Sam and Dean bust down the door where Ellsworth lives. From what you hear, he's the demonic version of your dad. He takes care of all the calls, directs demons where they need to go, and covers for the if/when they get in trouble. His cabin should be littered with shit, but there is nothing here. There isn't even a piece of paper, but you've learned that looks are deceiving. Your dad meets you three inside the house since he entered from the back.
"Clear from the back."
"What the hell? Do you think demons got tipped and bugged out?" you ask.
"Maybe they run from us now. I mean, that would be a nice thought, right?" Sam chuckles.
"Yeah, if that's what happened," your dad scoffs.
"Yeah."
You break into groups of three with you being with Dean. He's got your back, and you got his with your magic. He checks out the rooms, and you follow closely behind in case he needs you. When you two turn up with nothing, you meet with your dad and Sam back in the main room.
"The place is clean," Sam says.
"Did you notice it was 'Mr. Clean' clean?" you ask. "It's kind of OCD for your average demon."
"Yeah, so what now?"
"We'd call Cas," Dean sighs.
"What?"
"This is usually the point where we would call Cas for help."
"We talked about this," your dad says.
"No, you talked, we listened," you butt in. "This is Castiel, guys. He was there for us when we had no one left. When we needed him, he fucking broke ranks just to back us up. He has gone to Hell and back for us so many fucking times. This is Castiel! Don't we owe him the benefit of the doubt, at least?"
"She's right," Dean backs you up.
Your little speech makes your dad and Sam think to the point where Sam does the praying this time. He really wants to believe you and Dean are right, which is why he's doing this for you two.
"Castiel, this is really important, okay? Um, we really need to talk to you."
Nothing happens.
"Castiel... come on in," Dean asks, but nothing happens again. "Cas is busy."
"That's alright. We are, too. Come on," Sam sighs.
"Back to square one," your dad rolls his eyes.
"Great. Well, what do we do now?"
"We caught one hunter demon before. We can do it again."
Your spidey senses tingle, warning you that something is coming for you four. The great thing about being a witch with your kind of power is that it tends to let you know you're going to be in danger before you actually are. Most people call it a gut instinct or a woman's intuition, but you call it fucking magic. Just to be safe, you raise a forcefield around all four of you, and everyone looks at you in confusion.
"Something is coming," you whisper.
Just then, the door slams open and four demons barge in. They bang against the forcefield, but they can't get in no matter how hard they try. They are angry, relentless, and will do just about everything to get inside.
"Lower it," Dean says.
"What? They will tear us to bits," you gasp.
"Lower it, protect yourself. We got this," he says, but you just stare at him. "Y/N, do it!"
You jump, but do as he says. The forcefield is lowered until it's only protecting you. As soon as the barrier is gone, the demons start attacking the three hunters. You can't just stand here and watch these guys get beaten half to death, so you attract the attention of one of the demons. He turns to face you, and you just flip him off to antagonize him. He rushes over to you, and you give him an undercut right to his jaw with your magic. He flies several feet into the air before crashing on the ground right on his ass. You walk over to him while he's still dazed and place your glowing hand right on his forehead. He screams as blue light shines from his eyes and mouth as he dies from the inside out.
Castiel chooses this moment to appear, and he goes straight to work in killing the rest of the demons. He saves Sam, Dean, and your dad's ass. Before you know it, all the demons are dead. You lower your forcefield and rush to Dean to accept your hug.
"It is good to see you, Cas," Dean pants.
"Are you all okay?"
"Yeah, perfect timing, Cas," Sam nods.
"I'm glad I found you. I come with news."
"Yeah? What?" he asks.
"I firmly believe Crowley is alive."
"Yeah. You think, Kojak? Well, Bobby, what do we think about Cas saving our asses... again?" Dean asks, and you two look at him in expectation.
"I think we owe you an apology," he sighs.
"Why?"
"We've been hunting Crowley this whole time... and keeping it from you," Sam reveals.
"We thought you were working with him," your dad adds.
"You thought what?" Castiel gasps.
"I know, it's crazy right?" you ask.
