33. The best form of attack is defense. Is it just me or is that policy kinda confusing?
So well done to Violet. Maybe I'm just slow and stupid or maybe the murder tattoo draining my energy was knocking me off balance, but I did not get that quote.
Did it mean something like, um.........I dunno. Like if your cereal was about to get stolen, instead of attacking the person you should defend the cereal. Hmm. That made sense.
"Ok." Said Violet interrupting me from my thoughts which was a good thing because my thoughts at that moment were just plain stupid, hopeless and unhelpful. (I love myself.)
Instead of fighting Mavis and Ru, what if we defended the city?" That fitted 'the best form of attack is defense' but how that helped us, to be honest I had no idea. What else is new.
Ash seemed to be seeing light. "I get it." Suddenly her understanding faded away ad she shook her head. "I don't get it. It doesn't make any sense."
"Exactly." I retorted happy to see that I wasn't the only one who just didn't get it. Violet face palmed. "Uh.......no, you two are confusing me. I don't mean defend the city and not attack Twilight and Mavis. I mean first evacuate the citizens and then attack those two."
"Why?" asked Ash echoing my thoughts. Violet stood up straight.
"You must think about your people before our enemies. Innocence before trouble makers.
"Of course." I grumbled. Violet's annoying queen instincts seemed to be kicking in. "Even if we die, the citizens who didn't do jack need to be protected. Why didn't I think of that before?"
Violet looked hurt but Ash put her arm on my shoulder and tried to validate my actions. "He doesn't really mean that. He just thinks it's unfair on us while your useless citizens are protected even though they did nothing helpful."
I shook Ash's arm off. "Guys I'm standing right here."
"Alex, if you don't want to protect the citizens' fine. We won't. Violet's voice was shrill and she sounded sick of this argument. That brought me back to my senses. Al of a sudden I was the mean, selfish little piggy wiggy who couldn't risk his life to save hundreds of people because of all that selfishness.
I felt ashamed of myself. "No, you are right. I'm sorry."I said. "Whether I like protection them or not, a battlefield is always preferred when it's empty."
"With no interruptions." Violet said and we grinned at each other.
"Um guys.........it's cute and all. Finishing each other's sentences. But the evacuation..........."
If you ever wanted a sibling I ask you to rethink your decision right now. Bad idea, they can make every single situation completely awkward and embarrassing.
"Right." Said Violet making a brave attempt to ignore Ash's comment, her tone filled with emergency.
"Let's do this." Ash echoed her and I held up Violet's knife and grinned at them, baring my teeth at the gates of Twilight.
"Let's get this party started."
