YuXin sat down beside Kun, her face slightly darken as she sees the multiple heiress of different companies walking up to Kun and introducing themselves as he shook hands with them with a polite smile.
YuXin pouted her lips slightly as she picked up a slice of salmon and munched on it. "YuXin? The food is not to your liking?" Auntie Xu asked, noticing the frown on her face.
YuXin immediately shook her head and flashed a soft smile, "No no, it's good." She picked up another dish and ate it up with an enjoyable expression.
"Thank you everyone for coming to our annual charity event. Many rare items have been kindly donated and up for auction tonight. Please do be generous with your offer and may we reach our goal for tonight. Enjoy your evening." Uncle Cai gave the speech for the opening of the auction.
Subsequently, many rare artifacts, jewelry and art pieces were slowly auctioned off one by one, fetching a rather generous amount of bidding from the guests. However, as the auctioning slowly come near to the end, the amount of money raised still fell short of the goal they had in mind.
Kun's father heaved a loud sigh and tilted his head nearer to his wife, whispering in her ear, "Sounds like we will not be able to reach our goals for this year." His wife patted him in comfort and gave him a confident smile, "Don't worry, we will achieve the goal."
"Kun, do you want to help with our fund raising?" Kun's mother asked with a serious look.
"Sure, how can I help?" Kun answered readily.
As the last item was auctioned off, Kun's mother walked up to the stage and gave her speech. "Thank you everyone for participating in this evening's auction. I hope you have a good time this evening. As you can see, we are currently short of near a $200,000 to reach our goal. My son, Kun, has kindly step up for his." She stretched her hand out to signal Kun to come up on stage and he abided obediently.
Shit, don't tell it is what I am thinking. Kun thought internally. He could almost predict what his mother was about to do and he certainly did not want it to come true.
"Mom, don't tell me you are selling your only son off.." Kun whispered softly only loud enough for his mother to hear as he walked up the stage.
His mother gave him a reassuring smile and whispered back, "Don't worry Kun, you won't die." She could see the number of girls coming up to Kun during the whole evening and knew their intentions. If they want to be acquainted with my son so much, might as well do it for a good deed.
"To help with the shortfall of the amount, Kun has kindly offered himself to be a date for the successful bidder for a day."
Excited chatters started to fill up the ballroom as the girls were riled up with the open opportunity to be up close and personal with Kun. It was a rare opportunity for them to have the chance to date Kun. Although he was well-known in the biz industry as the heir of the Cai conglomerate, there wasn't much information on him and his dating life.
"If I get to date him then there could be a chance to know him better."
"...And possibly becoming his girlfriend."
Hearing bits and pieces of chatters from the girls near her table, YuXin eyebrows knitted together slightly, not liking how things were unfolding.
The moment the auction start, offers were flying left to right with multiple girls raising their hands. The bidding price started to raise and Kun lowered his head and bit on his lips as he hear the bid increasing. He closed his eyes briefly and collected himself before lifting his head with a stoic expression, not giving away the sense of dread within him. The thought of dating a random girl for a day was enough to make him feel frustrated.
I haven't even gone on a date with YuXin yet and now I need to do it with a random girl.
Thinking of YuXin, he slowly shifted his gaze towards the girl who currently had her eyebrows slightly knitted staring at her plate. Seeing her look of displeasure, Kun's mood immediately lifted and he pressed his lips together to stop the sides of his lips from lifting.
Someone is unhappy.
The final bidding price reached a new high of $200, 000 that was more than what the shortfall was. The person who made the successful bid was the heiress of the Yun conglomerate, Yun Ying, who had been eyeing on Kun the moment she saw Kun. At the end of the event, she walked up to Kun and nodded her head briefly, "I'll arrange with you again on the time for the date."
"Sure, thank you for your generous donation." Kun replied with a professional smile.
.
On their way back home, YuXin tilted her whole body to face the window with her cheeks puffed, purposely ignoring Kun who was driving. Her mind was filled with the interaction Kun had with Yun Ying and how she looked like a goddess with her long shiny locks of wavy brown hair and a body hugging white gown and white heels that accentuated her figure nicely. Her soft facial features and deep set eyes made her look like an angel.
Which guy wouldn't fall for her. YuXin thought to herself. It wouldn't be a surprise if Kun would too.
Kun glanced at YuXin with his peripheral vision with a knowing smirk and questioned innocently, "Feeling down?"
"No, I'm alright." YuXin answered nonchalantly.
"Is that so?" Kun chuckled. "If I didn't know better I'd think you are jealous."
YuXin quickly tilted towards Kun and refuted, "I am not jealous!"
Smiling, Kun reached his hand out and smoothed her hair as if he was calming a pet. "Yes yes, you are not jealous. There's nothing for you to worry about anyway. You are the only girl I like."
His words immediately replaced the agitated feeling in YuXin's mind with notes of shyness. "I... " YuXin stammered.
"I know, I just want you to know." Kun flashed a reassuringly smile at YuXin.
