His heart ached; an overwhelming presence of pain invaded his once joyful mind which now is tattered with nothing but heartache. A heartache he coated with a mask of happiness, an energetic ball of sunshine.
"Oy, boke quit staring let's go get changed." A grumpy voice spoke bringing the ginger head back to this unwanted reality.
"Shut up, bakayama!!" Hinata exclaimed and slowly trailed behind the Blackett ahead of him, once again losing himself in his own thoughts of despair. They entered the now open change rooms and were greeted by the warm, welcoming smiles of their upperclassmen. "Morning you two!" Sugawara smiled, slipping on his volleyball shoes.
"Morning!" The duo responded.
Hinata quickly removed his jacket and black pants. He put on his black shorts and with quickly put on his shoes. Quickly, he shoved his things into his sports bag and rushed out of the change rooms with his best friend yelling at him with his curses.
The two raced towards the gym as they had done so many times.
Upon arriving they set up the gym with their upperclassmen while waiting for the rest of the team's presence. Hinata rolled the trolley full of volleyballs beside the net and pulled out one, excitedly doing small receives while waiting.
"Morning."
His ears perked at the familiar tone, he held onto the ball and looked at the owner of the blunt voice. A chorus of 'good morning's' followed through while the small male just helplessly stared at the blonde. However, just staring at the taller male reminded him of the aching in his chest. He felt something itching in his throat, as he watched him walk towards the captain where everyone had gathered.
A small cough escaped his lips.
"Hinata, let's go!" A loud voice echoed through the gym. Hinata jumped a little and hurriedly threw the ball back into the trolley. He muttered an apology when he had grouped up with the rest of the team.
After going through warmup and stretches, the group then proceeded to practice with receives. Unfortunately for Hinata, who wanted to hit a ball not receive one despite improving on his skills, couldn't focus.
Multiple times the ball had hit him on the face and multiple times he failed to go for a flying receive and ended up face first on the ground. His actions had gone unnoticed to the second years, but it did not get passed Sugawara and Daichi.
Sugawara approached Hinata with a look of concern sprawled all over his face.
"Hinata, are you feeling, ok?" Sugawara asked.
Hinata who was drinking water from his water bottle just forced a simple grin. "Yeah! I'm just tired, Natsu had homework and wouldn't stop complaining to my mom, so I couldn'tsleep with all the loud whining." Hinata answered with ease. With no hint of guilt what-so-ever, telling a lie was much simpler than telling the truth.
"Oh, well try to get some sleep tonight, we need you." Sugawara smiled and walked off.
Hinata just nodded, his smile quickly fading once the silver head had turned to walk away. His brown eyes travelled to the other side of the court, seeing the green head smiling at the blonde as he talked.
Yet again the painful feeling returned and Hinata gulped back the urge to cough. Do I have a cold? He asked himself and brought his hand to his forehead to feel his temperature, but oddly enough it felt normal.
The ginger head just shrugged it off and regrouped with the others to continue their practice.

Hinata heaved a tired sigh, he stepped out of the change rooms and looked up at the slightly clouded sky. A cold breeze whisked his way making him shiver a little, he proceeded to make his way to his homeroom class, once again losing himself in his own thoughts.
"Gomen Tsukki!"
The bubbly tone brought Hinata back to reality and he came to a stop right in front of his classrooms door. He slid the door open and took in the view of his classroom and classmates.
His eyes had immediately taken notice of the blonde at the back corner of the room, staring blankly out the window with the green haired teen talking to him. He manoeuvred around the tables and students, coming to a stop at his desk.
Right on time, the teacher had arrived, and all the students hurriedly shifted to their seats.
Hinata immediately zoned out throughout the whole lesson, jotting down random notes, and drawing all over his notebook. The moment he had come back was when the teacher suddenly began assigning students into groups of four.
"Tsukishima, Hinata, Yamaguchi and Kageyama." The teacher said.
Eh? Hinata thought and looked down at his seat. A smile tugged at the corner of his lips and immediately his heart pounded against his chest. Suddenly his throat dried up and the aching feeling was back. Eh? What is going on, am I sick? He asked himself for almost the sixtieth time.
"Everyone move to your assigned groups, you will have only this lesson to work on this project, the rest you must do in your own time." The teacher explained.
After getting organized everyone had put their desks together and started to work on their group project.
"I can't believe I'm working with two big idiots..." Tsukishima trailed with his usual bored tone.
"What's that supposed to mean, damn four eyes!!" Kageyama growled glaring at the smirking blonde.
"It means you're an idiot, did you really not get that?" Tsukishima asked and fixed his glasses, "oh wait, you're an idiot sorry."
"You little-!!" Kageyama growled.
"Come on guys, let's not start a fight!" Yamaguchi cut in pushing Kageyama a little so that he can sit back down and not lay a hand on Tsukishima.
"Shut up Yamaguchi..." Tsukishima sighed.
"Gomen Tsukki!" Yamaguchi immediately responded.
Tsukishima's gaze directed to the ginger head diagonal to him. Hinata's wandering eyes seemed to fix outside the window, his eyes nearly seemed dull, with no sense of life in them.
"Oy shrimp." Tsukishima spoke.
Hinata slightly jumped and whipped his head towards the blonde, alerted. "Y-Yes?" He stuttered.
"Are you feeling ok today Hinata?" Yamaguchi asked with a concerned expression. Hinata forced a grin and nodded, gripping the hem of his button-down shirt tightly. I dont want to be here anymore... please.... Hinata pleaded inwardly.
The day seemed long and unending, but once the final bell had rung Hinata let out a reposed sigh of relief. He rushed out of his classroom and towards the bike racks outside the school building.
Quickly he unlocked the lock and got on the bike.
Just as he was about to leave school grounds a loud voice caught his attention and he immediately stopped peddling his bike.
"Where are you going, shrimp?"
Hinata turned his head slowly and met his dark golden eyes. He slightly shook his head and raised an eyebrow. "I'm going home...?" Hinata answered with a hint of confusion in his tone.
The tall blonde let out a sigh, "were you not listening earlier?" He asked and Hinata grew more confused almost to the point where you could see question Mark's hovering above his head. "We're heading to my place to work on our project, now hurry up Yamaguchi and his majesty are already on their way."
"Ah sorry!" Hinata said slightly hesitant.
He rushed to the blondes side, walking his bike. The smaller male couldn't help but be happy that he was walking alone with Tsukishima, however the thought of a certain green head made his throat dry up.
He attempted to stop it but failed. A cough escaped his lips, and the taste of metal filled his mouth.
