And now we move back and see how our heroes are doing! Here's a hint: not so well.
Miitopia belongs to Nintendo, enjoy!
Flick.
Jab.
Then thrust.
And finally, slash.
"You can't do this forever, you know." The eldest of the three fairy sisters watched the Dark Curse-turned-hero with concern. "Look how bad it got last time."
"You had so many bandages, you looked like a Halloween mummy," said Scarlette the Imp, twirling her spear in her fingers.
"You can't change my mind," Akira retorted, continuing to move his wand in rapid motions. "The world is in trouble because of her... I have to defeat her and avenge You-Know-Who."
He'd been so down in the dumps after Janice died that he outright refused to say her name, or let anyone else say it. The Great Sage's apprentice had taken on the role of leader, and insisted on hunting for The Eternal himself.
But even as he combed Greenhorne, he found no sign of her. He had found many monsters that had barely managed to grasp their sanity upon being returned to the world as it was meant to be, and a few times he was too injured to even get out of bed. (Luckily, Apollo's magic and Cadence's cooking helped with that.)
But even when the world was still broken up, the heroes weren't broken down despite missing some of their team. At least, that's what they kept telling themselves. The light of hope seemed to have been extinguished.
"I just wish I could see Jean-Luc again," Teresa the cat murmured. "And everyone else who was lost. It's not the same without them..."
"That is all in the past," Aria, the middle fairy, reminded her. "Even though we've lost so much, we must move forward with what we have."
"Exactly," replied Akira as he put his wand away. "That's why I need to do this on my own. I can't risk losing anyone else."
A knock on the door announced the presence of his allies, and he opened it to find Ethan, Prince Horace, Princess Antonia, her sister Charlotte, and Great Sage Harmoni. "We came as soon as we could," Charlotte told them. "Any luck?"
"No. We still haven't found her yet."
"What's the use of searching?" Horace grumbled. "Why can you not accept that she is dead?"
"She risked her life for me once," replied Akira. "If I don't do the same, I can't call myself her friend."
Horace scowled but said nothing. "We have received word of strange activity in Neksdor," Harmoni told them. "If The Eternal does return again, we must be ready."
SMASH!
"Ow!"
"What on earth was that?" Antonia exclaimed, opening the door to find someone they recognized. "Oh! Hello, Aspen."
"Oof... hey, guys. What's kicking?" Aspen asked, but quickly shook his head as if to reorient himself. "Oh, forget that! I have something to tell you!"
"Well, spill it," said a very impatient Horace.
"It's about Janice."
Akira got right in his face and said through gritted teeth, "Don't. Say. Her. Name."
"Okay, okay! I'll get right to the point: she's alive! I met her in the desert, and she told me to give this to you."
A scroll was handed to them, and Akira opened it merely out of curiosity. It read:
To everyone on my former team,
If you're reading this, then that means my message got to you safely. The Eternal may still be out there, but we're on good terms... more or less. I know it's complicated, but all will be explained one way or another. I can't be specific as to where I am, but I'm going to be traveling all over Miitopia on a very important quest... a quest to regain my memories. Now, on to brass tacks: in order to defeat The Eternal, you have to find the other three members of the New Elite. One is in the ruined world of Karkaton, one is over in Peculia, and one is at an island called Galados. But even with them, your power won't be enough. You'll also need to find and reunite with our lost allies. They're scattered in certain areas around the world, and to set you on the right track, I'll tell you that Jean-Luc is in the Great Pyramid.
Hope everyone is doing okay.
Much love, Janice.
"She's really alive?" Akira looked up at Aspen in disbelief. "You're not just pulling my leg, are you?"
"It's true, I tell you! She saved me from some creepy monsters in the desert!" the genie replied.
"If she's still alive..." Apollo's eyes sparkled with hope, "then we still have a chance! We can still defeat The Eternal!"
"First things first," Harmoni told them, "we should investigate the Great Pyramid."
"Janice told me she was headed there, maybe we'll meet up with her!" Aspen said. "She did seem a little off, though..."
"No time to waste. Let's hurry!"
And with the New Elites on their side, their genie companion to lead the way, and their abilities to help them, the entire team set out on a journey once again.
And the plot kicks off!
Peace out! No comments!