"It's just that you torched the wrong bones. It doesn't matter. We were wrong."
"You know, you could've just asked me," the angel says and walks closer to the group.
"And we should have," Dean says. "We never should've doubted you. It's... I just hope you can forgive us."
"It's forgotten," he nods. "It is a little absurd, though."
"I know, I know," your dad playfully rolls his eyes.
"Superman going to the dark side. I'm still just Castiel."
What he says makes you lose the smile from your face. How the hell did he know what your dad said if he was never in the room? He could only know if he was spying on you. Then maybe he is working with Crowley because he would have heard your plan of going after Ellsworth, and you arrived at a house that was so sparkly clean, it didn't even look like a demon lived there.
"I guess we can put away the Kryptonite, right?" Dean asks.
The look on his face said that he was thinking the exact same thing as you.
"Exactly."
Castiel disappears after that, and everyone's smiles are lost.
"How did he know what we said?" you whisper.
"He was spying on us," Dean says angrily.
He's more hurt and betrayed than you are, and that's saying a lot because you're pretty fucking betrayed. Castiel is doing some dirty work, and if he just came to you if he needed help, then maybe he wouldn't have gotten wrapped up with a demon.
"Cas lied to us."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is only one way to determine if Castiel is working with the demon, and that is to trap said angel until he feels forced to spew the truth. You don't like the idea of Castiel betraying you after everything he's done for you, but you have to be sure.
"I can't believe we're even thinking about doing this," you say as you pour the holy oil onto the ground in a complete circle.
"We have to," Dean says in a gruff tone.
Once you're finished with the holy oil, you put away the canister to hide any evidence of what you did. As soon as it's out of the way, Dean starts his prayer.
"Castiel, uh, we need you for a little powwow down here, so come on down."
"Hello," Castiel says a few seconds later.
He's standing by the door of Ellsworth's house, but you need him to walk into the center of the circle which is where Sam comes in.
"Oh, Johnny on the spot," your dad comments.
"You're still here."
"Yeah, we had to bury the bodies, and we found a little whiskey. Thanks for coming," Dean nods and holds up his glass.
"How can I help?"
"Oh, look. We have a new plan. We think we've finally figured out a way to track down Crowley," Sam says with a book open in his hands.
Castiel takes the bait and steps closer to the group, right in the center of the circle.
"What is it?"
"It's you," your dad says and lights a match before dropping it at Castiel's feet, lighting the whole circle up.
Castiel looks so betrayed in this moment, but you know it's fake based on what he's been doing.
"What are you doing?" he panics.
"We gotta talk," you whisper with tears in your eyes.
"About what? Let me go!"
"About Superman and Kryptonite," Dean says.
"How'd you know what I said?"
"How long have you been watching us?" Sam asks right after your dad.
"You know who spies on people, Cas? Spies!"
"Okay, just wait. I don't even know what you mean!"
"What about this demon shithole? How is it so, uh, 'next to godliness' clean in here?" Sam grills. "And how exactly did Crowley trick you with the wrong bones?"
"It's hard to understand. It's hard to explain. Just let me go. Let me out and I can--"
"You gotta look at me, man. You gotta level with me and tell me what's going on. Look me in the eye and tell me you're not working with Crowley," Dean demands. Castiel holds eye contact long enough for hope to bloom in your chest, but then he looks away in guilt and shame. "You don of a bitch."
"Let me explain," the angel begs.
"You're in it with him? You and Crowley have been going after Purgatory together? This whole time!" you yell angrily.
"I did it to protect you. I did it to protect all of you."
"Protect us how? By opening a hole into monsterland!" Sam yells.
"He's right, Cas. One drop got through, and it was Eve, and you want to break down the entire dam?" your dad tries to reason.
"To get the souls. I can stop Raphael. Please, you have to trust me."
"Everything Fate said was true? You were working with Crowley this whole time, and I didn't even realize it," you gasp in sadness.
"Trust you?! How in the hell are we supposed to trust you now?" Sam exclaims.
"I'm still me. I'm still your friend. Sam, I'm the one who raised you from Perdition."
