I'd like to use your personal fame to my advantage" she began to squeal about how we can show her off for being recruited. I was pushed off Deku's shoulders were Ururaka caught me "Oh yeah, she doesn't care about me" She muttered, and I nodded my head. She placed me on her shoulders watching Deku and Mei talk about the gadgets that were brought in, "They sure get along well" She muttered, and I nodded my head. After it was sorted, we watched as Deku began to walk away, placing his hand on someones shoulder "Join me"
The timer had gone off and Tokoyami was now in our team, I sat on Deku's lap as he placed the band round my head, already confirming with Midnight it was allowed. "Ready?" Deku called out
"Yeah!" Uraraka answered
"Hatsume?" she just laughed up at him "Tokoyami?"
"Yes"
"Let's do this!" A countdown sounded and it had begun. The students all set off running towards us, I squealed burying myself deeper into Deku's lap "They're not even giving us a chance huh" Tokoyami spoke "Such is the fate of the pursuit"
"We're running away!"
"Not so fast" Suddenly we began to sink into the ground, the boy at the front of one of the teams was using his quirk "I can't move!" Uraraka cried and Deku, looked down at the ground before holding on a switch he was giving "Uraraka, Hatsume hide your faces!" He pressed it and the jet pack began to fire up, we were flying, "Jirou now!" Earphone jacks flew towards us, but Tokoyami's dark shadow stopped it mid action. "Good work, please continue to watch over our dark spots, dark shadow" I stared up at his quirk in amazement, it was like me! I found someone like me Deku chuckled from my thoughts and the smile on my face. "Tokoyami, your amazing!"
"You are the one who chose me" He spoke, moving his gaze away.
"We're landing!" Uraraka called out. Uraraka allowed us to land safely, and as we did so Hatsume looked up "What do you think of my babies? Aren't they just great!" She cheered. Deku agreed and I chuckled after hearing Uraraka's little "I the one making them float" comment.
Suddenly two teams began to race after us "We need breathing room" Tokoyami spoke "We can't get trapped between two opponents"
"Oh no" Uraraka cried
"Is something wrong?" Deku called looking behind him
"Yeah I'm stuck" She answered revealing one of Mineta's balls stuck to her foot. Suddenly it became a battle against Asui's tongue and Mineta's quirk. "Quickly we must move!" Tokoyami called, she moved to use her boots trying to go against Mineta's quirk, breaking off the bottom of her shoe. "My baby's broken!" Hatsume called out.
"Sorry, but at least we got away from them" A large explosion sounded, as Bakugo began to fly through the air, "It's Kachann!"
"I've got you!" He reached out to grab me, and I ducked away
"Tokoyami!" Deku called out, and Dark Shadow quickly stopped the attack, suddenly Bakugo was brought back landing back in his team's arms. "Is that even allowed?"
"He never touched the ground, so technically, yes"
"Nice going Uraraka!" Deku complimented, she looked up at him obviously worn out
"It's hard to control where we're going with just one foot" Deku fell into his thoughts, the class of 1B explained their plan to Bakugo, riling him up and I felt Deku sigh "Guy's I thin we're all right!" We turned suddenly having to avoid a team that moved in front of us. Todroki sat upon our classmate's scowling deeply at Deku, he sighed "I thought we had it made, guess I was wrong"
"I'll be taking that now"
