Olivia's POV
As soon as all of four of us walked into the theme park, Em was half-dragging Karly off to ride in the Green Lantern roller-coaster. Karly stopped and looked back at Gaby and I.
"Do you guys want to come on it with us?"
I declined, but Gaby agreed.
"Sure."
Karly looked at me.
"It's either come on this ride, or be the bag-woman. Your choice."
I rolled my eyes.
"Fine, but I'm sitting next to so if I throw up, you'll have to deal with it."
"Stop being so dramatic, come on!"
The three of them ran towards the rapidly growing line, I ran after them and was about to join them, when someone tapped my shoulder.
I turned around and saw a roughly 40 year old woman frowning at me.
"You can't push in. You have to get in line."
"My friends are up there, the three teenage girls up there."
"Sure."
"Really, they are."
"Prove it."
I sighed and thought about how I could do it. I eventually decided on the loudest option. I opened my mouth and shouted their names.
"Em! Gaby! Karly! What should I do? An old lady won't let me join you!"
I saw the woman's expression dampen at being called old. I heard Karly reply from the other end of the line.
"Tell her where to stick it! Come on, we're almost at the front of the line!"
I turned to the woman and plastered an obviously fake smile in my face.
"Well, I'm going to go join my friends now, don't move too quickly, I wouldn't want you to break your back."
I felt bad about insulting her, but she had pissed me off. When I reached the girls, they looked at me strangely.
"That was weird."
"Tell me about it..."
The people in front of us moved into their seats, we were excited to see that there were four seats up the front left.
By we I meant all of them except me. My stomach churned as I sat in the second middle seat, in the safety between Karly and Gaby. Em had taken the furthest seat, Karly in the one next to hers, then there was me and Gaby.
I was quiet as the man from the ride came around to check that we were secure in our seats. I clenched my ride-harness tightly as we started moving. I clenched tighter as we started climbing up the steep hill. I saw the first drop up-ahead and started hyperventilating. I suddenly remembered why I didn't go onto rollercoasters.
The drop wasn't very far, but a scream still escaped my mouth. Karly and Gaby started laughing.
"Come on, Liv, it's not that bad."
I attempted to respond, but stopped when we started descending again rapidly. I screamed as loud as I possibly could as we went upside down and back up again in a loop.
My breathing was uneven now. I was officially hyperventilating.
I didn't scream as we twisted side to side so far that I thought we were going to fall off. Instead, my breaths became faster and shallower.
As we twisted upside-down completely and did another loop-the-loop, so did my stomach. I swallowed back vomit as we straightened up again. I kept breathing, just, as we spiralled over and over again.
When we stopped at the end of the ride after our harnesses had opened again, I couldn't stand. I tried to, but my legs were like jelly and wouldn't support my body. All of a sudden, I felt the need to throw up. I pushed past the crowd and just made it to an empty toilet stall before emptying the contents of my stomach into the toilet bowl. I saw Karly in the corner of my eye, she awkwardly patted me on the back after handing me a water bottle that I soon drained.
Once I was sure my stomach was emptied, I closed the toilet lid and sat down, trying to control my breathing. Karly was still standing in front of the stall awkwardly. She attempted a joke.
"Wow, I've got asthma and I'm still breathing."
She took a glance at my face and apologized.
"I'm sorry, Oli, just trying to lighten the mood."
When I had controlled my breathing enough to speak, I replied.
"I'm never doing that ever again."
Karly looked sheepish.
"Yeah, I'll never drag you onto a ride again."
"Good."
I tested out my legs, they were finally working again. I wondered about how I'd ran to the toilets when my legs weren't working, but I guess you body forgets pain in times of need.
I stood up off the closed toilet seat and flushed the toilet. After checking that it had disappeared, I washed my hands in the sink. I took a look in the mirror and instantly regretted it.
My hair was ruined from the wind, my face was pale and my eyes were red. I took a shaky breath in and took my hairbrush out of my bag Karly held out to me. I re-tied my hair and splashed some water onto my face, at the same time washing away the tearstains running down my cheeks. I then pinched my cheeks to get some colour back into them.
Once I was happy with how I looked, I emerged from the bathroom. Gaby and Em were standing outside. Em was still living her post-ride excitement, she was re-telling the details to Gaby, although she'd been there.
