Everyone froze, and the tall slim guy walked over to the door and stopped. "Who is it? We're closed." He shouted. There was no response after a few moments. "Looks like it was nobody."
Then another three knocks came. He looked frustrated, so he bent down and lifted the door just a little and got in the way of the intruder to block their view. "Look lady, we're closed." He told them rudely.
"What a shame." A familiar voice told him. "My truck broke down right outside your shop, and my pup isn't very happy." Victoria, and she looked behind him and saw me. "Oh my, what are you monsters doing to this poor boy?" Why did she sound like a genuinely scared lady?
The slim guy opened the door the rest of the way and sounded pleased. "Well, why don't you just come in nice and easy and we can explain it to you."
Victoria put on an innocent and frightened look. "I wouldn't. My dog, she's very protective."
A low growl filled the air, a menacing and stalking growl that came from a pure and dangerous predator. A bear-sized wolf, black as the night, came into sight around the side of the door. Her teeth were revealed from the snarl she released. Now I see. Tera and Victoria had found me, and I was relieved.
Jackson and Billy were petrified. Billy stood still with the welder in hand while Jackson just stood there shaking. Tera wasn't very happy, and Victoria just smiled. "What? Never seen a giant wolfdog before?" She shoved the slim guy, and he flew back a few feet and landed on his butt. "Now the real fun of you boys' night begins."
Tera and Victoria made their way in and Victoria shut the door back down. Tera pounced on the slim guy, and he started screaming in pain and fear. I smiled a little at it. I wasn't fond of my nipples or anything, but this was going to be so hard to explain when I die. And plus that hurt like hell.
After Tera, who was dripping with blood, was done tearing that guy apart until his screams subsided, she made her way towards us. Billy had dropped the welder and had made a break for the door, trying to make his way around Tera.
However, he didn't expect Victoria to suddenly and quickly grab him. "Ah, just when I was needing to eat something." She joked as she quickly and pretty uncomfortably bit into the side of his neck, causing him to scream. The sounds of her drinking were the most unsettling.
Tera slowly stalked her way towards us, and Jackson, who had finally found himself, had stepped quickly away to the side. She came just a few feet in front of me and sniffed me. I smiled a little at her. "Hello, my love." I told the black wolf with slurred words.
Tera's POV
You damn idiot! Of all the times you choose to try and be cute, you choose now, when you're chained and close to death? My heart skipped a beat. Damnit, body! Now isn't the time to get all gushy.
James' POV
I continued to smile. "Want to introduce you... to a guy I met the other night..." I let out. "He and I... go back..." My voice stopped, then. It was sore and it felt like it was shutting down.
Tera stared at me a second longer before turning her attention to Jackson. She let out a growl I had never heard from her throat before. It was more than a predator gives when in confrontation. It was unsettling and haunting, and it was like a grudge in the form of sound.
She launched herself at him and I heard screaming. I couldn't look over. My vision was blurry and fading, and I could feel my body going numb. I was beaten really bad, my throat was full of dried blood from a broken nose along with mucus. I was pretty sure I might have had internal bleeding somewhere, and I had a gash that was starting to cease with the blood.
I was happy in a way, though. I know I shouldn't wish death upon anyone, but I was glad these three weren't going to be alive anymore. Nobody deserves to go through what I have gone through. Suffering over such a stupid reason like this was unnecessary. Wait, what was their reason?
I mean I know it was because I had fought and beat Jackson pretty badly, but that's different. Was he such a sore loser that he had to go and get two other guys, wreck my car, kidnap and torture me until I wanted to just die?
I heard chains behind me, and suddenly the weight of the chains holding me fell. I could only brace about a tenth of myself before realizing that the chains didn't fall on top of me this time. Victoria had been beside me all of a sudden, the chains in her arms ever so delicately, showing off her strength.
My legs immediately buckled and I collapsed to the ground. Victoria had unwrapped the chains that still bound around my wrists and threw them to the side. She knelt down beside me and put a cold hand on my chest. "James, what have they done to you?" She sounded so... sad. Tender.
I managed to lift my hand and put it over hers. It felt kind of nice, having my hand on hers. I felt some sort of rush through me, but it wasn't enough at all to get me to get up from the heap I was in on this concrete floor and just brush it off. This rush was pointless because I was going to die right here and now.
My vision finally blackened. I tried to keep myself awake, but I was just being pulled into what seemed like sleep.
