Your POV:
Everyone got ready for the day. Ginny and Hermione put on thick long sleeves and athletic pants. But you didn't want to take off Ron's sweater, so you slipped on a pair of tan sweatpants to match it. You then stood in front of Ginny's mirror, combing your hair.
"Guys I really need to get to Diagon Alley today," you stated, nervous that someone might have swooped in and taken your gift idea.
"Right, I think we were all going to play some quidditch today so if you want to sneak off then and go look you can." Ginny told you.
"Yeah, we will cover for you," Hermione added, pulling on a pair of socks.
"Thank you guys so much," you said, shooting them both a big smile through the mirror.
You pulled your hair up into a messy but cute ponytail since you were going to play quidditch once you returned. You then slipped on a pair of sneakers and walked downstairs with Ginny and Hermione.
The twins and Ron were waiting in the kitchen, wearing some beaten up quidditch gear that seemed to be used quite often.
Ron blushed at the sight of you, noticing that you were still wearing his sweater. This caused you to blush almost as much as him.
"Is everyone ready?" Bill asked, entering the room.
There were several yes's and nods around the room, so you all walked outside. Ron ran to the shed to grab their at home quidditch set and plopped all the equipment down in the middle of the group.
"So, teams?" Fred asked, as him and George wrestled for a specific broom.
"Wait, we have an uneven number," Hermione said, giving you a chance to escape.
"You know what, you guys start playing. I'll be back in a bit. I need to go do something real quick." You told the group as you began walking back towards the house.
"Wait, y/n, are you sure?" Ron said to you, looking a bit worried. "Do you want me to come with you?"
"No it's okay, I'll only be a little while," you reassured with a smile. "I need to go send off a Christmas card to my family. It's going to take a few days to get there so I should send it now," you made up off the top of your head.
You ran into the kitchen and found the drawer that Mrs. Weasley kept the Floo Powder in. You grabbed a plastic baggie from a different drawer and poured some powder into it before shoving the bag into your pocket. You really didn't want to get stuck in Diagon Alley.
You double checked your pants pocket to make sure you had your Gringotts key before stepping into the fireplace. You were a bit nervous to travel by Floo Powder alone, but you didn't have time to overthink it. You threw the powder at your shoes and shouted your destination.
Once you had arrived, you quickly peeked into the window of the store with the new Nimbus broom. It was still there.
Thank goodness!
You quickly walked in the other direction, towards Gringotts. There was quite a bit of people in the alley that day so you tried not to get caught up. You hurriedly entered Gringotts and spoke to a goblin.
"I'd like to open my vault." You stated, confidently. And before the goblin could ask, you placed your key on the counter in front of you.
He took you down to your vault and opened it up for you. You walked in and scooped some valuable coins into your small bag.
This'll be enough for now, you decided.
Once you made it back up to the alley level, you thanked the goblin and continued on your mission.
As you began walking to the shop, you spotted a tall brunette standing near the door of a clothing store. It was Cormac.
Again? Really? What is this guy always doing here?
You kept a low profile and did not look in his direction, trying to stay unnoticed. Instead you focused on making it into the store with the broom.
Once you had stepped through the door, you exhaled deeply. You had thankfully avoided yet another unpleasant encounter with Cormac.
You then walked up to the counter and placed a few coins in front of the man who you had talked to last time.
"40 galleons." You told him, feeling somewhat proud of yourself for making it happen.
"Wow, I'm quite impressed," he said, nodding his head as he slid the money into his hands. He then walked over to the display window and took down the broom from where it was hanging, which caused the crowd on the other side of the glass to have disappointed looks on their faces.
He wrapped the broom in some tissue paper and placed it in a tall and skinny box to prevent it from being damaged. He then handed it over to you with a slight bow of his head. A big smile grew on your face as you imagined how excited Ron would be to receive the broom on Christmas Day.
"Oh also, sir? Would I be able to use your fireplace?" You asked politely, not wanting to have to walk passed Cormac again.
The store owner nodded and gestured towards it with his arm. You walked over to it, having a bit of a hard time carrying the box that was almost as big as you. You leaned it against the back of the fireplace as you searched your pockets for the pouch of Floo Powder that you had brought along with you.
You pulled it out and threw the remaining powder to the ground, and with a flash of light you were gone.