"Then when we'd gone on that big loop-the-loop I'd lifted my arms from the harness! It was so fun! I want to do it again! I'm tackling the Superman one next. Oh, hey Olivia! Feeling better?"
I smiled.
"Yeah, alright, I'm just never doing that again."
"Okay, wait, what's the time?"
I glanced at my phone.
"12. Lunchtime."
Everyone agreed to eat lunch now then do the stimulation rides to let lunch settle before they tackled the Superman rollercoaster.
We ended up choosing Rick's Cafe to eat at, it had the largest range of food. We all ended up choosing the all-you-can-eat pizza, pasta and salad bar. We ended up spending an hour sitting, talking and eating.
We'd exited the restaurant and headed towards the Rio - 4D cinema when Gaby spotted the Ben and Jerry's icecream shop, we all rushed towards it to buy our own sweet treats.
After 10 minutes of deciding and an extra half an hour of eating and talking, we'd missed the 4D cinema. The girls decided to go onto the Superman ride, I said that I'd take care of all the bags. I watched them disappear out of my sight and into the tunnel. I smiled. Karly had no idea what she was in for.
Emily's POV
I love the Superman ride! I was nervous to see Karly's reaction, if she thought the Green Lantern was fast, pfft, she ain't seen nothing yet!
She enjoyed the first part of it, rolling slowly through the simulated 'crimescene' type of thing, but she got confused when we stopped just as we could see the actual roller-coaster. I saw her get more confused when the ride started hissing, I just managed to say,
"Hold on tight!"
When we suddenly sped up and raced out of the darkness and into the sunlight. Her mouth opened wide as we went up the first hill then came racing vertically down at unknown speeds. She barely had time to prepare before we went over then next one.
I smiled, despite the wind beating at my face. I pulled my focus off of her and put it into enjoying the ride. I screamed with delight as I raised my hands above my head as we sped through the tiny tunnel and then spun around the course. I enjoyed the last few moments as we pulled to a stop and reached the end of the ride.
As soon as the harnesses came off, I bounded out of the ride, still high with my adrenaline rush from the ride. Karly hopped out, receiving slight support from Gaby. She spoke to me as we made our way back to Olivia, who was waiting with the bags.
"That was so fast!"
"It's fun, hey? It's a shame it goes so quickly."
"Yeah."
She was still a little out of breath. I smirked. She noticed and picked me up on it.
"What?"
"Come on, admit it. You were scared."
"I wasn't!"
I gave her a look. She sighed.
"Okay, I was. But only because it was so fast, the actual ride wasn't that bad."
"I'm glad you like it. Do you wanna go again?"
"Hell no!"
I laughed loudly just as we reached Olivia. She was smirking at Karly.
"How was it?"
"It was good."
"Do you want to ride again?"
"No!"
She laughed. Karly didn't find it funny.
"Em asked me the same thing. Why does everyone keep laughing?"
I responded.
"I don't know. Don't get cranky, today is the best day ever, remember? Come on, lets get some churros!"
I ran over to the churros cart I'd spotted, followed by Karly, Gaby and Olivia.
I asked who wanted some, everyone did.
I turned to the man behind the counter. He looked our age and was sorta cute. I turned on my charm-power and smiled brightly.
"Okay, can we get four lots of churros please? The freshest ones if possible, thanks."
He smiled and handed over the order. I paid and looked at the receipt only to find his number and 'Call me.' scrawled over it. As soon as we were out of sight of the van, I threw the receipt in the bin with disgust. Gaby had seen the number scrawled on the receipt.
"So, have you memorised the number already?"
"Who's?"
"The guy who served us just then."
I pulled a face.
"Ew. No, although he was kinda cute, he looked like a douche."
"Are you sure you're not harboring a juicy new crush?"
"Positively, now you can have the soggiest churros because I'm not talking to you at the moment. Karly can have the freshest, seeing as it's her first time in Movie World and Olivia can have a pick, I think these lots are both equally fresh."
Olivia made her pick and started eating one straight away.
She moaned.
"I. Love. Churros."
I laughed along with the others and watched Karly as she took a bite. She saw me staring and pulled away her food.
"I have eaten churros before, Em."
"Not one's from Movie World you haven't."
She laughed, although she tried to look annoyed.
"Fine, alright."
She took a slow bite, purposely chewing slowly. Once she swallowed, she turned to me.