I felt her grip tighten on my hand a little. "Tera, I need you to trust me on something." I heard her call. "This is the only way to save him. I'm going to..." It all started to echo, and then became perplex, her words were going out of focus, and so was everything else.
Was this it? Was this my death?
.................................
I woke up in a dark room. I turned my head to look around, but I could barely manage. My body hurt like hell. I couldn't even lift my arms at all, and my chest was stinging more than usual. The last thing I remember was Victoria and Tera coming to save me, and me passing out on the floor.
"Don't move too much." I heard a familiar voice tell me.
I looked over and saw a shadow in the dark stand, and they made their way towards me. I knew that voice, though, and that posture. Even though I couldn't see her, the way that Victoria was shaped was as beautiful as always. It made me feel some type of lust for her that I never really felt before.
"Victoria..." I managed to slip out of my mouth. I heard myself, heard how scratchy and soft my voice was.
I heard her giggle. "You'll be thinking and saying my name for a while." She told me. "I fed you."
My head was still spinning, so it was hard to comprehend what she had just told me. She must have noticed, because she continued. "A vampire's blood has healing properties that are, without my knowing another, the most efficient and quickest when it comes to human recovery."
"You... fed me your blood?" I asked with a bit of unease.
She sat on the edge of the bed next to where I was laying. She put a hand on my forehead, and I didn't know whether she was showing compassion or if she were checking to see if I had a fever or anything. "You were so close to dying. I almost had to fight Tera for her to even accept the idea."
"Tera...?" I asked, suddenly looking around frantically - or as frantically as I could muster - and called her name once more.
Victoria gently eased my head back down. "She's out right now, Changing back to her human self. She's been a wolf for the past few days."
I rested my head. "I feel bad for-" Then it hit me. "Days?" I repeated.
She nodded. "Two days. We've gotten everything under control, don't worry. Charles was able to get the old Indian lady to explain to your parents that you were staying with her for a little. Your friends have heard that you were sick and didn't want to be bothered, not even by Tera. They don't even know you're not home."
I felt myself heave a sigh of relief. "Good. So when am I going to be able to get up and back out?"
"Start tomorrow." She told me, and then stood. "Tera is finally coming." I felt her hand trace down my jawline in a slow fashion. "I'm glad I saved you." She opened the window beside the bed and put a foot out. Before jumping, she turned. "Oh, and what I said about you calling my name for a while, vampire blood makes a human have some pretty indecent thoughts of the one who gave it to them." And like that, she was gone.
The door opened, and someone came in. The moon that was shadowed by dark clouds out the window finally revealed a light, and in came the sight of Tera, wearing a tee shirt with shorts. I noticed something, though, that added to the indecent thoughts I was having due to Victoria's blood. Tera wasn't wearing a bra, and it was clear as day.
"You're up." She said after pausing.
"Awake." I corrected her.
We were silent for a while before she sat on the other side of the bed while looking at me. It was dark, and she was naturally tan, but the light from the moon hit her features just right. Her cheeks and lips were as defined by the light as perfectly as ever.
"How do you feel?" She broke the silence.
I would've shrugged if it didn't hurt. "Hmm, well, let's see; I feel like I've been in a wreck, beaten to the point of a broken nose, had half my chest sliced along with a nipple being removed, hypothermia kicking in, and choking on my own blood. Other than that, I feel great."
She put a hand on her forehead and looked down with a huff of air. "If you're sarcastic, then you're getting better already."
I managed a hand over to hers. Our fingers intertwined, and I felt that her grip was firm yet gentle. "I'm glad you came for me." I told her.
"If I would have lost you..." She started growling low.
I squeezed her hand. "I'm here and I'm not going anywhere." I reassured her.
She bent over and kissed my forehead. "I'm so tired."
"Sleep." I told her. I was in her bed, and she had every right to sleep if she wanted.
She lay beside me, a hand gently on my arm instead of my chest or anywhere she knew I was hurt. She was so considerate.
She fell asleep right then and there. Poor girl, she probably hasn't slept in days since she's been a wolf. I lay there and listened to her breathe for a long time, feeling the sand of sleepiness fill my eyes as well. I have been out for two days, just woke up, and already sleepy again. Man my sleeping schedule was so screwed.
I fell asleep with Tera by my side that night, in her bed, in her protection. And even though I knew I had Tera by my side and a love so strong for her, I couldn't help but think of someone else.
Victoria.