You opened your eyes to see that you had made it back to the Burrow. You had Ron's new broom in one arm and your bag in the other.
"Need some help?" You heard a voice say.
You looked up, startled, hoping Ron wasn't in the room. To your surprise, Bill was standing in front of you, drinking a glass of water.
"Bill you scared me!" You admitted as you stepped out of the fireplace.
He chucked, walking up to you and taking the box out of your hands.
"What's this?" He asked, curiously.
"Just a little something I got Ron for Christmas," you said, trying to keep it a surprise.
"It doesn't look like a 'little something' to me," he said, with a side smile on his face and a cocked eyebrow.
You shook your head with a laugh and grabbed his wrist, getting him to follow you upstairs. Once you reached Ginny's room you asked him to put it in the corner where the rest of your gifts for your friends were. He gently set down the box, leaning it against the wall.
"Thanks Bill," you said with a smile.
"No problem darling. I'm heading out for a bit so why don't you go join the others for a few games of quidditch? They were excited for you to come play with them, and now teams will be even." He told you before slipping out of Ginny's room and disappearing.
You turned to face Ginny's vanity mirror. You quickly fixed your hair and then headed outside.
You stood just outside the area that had been designated to be the field's boundaries. You watched as Ron threw the quaffle past Harry and through the goal.
"Yeah!" His team cheered.
"Great job Ron," George said, patting him on the back roughly.
You clapped your hands a few times, announcing your presence. Ron's head turned towards you and his proud smile got even bigger. He then flew down and stopped beside you, still suspended in the air on his broom.
"Hey you're back! Wanna join us?" He asked, with hopeful eyes.
"Yes of course, do you even know me?" You teased. You had played quidditch for the school team before and had been a really good chaser. You loved being out on the field and playing with all of your friends.
"There's Bill's broom," he pointed. " You can use it if you'd like."
You ran over to it and hopped on. You flew up to your group of friends who were waiting to rearrange teams.
"Okay, how about we do Harry, y/n, and Fred against me, George, and Ron." Ginny said.
Hermione didn't really like playing quidditch but she was a big supporter and loved watching you all play. She sat underneath an oak tree with her nose in a book as she waiting for the match to start.
"Sure that sounds good," you said. "Who's going to play what positions?"
"We'll be beaters," Fred and George said together. It was always so weird when they did that. It was like they had some sort of twin telepathy.
"I'll play chaser," you stated, proudly.
"So will I," Ron said, raising his eyebrows competitively.
"You're going down Weasley," you said confidently as you turned towards him.
"Oh is that so?" He replied, moving closer to you with a sly look on his face.
You were now face to face. You were both very competitive when it came to things like this, so it was natural for the two of you to get in each other's faces about it. But this was different. Once he had come so close to you, your competitive mindset had disappeared and all you could feel was the tension between you two.
"Me and Ginny will be seekers," Harry said, interrupting, you're thoughts. "We'll leave the goals open."
You blinked, being brought back to reality.
"Alright, let's go!" Ginny said as the game began.
You gave Ron a light shove on the shoulder and whispered "let's see how you do Weasley," before speeding away on your broom.
Fred threw you the quaffle and you zipped towards the other team's goal. After dodging George and passing Ginny, you tossed the quaffle through their goal. You then threw your arms up in the air as your teammates cheered.
"You got lucky," Ron joked as he flew passed you.
"Oh you're gonna pay for that one," you replied, chasing after him.
———
After a few hours of playing, everyone was getting a bit tired, but you collectively decided to finish out this last match then head inside.
You looked towards Ginny who had the quaffle under her arm.
"Over here Gin!" You called out.
"Y/n your shoe is untied," Harry said, causing you to lose focus.
As you looked down at your untied shoe, your friends began shouting.
"Y/N WATCH OUT!"
You turned your head to see what they were talking about, but it was too late. The quaffle came barreling towards you, slamming into the side of your head. You were knocked off your broom and fell a good 15 feet to the ground.
Your vision went blurry as all of your friends rushed down towards you. Ron being the first one to get to you, kneeled down and lifted your limp body into his arms. You couldn't hear what anyone was saying because your hearing was going in and out but Ron seemed to be motioning for Hermione to go get someone.
You looked up at him, a concerned look on his face, as your disoriented body lay in his arms.
Then, everything went black.