"There is something different about these. They seem to have another ingredient in the batch somewhere..."
I got worried.
"What?"
She made a show of tasting the flavour left on her tounge.
I think I detect... Is it really? It must be... Teenage boy lust hormones..."
I gave my churros to Gaby to watch before chasing Karly around the concrete. She laughed while clutching her churros to her chest and running away from me while saying:
"It's definitely there, I think the batch must've been contaminated by his love for you!"
I continued chasing her while answering.
"How is it possible? He made the batch before we arrived!"
"He must've seen you on the roller-coaster, with your hair messed up with the wind and thought 'Damn, she's hot.'"
I stopped and laughed then. I was holding my sides when Karly ambled over, laughing too. We leant against each other and slowly slid onto the ground. Gaby and Olivia came over and shook their heads through the laughter.
"I swear, it's like taking care of two five year olds!"
"I know right! I'm starting to regret bringing them together."
"Me too, maybe we should cut the trip short and send you and Karly home?"
"It could be arranged..."
Karly and I shut up quickly then clung onto each other tightly. I looked at her.
"I'm not letting them take you away."
\"I will fight."
"I'm not going to let them hurt us."
"Twinnies forever!"
We mock-sobbed onto each others shoulders. I noticed that we'd started to draw a crowd of curious kids and families. Gaby and Olivia looked at each other then burst out laughing. Olivia stepped forward to explain, or so I thought.
"Don't worry folks, just two emotionally unbalanced teenagers hugging it out in Movie World. It's been an emotional day for everyone. So just back away slowly and they won't attack, throwing chocolate helps too!"
The families slowly backed away, the parents dragging the children away. Someone actually threw a full chocolate bar to us. I grabbed it and looked in the direction it came from.
A smiling Mum and Dad, two little kids smiling shyly and a quiet teenager remained. I held the chocolate block above my head and yelled.
"Thankyou for your kindness!"
The family smiled again (minus the teen) and walked off to another ride. I took the still wrapped block of chocolate and jumped onto the bench I saw. Standing on the end, I held up the block of chocolate above my head while singing 'The Circle of Life.' Karly joined in, followed by Gaby then Olivia. I looked around and realised that we'd attracted yet another crowd. I lowered the chocolate and stepped off the bench, stuffing the chocolate into my backpack. I then addressed the crowd.
"Thanks for coming here today, folks. We're just four teenagers reliving our childhood, if you're judging us right now, stop. This is a judgement free zone! Now, I'm sorry to disappoint, but my friends and I have a final rollercoaster to ride before our day out is officially completed. "
I dismissed the crowd, watching them spread out to the different rides. I turned to my group and saw the Olivia had gone white.
"I'm not going on another roller-coaster."
"Don't worry, this is even safer than the Green Lantern. You remember the Scooby Doo roller coaster, don't you?"
She breathed a sigh of relief.
"Yes. That one's not that bad. Let's go!"
We walked across the park and to the Scooby Doo rollercoaster line. I turned to Karly.
"This has got to be the best ride, it's good for little kids, big kids, scared teens, not scared teens, adults that have been dragged along and just regular adults."
I glanced at my phone.
"It's 3:30, so by the time we finish this ride, we should go back home."
"Okay, so have you purposely left the best ride till last or..."
"Nah, to be honest, I actually forgot about it but then remember and was like 'Fudge! This amazing day can't be complete without Scooby Doo!'"
She laughed.
Then we finally took off.
We started by going through the opening doors, riding along and getting very close to hitting the walls then straightening again. The sound effects as we rode along were spooky, but not scary.
Olivia and Gaby laughed and pointed at the 'scary' attraction on the sides of the track. We all mock-squealed when the axes came down close to our heads. We all burst into laughter when the rat-thing popped out of the cave. We waved at the people in front of us when we stopped half-way. We all looked at each other as we went up in the elevator type thing. Olivia screamed as we started to roll backwards but stopped when we straightened up again. We all laughed as we twisted and turned, then we all raised our hands in the air as we rode through the fog. When we reached the end, we all hopped out after grabbing our bags.
As we walked towards the exit of the theme park, I turned to Karly.
"Did you have fun today?"
"Yes, I had so much fun, thanks Em."
"Aw, that's okay."
We all got into the car in the same spots we'd had that morning and spent the next hour heading back home singing our hearts out.
