"listen eds, your mom and i are going to fuck in your bed while you're away at college." he heard as a hand gripped his shoulder. "fuck off richie" he replied softly, not looking up from the book he had been reading in the quiet library before his friends walked in.
"yeah rich he's trying to read" the beautiful firehaired girl said from his other side. "exactly, both of you shut up and let me continue" he said back, rolling his eyes. the five of them crowed around him, at the way to small four person table, talking way to loudly for the library.
He finally closes the book, coming to the conclusion that he's obviously not going to get any more reading done. "there he is" bill says from across the table. "i've been here the whole time" he laughs softly, smiling softly at his friends. "bev and i were thinking party this weekend? one last hoorah before we graduate?" the insanely curly haired richie butts in. eddies nose scrunches at the idea, he'd never really liked to party, and alcohol was disgusting. "yeah, my grandpa is out of town for the weekend.. we can use the farm." eddies head lifts up from where he had been tracing the lines on the table, to look at his friend with a scowl. "That a boy mikey!" richie shouts, earning a loud "sh!" from the librarian. "seriously?" ben asks from beside them, obvious happiness in his voice.
they'd all changed insanely sense freshman year, but they continued to be best friends. bill hit his growth spurt, gaining nearly 8 inches, and now stands at a whopping 6'4. he also joined the baseball team, along with stan and eddie, and he had for the most part gotten over his stutter. richie had also grown taller, currently standing at 6'2, incredibly lanky with about 75% of his height being all legs, he started smoking, both legal and illigal substances, and joined drama club. bev grew her once short hair out, and grew—- well everyone knows, she'd joined drama with richie, and started her own fashion club. mike had filled out, his arms more muscular than anyone eddie had ever met, he started partying, sleeping around, coming to terms with his sexuality, whatever that may be. ben had changed the most in eddies opinion. the once chubby, bookworm was now a lean, handsome track star, who could get any girl he wanted, except for the one he did want.. stan hadn't really changed much, he was still uptight, still curly haired, and still sick of richies shit. though he is sick of richies shit while also being class president, valedictorian, and last baseball seasons mvp. eddie has changed too, he had gone through tons of therapy, weening himself off of all of the unnecessary drugs his mom had forced him as a child. he stopped needing his inhaler, and started working out. sophomore year he joined track, and junior year he joined baseball, turns out he was amazing at both. he'd also moved in with stan and his family the summer before freshman year, once everyone found out about all the abuse that was forced on him by his mother.
"eddie? eddie?" he heard distantly until he felt someone smack the back of his head. "damnit richie" he snaps, pushing the curly haired boy away from him. "sorry, you weren't responding to anyone" he says after a small laugh. eddie looks around at the rest of his friends, they're all staring at him. "sorry.. i was just.. just thinking about how much everything has changed sense freshman year. how much we've all changed." he says softly, running a hand through his hair. "y-yeah, but we're all still best friends" bill says from across from him.
"shut up losers i'm here" eddie hears from behind him, he doesn't even have to look to know it is his best friend stanley. "Stan The Man!" beverly says in a shushed shout. "where were you?" she continues, pulling him into a hug, much to his despair. "working on my speech, you know we graduate in a week" he says once they pull apart, sitting on the edge of the table. "yeah, we were actually just talking about a party, mike's grandpa is out of town for the weekend, i can get us alcohol." ben says, shushing his voice slightly at the end, the librarian starring at them. "yeah, sounds good to me" stan says, shocking all of them.
"wait really?" eddie asks his voice slightly annoyed that he wasn't the only one not interested. "i mean why not? one last hoorah before we all go our separate ways?" stan says, laying back against the table, earning a glare from the librarian, but she doesn't say anything. "that's exactly what i called it" richie says excitedly, earning a laugh from everyone, including eddie. "but to be fair we're not going our separate ways stanley. we're all going to new york, were all living together, were just leaving this hell hole." mike says, his voice as it always is, soft and calm. "yeah yeah yeah, whatever. so yes? tomorrow night at mikes farm?" stan asks, everyone nodding along except eddie, but he didn't protest, knowing he would be going, willfully or not. "i guess it's time to spread the news!" richie says with a giant smile, jumping off of the chair he was on, pulling beverly with him out of the library and down the hall.