"What? Well, no offense, but you did a pretty piss-poor job of it," he says, and then a realization comes to him. "Did you bring me back soulless on purpose?"
"Do you have any clue what soulless!Sam did to me? What he put me and my daughter through?" you scream at him.
Sam knows how much you've forgiven him, so your comment doesn't sting as much as it should have.
"How could you think that?" Castiel gasps.
"Well, I'm thinking a lot of things right now, Cas," Sam glares.
"Listen, Raphael will kill us all. He'll turn the world into a graveyard. I had no choice."
"No, you had a choice. You just made the wrong one," Dean glares.
"You don't understand. It's complicated."
"No, actually, it's not, and you know that. Why else would you keep this whole thing a secret, huh, unless you knew that it was wrong? When shit like this comes around, we deal with it... like we always have. What we don't do, is we don't go out and make another deal with the Devil!"
"It sounds so simple when you say it like that. Where were you when I needed to hear it?" Castiel whispers.
"I was there. Where were you? You should've come to us for help, Cas."
"Maybe," he sighs. There's a loud sound of wind rushing toward the house, and your spidey senses go off the fucking chart. Right outside, you can see a large cloud of smoke--demon smoke to be exact. "It's too late now. I can't turn back now. I can't."
"It's not too late. Damn it, Cas! We can fix this!" Dean tries.
"Dean, it's not broken! Run. You have to run now! Run!"
Sam, Dean, and your dad all book it out the window, but you're not as fast as them. You're lagging behind because of your pregnancy, but you're going to do everything you can to protect yourself and your daughter from the incoming cloud of smoke. Dean looks back to see you lagging, and he rushes over to you to help you. Sam and your dad get inside to start the car, but you push on through.
"Dammit," you pant as you rush to the car.
Dean wretches the door open and you get inside with him following suit. Sam peels away as fast as he can to let the demons deal with Castiel. You're not sure how it's going to play out, but you know one thing for sure... you're not sure if you count Castiel as a friend anymore.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that you're in the safety of your dad's home, you have all the time in the world to think about what this might mean. Your dad worked on putting angel-warding symbols on every surface of the house to keep Castiel and other angels away, but that doesn't ease your pain. He used to be a good friend to you, but you're more hurt about what he did than what soulless!Sam ever did to you. You're sitting on the couch, crying, and Dean is trying to comfort you from right next to you.
"Hello, Dean... Y/N," Castiel says from inside the house.
"How'd you get in here?" Dean asks angrily.
"The angel-proofing Bobby put up on the house--he got a few things wrong."
"Get the hell out of my dad's house," you glare at him.
"Please, Y/N, I want you two to understand," he sighs.
"Oh, believe me, I get it. Blah, blah, Raphael, right?"
"I'm doing this for you, Dean... for Y/N and her baby. I'm doing this because of you."
"Because of me," he scoffs. "You gotta be kidding me."
"You're the one who taught me that freedom and free will--"
"You're a fucking child, you know that?" you exclaim and get up from the couch. "Just because you can do what you want doesn't mean that you get to do whatever you want!'
"I know what I'm doing, Y/N."
"I'm not gonna logic you, okay? I'm saying don't... just 'cause. We're asking you not to. That's it," you please.
"I don't understand," he frowns.
"Look, next to Sam and Y/N, you and Bobby are the closest things I have to family--that you are like a brother to me. So, if we're asking you not to do something... you gotta trust us, man."
Castiel pauses and thinks about what he said before saying the one thing that makes your blood boil.
"Or what?"
"Or I'll have to do what I have to do to stop you," Dean says, shocked that he said this.
"You can't, Dean. You're just a man. I'm an angel."
"But I'm not just a woman. I'll fucking find you, Castiel, and I'll take you down," you glare.
"I'm sorry, Dean and Y/N."
"Well, I'm sorry, too, then," Dean shrugs.
"You know what you can do?" you ask and get all up in the angel's face. "You can leave me the hell alone. What you did was way worse than what Sam ever did to me while he was soulless. You lost my trust, Castiel, and I'm not so sure if you'll ever get it back."
